Well, most of the links, including 'History', 'Map', and 'High Council' doesn't work, for me, that is. It probably has something to do with the fact that I'm over in China, but I really would like to have my profile done ASAP. So... yeah.
*Cough*
If it's possible, a plain copy-pasting of the contents of the sites here, or somewhere else would be good, since I can't access the information right now.

History

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aersralm's history lies tangled among legend and myth. It is not known how Aersralm came to be...only stories are told of its creation. Generation after generation told the stories till they became nothing more than myths and mysteries.

What is known is that the name Aersralm derives from the words "air" and "realm". Most creatures of this world can fly...and those who can't have access to it. Elves and humans use dragons and Pegasus horses as sky transportation. Elves prefer dragons as humans tend to find Pegasus’s more enjoyable.

Wars have happened in Aersralm...but too few to remember. The Gryffondyle race has become the warring species...often picking fights with humans, elves, and arions. The Gryffondyle are a barbaric breed of eagle headed men with wings and taloned feet. The elves, humans, and arions formed an alliance and often help each other in battle.

Aersralm and all it inhabitants answer to the High Council. It is a group of about ten members (all different races). The high council is very much like the judicial system...dishing out rules, regulations, and punishments. It is Aersralm's law. All council members are respected individuals who take great care and thought into everything they do. They are all wise and some rather ancient. The highest council member is Skadi the High Priestess. She is much like mother nature...making sure all things are in harmony and balanced.

The arions are a race that is split into two groups...the brytes and the murks. They all live under the arion empress' rule but tend to bicker among eachother. The brytes are like the good side...often looking like angels where as the murks seem devilish and evil with scaly skin and bat-wings. It is said an arion maiden fell in love with a dragon and they mated. This legend is one form of explanation of how the murks came into being.

Dragons are intelligent creatures who tend to live on Odin's mountain tops. Many are tamed and brought into the elven land of Linwe. Some dragons even find themselves tamed by humans...but those are rare occasions. It is said once a dragon loses its life-force it travels to Syn to die. This legend seems true from all the dragon bones found in it's desert wasteland.

Elves are a magical people who are skilled in healing and have some of the most skilled craftsman. Elves are also split into a good side and a bad. Bryte elves are often free-spirited and light-hearted as dark elves are found to have a darker nature. They dabble in the dark arts as the brytes only use good magic. They are yin and yang...and somehow balance eachother out. They live among eachother in Linwe and often marry one another. Opposites do attract after all.

Unicorns, Pegasus’s, and fairies live in the forests of Rune. Rune is often called the source of enchantment...it is as if the forest itself is a magical energy. All unicorns and Pegasus’s are ruled by the alpha mare Devika O Leer. The unicorns and Pegasus’s long ago grouped themselves among one another...taking comfort in more numbers. The fairies answer to one fairy...the Queen Aenor. She rules all fairies. Fairies are found to be a clever and mischievous species...often causing problems for travelers who wander into the forests of Rune.

Humans of Aersralm are split into those who do magic and those who are non-magic folk. Non-magic folk tend to reside in the commerce city Manwe as the magical ones reside in the mountain tops of Tuke. It isn't that they don't get along...it is just the magical humans tend to yearn for nature and beauty as well as peace and quiet. This isn't to say that magical humans don't reside in Manwe...many do. There is a great need for shamans, and fate readers.

The town Manwe is the biggest most populated city of Aersralm. Commerce and trade are bustling in this town. Every species can be found. There are taverns and shops lining every street. Travelers of every type can be found making there way into the city. It is a city that never sleeps.

Giant Wolves reside in the forests of Foxfire. They are as big as horses and can speak to any intelligent creature telepathically. It is said that if you save the life of one of these great creatures that they bond to you for life...following everywhere you go...making sure you are save for the rest of your life. This is of course rare and almost unheard of.

Gryne is a land most want to steer clear from. Trolls, orcs, and any other manner of despicable creature resides here in this dark evil forested land.

Beware of the sea as the mermaids rule the oceans and watersides. Mermaids are creatures of a dark nature...causing many sea deaths every year. It is said you can't trust a mermaid. They have fanged teeth and are carnivorous...finding fresh blood enticing.

Aersralm and all its wonders are waiting for thee to discover them. Safe journey to all who come upon the shores of this sky world. May your dreams give ye flight.

Arions

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Race Profile

Name: Arion

Physical Description: A humanoid creature with wings. They may be feathered, bat-like, or otherwise. They are similar to angels in appearance but are not celestial beings. What they look like from hatching is how they remain for the rest of their lives…Only difference is their hair grows white over time depending on their age.

This species has a good side and a bad…The "good" are known as brytes and the "bad" are known as murks.

Brytes tend to be good natured and are very charming. Most are quite persuasive and like getting their way. Others are intellectual and playful. Their wings range from feathered to bat-like in a range of vibrant colors.

