Oh my! Peppy and Blastoise both retiring? Wow the league just lost two legends it seems
Also tm3, you listed Fireman as retired last season, did you mean Blastman from my team this season?
Triforcemaster3 - January 18, 2011 04:25 AM (GMT)
And here is the Season 14 Nintendo Baseball League Hall of Fame Induction Class, the inaugural grouping to be enshrined this Wednesday evening:
1.MAN Commander_antilles
2.MAN Kenshin
3.MAN Falco
4.SP Andy
5.SP Pent
6.SP Blastoise
7.C Peppy Hare
Going forward, we will be enshrining players and managers based on a combination of voting by the members of the NBL and by writers/commissioner selection. Since there are so many deserving candidates this season from the past 2 retirement cycles, I decided to go with the surefire, 100% locks for this time around. There are already a few players that are out there that will be debated going forward, and many of them might get their time some day.
For these 7, that day comes Wednesday, live from the Nintendo Baseball League Hall of Fame and Museum, in Mushroom Kingdom, which will be dedicated at the start of the ceremony.

No Cards4life as first ballot manager?
Triforcemaster3 - January 18, 2011 07:48 PM (GMT)
Another announcement, and this will be put over on Nsider2 later today, the schedule for Season 15 is being revamped and simplified.
For the past two seasons since the expansion, I have struggled with the task of having each team play each other at least once, while maintaining an unbalanced schedule with regard to division games vs non-division/league games. It's been a nightmare really, and has resulted in some teams getting just 49 home games to 51 away and vice versa. I've also heard some of our managers here voicing concerns about interleague play, that we have too many of those games.
So this solution will knock out both of those problems. Here it is:
9 games each against teams within the league (regardless of division)
= 81 games
+
3 games each against teams from the other league (picking one division or the other on alternating seasons)
= 15 games
+
Extra 4 game series against each team's primary "rival"
= 4 games
= 100 games
The primary rivalries in the NBL, for scheduling purposes, are these:
Subcon vs Yoster Isle
Megaman vs Mute City
Warpstar vs Zebes
Pokemon vs Saffron
Bern vs Orange Star
Hyrule vs Hocotate
Onett vs Tethealla
Sonic vs Smashville
Raccoon City vs Kingdom Hearts
Corneria vs Flying Apes
I'll have the Season 15 schedule out by the weekend at the latest, along with a brief schedule for preseason next week.

