think it must be a bit of a rouse to stop people buying them, there are only 10 of each side at the front and a couple of the rear right, left ones are now obsolete
at least all the bad rust is now gone -------------------- Edition One 16vG60 project

you guys, i am blushing. This is what happenings when you have too much money and a small brain. should do something sensible like buy a house, thats what the gfd thinks anyway.
got tons done but nothing worth showing, but i did get something special through the post. These are the 81.5mm 16v pistons for the block. ![]() ![]() till the next update people -------------------- Edition One 16vG60 project

Well done on the build so far. What size pulley you going for and what injectors?what fpr?
Its easier to do the 16v g60 on a proper G60 cos you dont have that silly servo in the way for mounting your alternator next to the bulkhead. I did hear of someone mounting the alernator under the charger but they used off a nissan micra! looks amazing , am sure it wlll be pretty quick once done. Just a side point if i may, you have chosen stainless steel bolts for the abs pump pulley, i would have not done so as they are weaker than hi tensile cap screws. The stainless ones are more expensive but are not as good in tension. My advice is that you get some socket head cap screws that are already hi tensile, theyre cheaper for a start and also will be much stronger. The scale that they use for the tensile strength is known as ANSI and anything above 8.8 is classeda s Hi tensile, next time you look at the head of a bolt , if theres any numbers on it, this will tell you if its hi tensile, 8.8 is the minimum , you get 12.0 and socket head cap screws are 16.9 which is mega strong. I would swap them for these. Go to any engineering supplies with your existing screws and get a price for swapping them. Other than that well done again. sorry for going on but i would just do it that way if it was me. Hope this Helps This post has been edited by oldskool on Nov 28 2009, 12:06 PM -------------------- |

cheers dudes
i am going to run it on the stuff that came out the edition one, a specialist has assured me it will be ok and he will write me a map to run it in on. That consists of 68mm pulley, 315cc injectors, 3bar fpr. after its run in i will uprate to 440cc injectors with the 3bar fpr, i may even go for a 65mm if i'm feeling daft LOL I dont like the idea of running the alternator that close to the ground, especially as i dont have to, want the more OEM look to, i have tons of pics i got of a genuine G60 limited so want the bay to look like that. thanks for the info on the bolts, but its only the PAS pump, VW bolts aint high strength jobbies, worst case is my steering will get heavy. but that is proper helpfull for future referance, didnt know anything about ANSI, cheers bud Got a spare engine block at the sand blasters, just to see if its worth doing then its off to the powder coaters to be coated in a nice deep shiny black just as a test bed though. Also got all the underbody/tunnel heat sheilds being blasted and new edging tape and insulation. Gonna send my head off to martyn aka vagobonds to have the works done on it, new stem seals, valve guides, P&P and 3 angle valve seats. PG block is going off to martin aka hotgolf along with crank and flywheel, knife edged crank and lightened/balanced flywheel. block bored to accomodate new pistons. Got an ABF metal layered head gasket coming too. thanks again -------------------- Edition One 16vG60 project