Murks tend to have scaly skin and bat-like wings or black feathered wings (rare for murks)…they are also bad-tempered. The brytes do not have scaly skin…That's the significant difference between the two.

Natural Abilities: They are not beings born with magical powers unless they are taught the ways of a sorcerer. And even then…they’re magical abilities are incredibly limited. Not being a magical race…it is harder for them to control their powers or gain any leverage in it.

They all have the natural ability to fly…as they have wings and are built for such activities.

Strengths: They are agile and light on their feet. Arions have great eye sight as they are accustomed to looking at the world from high above: “bird’s eye view” if you will. Though it is not as keen as the Gryphondyle race. They gain and retain information faster than any other race. Many become historians or teachers because of this fact.

Weaknesses: As a whole…the race of Arion tend to think themselves know-it-alls as they gain and retain information at an incredible speed. This tends to get them into tifs-and-tats with other races of Aersralm. Another weakness is that they are not adept in magic.

Habitat: The brytes live in the land of Arionette…The bryte Arions reside in this beautiful land. Waterfalls and lush foliage paint the scenery. Gorgeous ruins of ancient architecture can still be found.

Murks of the Arion race reside in the cavernous wasteland of Syn. Stones and bones of dragons litter the land of Syn. It is said every dragon comes here to die once their life-source is spent. It is said an arion maiden fell in love with a dragon and they mated. This legend is one form of explanation of how the murks came into being.

Lifespan: They are not born, but hatched from large eggs. They never age…what they look like from hatching is how they remain for the rest of their lives...Only difference is their hair grows white over time depending on their age. They are born knowing…and gain knowledge rather quickly.

Their life span is an average of 500 years but are known to live twice that in some cases.

Languages: They speak the common tongue of Aersralm.

Religion: They are not religious beings by trade…though it depends on the individual really. Some take human gods…while others find solace in other races’ gods.

Societal Structure: The race is split into two factions, the brytes…and the murks. The brytes reside in the land of Arionette while the murks find their homes in the wasteland of Syn where dragon bones litter the landscape.

Though they live apart…they all are under the rule of the Arion Empress. The Arion Empress is always of the bryte and will always take a mate from the murk faction. It is the arion way to keep a bond between the two factions…though they normally do not get along and tend to bicker and fight among each other. It is the Empress’ job as well as her mates to keep things smooth between the two factions. If the Arion Empress does not wish to sleep with her murk husband however…it is his duty to obey her wishes and sleep in his quarters that reside on the very opposite side of where the Empress keeps her quarters. So the Empress is on one side of the ancient castle while her murk counterpart is on the very opposite side.

As a society they love books and devour the knowledge with lightening speed. Many become historians…others become teachers or philosophers.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Race Profile

Name: Gryphondyles

Physical Description:

Gryphondyles are a humanoid creature with an feathered eagle like head, feathered wings attached to the back of a human torso and lower body with legs that gradually turn into razor like talons for feet. Gryphondyles almost all have black beady eyes and sharp strong yellow beaks, but there are of course exceptions. The coloring of wings is most commonly attributed to family and is inherited from a gryphondyles parents. There is no standard coloration.

Your average Gryphondyle stands at about 6 feet high and has a fantastic wingspan ranging from 10 to 15 feet in width depending on the individual height and weight of each Gryphondyle.

In general gryphondyles are not heavy or overweight, for this would lead to the inability to fly, however there are a few elderly gryphondyles who have gained weight in their old age. But for the most part Gryphondyles are in excellent health and are well muscled.

Natural Abilities:

As many of the creatures in Aersralm, Gryphondyles have the ability to fly. A Gryphondyle flies mainly by sailing through the air and gliding. Flight is achieved easiest by jumping or launching oneself off of higher ground, from this point height is gained by utilizing thermals and pockets of warm air that rise upwards.

Strengths:

Gryphondyles are a physically strong race, in addition they are very swift and fast. Their lifestyle is barbaric, and as a result the average Gryphondyle is an expert warrior. Gryphondyles can withstand very harsh weather and climates and in fact prefer the cold to the heat.

Weaknesses:

They are not the brightest of species, a common joke (common in communities without gryphondyles that is) is that gryhpondyles are all 'bird brains' - amusingly enough it is actually a true statement. Of course this is not to say that all gryphondyles are unintelligent, but merely that the race does not focus it's attentions on education. Gryhondyles inherently have no magical abilities, they can be learned, but at the expense of valuable physical training.

Habitat:

Gryphondyles can be found anywhere in Aersralm. However, most prefer cooler climates and higher altitudes, such as mountain ranges. The Gryphondyle race has claim over a large portion of the Odin Mountains which they share with the Dragons. The Odin mountains are perfectly suited for Gryphondyles for almost all the reasons that make them unsuitable for Human, Evlen and even Arion habitation.

