The Nintendo Football League - Season 2, It's NinFL Season Again!

And here we go folks. Back by popular demand, the fledgling football RP, the Nintendo Football League, is back for another season. And this time ladies and gentlemen, we have a full-out RP this season! From Triforcemaster3, the creator and commissioner of the Nintendo Baseball League comes everything you love about the ever popular baseball RP, translated to gridiron greatness!

Here's the skinny. There has been a lot of change in the teams this offseason. There are now 24 teams in the Nintendo Football League (referred often as the NinFL for short), and like the teams in the Nintendo Baseball League, are made up of Nintendo characters from the various gaming franchises. You, as the users of invisionfree.com, act as coaches for your franchises. Essentially, you do all the gameplanning and coaching for your team, and I spit out the game results based on the coaching decisions you make! The teams are listed further down in this thread. I will be making up a short, innovative quiz to help you determine which team will hire you to coach them. Your answers in the quiz will determine criteria by which your standing in the Nintendo universe is judged.

Here's what you do as a coach:

1.Post your game rosters for the given week. This can be done any time before gameday (which is usually Sunday, with the exception of one game each week on Monday). On this you place your players into their starting positions, which are the same as in real football. When you are hired by your team, I will give you the roster of that particular team, which you can peruse during each week of the season.

2.Post your hotspot players. (up to 3). These are the players that you consider your gamebreakers for the day, the people that could have big games and carry you to victory.

3.Do your gameplanning. This is the most advanced step, and for those of you in the baseball RP this is a bit beyond what we do. Here you examine who you are facing in the given week and formulate a gameplan based on your strengths and weaknesses, and your opponents' strengths and weaknesses. For example, if you were a team of hylians facing a team of gorons, you probably wouldn't want to run the ball much up the middle. You'd want to pass out wide and stretch the defense. Likewise, if you were the gorons, you'd want to pound it all day. Your gameplanning will vary from week to week and is intensely important as to whether you will win or lose.

That just about covers what you have to do before the game. During the games themselves, I will post four score updates, after the 1st quarter, halftime, after the 3rd quarter, and final scores. In between these score updates, you can make in-game adjustments to your gameplan if you wish. Sometimes they can be helpful if you are losing. (Each week I will do 1 or 2 games via gamecast, which means that every play will be typed out. The biggest games of the week will usually get this treatment.)

The 2007-08 NinFL Pointspread Pick Em Challenge! - For the 2nd season, we will be doing the NinFL Pointspread Pick Em Challenge. Here's how it works. In this game, you are a mock sports better, looking to make more money than your competitors by laying money on various games. You start with $1000, and the player with the most money at the end of the season wins. Of course, you can spend as much or as little of your money on any given game, but the minute you go bankrupt, you're out!

For each game this season, there will be a pointspread given. This serves as the betting line for the game, and you make bets based on whether you think the team that is favored will "cover" the spread. For those of you who don't understand this, here's an example. Suppose that in week 1, Marble Zone is facing Mayahem Temple, and Mayahem is favored to win by 6 points (-6). If you bet on Mayahem Temple to win, they must win the game by 7 points or more for you to win the bet. Conversely, if you bet on Marble Zone, then you win the bet if Marble Zone wins outright or if they lose by 5 points or fewer. If Mayahem wins by 6 points, then the bet is a tie.

So if you think you've got what it takes, play NinFL Pointspread Pick'Em every week. You might even become picker extraordinaire.
