Well yesterday my alternator belt snapped and as i was nerely home i drove with it off (which we have done in a rs1800 from south sheilds to durham before with no problem) the temp hit 110 when i pulled up. The car was running fine. Replaced belt today and on start up its like missing and smoking and generaly banging its arse off untill you giv it a few revs like 4000 for a few seconds. Then when it drops down again it starts again farting on. i took it for a spin and when it warmed up it was ok at starting.. Just tryed it again after it has been stood a few hours and again at first it wont tick over lots of smoke (white) then its lumpy untill you rev it to over 1500 then it seems to tick over kind of ok with a slight missfire type thing and at 1100 it will splutter and smoke like a gooden..untill u let it idle or rev over 1300.
have i killed it haha
any sugestions tips or do i just take a hammer to the ba$tard

lots of white smoke? white smoke is water, possibility youve cooked the head gasket, but hard to be certain on that without looking at the car pal.

just what i need this close to christmas haha. ill check the water level again i checked it before and it seemed ok. i didnt think 110 would be to hot for one of these engines. my brothers td corsa used to run constantly at about that temp and its still going.

volky engines run around 90, so should most engines really.....im not saying it is that, but alot of white smoke does point towards that pal

well im hoping its just a mucky injector as it seems like all the smoke is unburnt diesel. so i got a botle of diesel magic and poured it in so hopefuly that will work its magic if not ill have to dig deeper.

well its still running....still smoking Its not using water but still stinks of unburnt fuel.
I know i shoul have had it seen to buy now but the car is coming off the road at the end of the month as i cant get everything done while it is doing a 30 mile round trip every day.... I will be DUBless.. So i have now started getting old faithful ready to take its place ( a 1999 ford currior van cry.gif ) with the 1.8 flat diesel endura engine cry.gif
but its a small sacrifice to make to get the vento up and running better than ever..
