Arai trotted around the pen before breaking into a gallop. This empty pen had lots of room to run now, but hopefully soon it would house a large herd. He could imagine watching his herd. He could see the stallions grazing with their families, his lieutenant standing by his side as they discussed the breeding season and how many foals they could expect. It was a dream that he hoped would one day come true. As Arai thought more and more about this dream it was just enough to keep him content to live in this place. If he did'nt a least get one zebra as company, eventually it wouldn't be worth much living here. But that wouldn't get him down. This was a perfect place. Then his mind was filled with an image. An image told to him by his mother 3 summers ago when he was just a foal. He pictured what she had said. His mother, who was called Arbarsha, had descbied the wild. Arbarsha would speak of blue skys that went on forever, no fences holding us in. How hundreds of zebras were in the same herd, all ruled by a surpreme leader. And he would dream he was the leader. He relished the memories. e finally decided that there was nothinjg better to do than contiue to exercise so he contiued running around the exibit.