Lifespan:

Their life span is an average of 300 years but can live up to be 500. They are hatched from a large egg, approximately 1 foot in its longest measurement. A gryphondyle reaches adulthood at approximately 30 years of age.

Languages:

The natural gryphondyle language sounds, to an outsider, like a bunch of squawks and screeches. It is a fairly complex language that very very few people from other races can understand, let alone speak. In addition, there is a a written language that accompanies the spoken language. However, only upper class or members of the gyrphondyle clergy can read or write.

Religion:

All gryphondyles worship "Karuru the Dragon Eater", who they believe was both a god and gryphondyle. He is sometimes referred to as the 'First Eagle', which is merely a statement that he was the first person to rise up and take leadership over the race. If Karuru existed, it was many lifetimes ago. The story of Karuru the Dragon Eater is as follows:

"... And the skies of Aersralm were divided into three levels:

There was the of the Aether - the level of the stars. The highest of the three levels. So far up that there was no air to breath and no warmth keep a body from freezing. So far up that the lands of Aersralm shrunk and warped into a ball, and to look down upon them was to akin to looking up towards the great moon that rises at night. So far up that no creature could fly in this level.

There was the level of the Haze - the level above the clouds. High enough in the sky that one could look up and see the Aether and see boundaries of the world of Aersralm. High enough that one could soar above the clouds, above all other creatures in Aersralm. High enough that one could swoop down have dominance over all that lived in the level below.

There was the level of the Commons - the level below the clouds. Only high enough to separate those who could fly, from those who could not. Only high enough to ensure dominance to those who could fly, over those who could not. Only high enough to make equals of all those creature that shared this level.

In the beginning the dragons ruthlessly ruled the Level of the Haze, proving their dominance over all other species by flying safely above all other beasts, killing all those that dared to fly into the Haze. And by taking the lives of any that lived n the Level of the Commons, whether it be for sustenance of for pleasure.

Then there was one hatched from an egg. An egg no different from any other egg in any other nesting ground. That hatchling grew like all other hatchlings into a Warrior like all other Warriors with one exception. This Warrior dared to question dominance by the Dragons. This great Warrior was called Karuru.

Then great Warrior then chose to fly from the level of the Commons up into the level of the Haze. With a javelin in fist his pierced the soft underbelly of an unsuspecting dragon. At the end of his victory Karuru feasted on the flesh of his prey, and the more he ate, the stronger he grew. When his meal was finished, he was near ten times his original size and twenty times as strong.

Then the great Warrior chose to fly from the level of the Commons up into the level of the Haze a second time. With his bare hands and sharp taloned feet Karuru flew straight towards the largest dragon in the sky. His sharp talons pierced through even the hardest of the dragon's scales. That night Karuru feasted on his prey. Again, as he ate he became stronger and stronger. When his meal was completed, Karuru was no long a mere Warrior. Karuru was a God among his people.

Then the God Karuru chose to fly from the level of the Commons up into the level of the Haze a third time. As he soared through the clouds he would open wide his beak and swallow the dragons whole. With each meal his body would swell and double, triple, quadruple it's size. When just a few dragons remained in the sky Karuru was so large that when he spread his wings he would block out the sun. And when he would beat his wings, storms and funnel clouds would form.

Then the God Karuru proclaimed to his people 'Fly with pride my fledglings, fly in the Haze with the Dragons!. Fly above and rule over the creatures that fly only in the Commons!' Then the God Karuru chose to fly from the level of the Commons, up through the level of the Haze and up into the level of the Aether, where no other creature could fly. And there Karuru lives, with the stars and the sun in the level of the Aether.

... "

Of course, the validity of such a story is quite controversial among modern day scholars.

Societal Structure:

Gryphondyles live in a very structured society. To begin with there are only two classes within the gryphondyle society. The first, and notably the smaller, is the workers. The working class are primarily the weaker and older members of the race. The other class are the Warriors.

The Warrior class is the main government of the race and work somewhat like a modern human military. The titled positions inside the Warrior class are as follows:

Eagle: The supreme leader of the race.
Vulture: The eldest Warrior (often sits on the High Council of Aersralm).
Hawk: A military advisor

After these title positions, there are many common positions/rankings which are less important and are not involved in military decisions. In addition, each of the titled ranks (Eagle, Vulture and Hawk) are given a group of elite warriors which act as guards. They are know as the Eagle's Guards, the Vulture's Guards and the Hawk's Guards. To be a member of one of these groups is a highly coveted position within the Warrior class.

Humans

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Humans are not normally magical creatures...and little to any live past the age of 100. Humans can be witches, warlocks, wizards, shamans, and sorcerers. Only few possess magical powers and if so it is limited. Most are merchants, mercenaries, smiths, thieves, or otherwise.