idk, its hard. He's deff a Hall of Famer, but his dominance was just over such a short period of time, and he never won it all, so comparatively, his resume is slightly lacking compared to the other managers who made it
Yoshidude21 - January 18, 2011 10:07 PM (GMT)
since i will be at work during the ceremony, i will give my speech now.
First off, it makes me proud to see the opening of the NBL Hall of Fame, in the beautiful Mushroom Kingdom no less *pauses for cheers*
And for a first class, this is surely worthy of the distinct honor. The three big pitcher, Pent, Andy, and Blastoise, really a good representation of the beginning of the league. The 3 biggest pitchers, all in the same division, providing countless made for tv moments. i was able to face all of them, all fierce competitors, especially that big ole turtle, as imposing a sight on that mound as a phenomenal pitcher. Kenshin, a real class act and beloved figure in this league, as well as Falco, the original dynasty starter.
But of course, it brings me great joy as the inaugural class features not 1, but 2 Starfighters. There will only ever be one first champion, no matter what, and That was Commander Antilles. I was a good friend with him back in the day, and he really started what it all meant to be a Starfighter, and today we have continued to honor that tradition he started. I know each of us would make him proud with our accomplishments.
And of course Peppy Hare. Peppy, its sad to see you go, but this is just a transitionary phase, one that you've earned. 4 titles. With the last in your final season. Maintaining a high level of performance throughout your entire career. Being able to go out on top in every sense of the term, that is special. One you have most definitely earned. As a player, you did it all. Great hitter, able to run, the best defensive catcher i have ever seen. You were masterful in calling the game. We didnt have the highest talent as the other pitchers in this class, but you sure got the best out of every single pitcher we had. As a leader, unrivaled. Fox and Wolf are sure known for their leadership, but they both looked up to you. We all did. There were days where i would go to you to talk to the team, get you to right them. Peppy, you are truly a talent, a person i am blessed to have worked with, and a person i could see managing a team someday, one who would have my full reccommendation to such a position. Peppy, i am honored to have shared this day with you, you truly deserved it. And well, i will let you take over and give your speach, cuz i am out of words for your epicness. wait. i take that back. one more. DO A BARREL ROLL! *gives Peppy a big hug and walks off stage*
Triforcemaster3 - January 19, 2011 03:04 AM (GMT)
For all managers of the NBL that didn't just join this week, player re-signing begins tomorrow. All current rules for player re-signing are this:
There is no minimum limit on number of players, but a team can have no more than 24.
The salary cap is 96 million dollars. No team can exceed that limit. The salary floor, which never seems to come into play, but nevertheless exists, is 50 million.
The individual player maximum is 12 million dollars, no individual player can make more than that.
The individual player minimum is 500k dollars, no individual player can make less than that.
Each contract must be anywhere between 1 and 3 seasons in length, with the restriction that only 4 of your players can be signed for 3 years, and only 8 more beyond that can be signed for 2 years.
Player re-signing will commence now, and continue until Sunday at 6pm. New managers, again, don't worry about this stage, your players will be re-signed automatically. The free agency period will begin Sunday at 7pm Eastern. New people, you WILL be able to take part in this step, where players without a team are basically bidded on and persuaded to join managers' clubs. I'll have more information about that as the date draws nearer.

I meant to put 96, not 90. The salary cap is always 8x the individual player maximum. If indeed the amount was 100 last year, then yes it will be cut slightly for this season.

I gotta say, I'm going to have to give that up for this season. I just don't have the time to put into it right now. What I will do is offer advice or guidance to managers if they ask for it, time permitting. I'll announce that to the whole forum on Nsider 2 as well.
I think to a certain degree, most of our returning managers have a good idea of what to accomplish with their teams in the offseason. If I were to include the newbies I would have definitely done directives, but I simply don't have the time or energy to do all that, mostly because my work is going 10+ hour days at the moment.
Astrosfan183 - January 19, 2011 04:19 AM (GMT)
Big news out of Mushroom Kingdom today. Rumors had been brewing that manager Astrosfan may step down from the YI job to let promising newcomer Dwight Schrute take over, and today those rumors were confirmed.
"I have loved my time with this team, and they brought me my first championship, and I'll never forget that. I don't know what the rumors are, but we left on great terms. But what they need right now is young blood. This is a very talented team with everything it takes. I'll be the first to admit that this past season I wasn't very reliable. Other matters got in the way and I didn't have the same drive as I used to, and thats why I think a new manger will be good for the team. He'll be fresh and looking for his first championship, and I think once he gets the coaching down, he could easily lead this team to a championship. And I'm prepared to offer help for whenever he and the team needs it too. If there had not been someone waiting in the wings to take over, I may have reconsidered this decision, but I'm fully confident that this team will be fine under Dwight. I feel this decision is the best for both me and the organization. I wish everyone within YI and its new manager only the best," Astrosfan said in a press conference.
Astrosfan confirmed that there was interest from other teams, but that he had made his decision for his new team.
The decision was supposed to be announced Thursday night on the Nintendo Sports Network, but the 2 and a half hour special was canceled and will be replaced with reruns of Cheaters (Tune in Thursday to find out what Samus is really doing when she goes off "bounty hunting", or should I say booty hunting ), and in response Astrosfan decided to go ahead and announce his decision right away
"Teams did show interest in me, though I wont say who, but I've made my decision. I'll be joining the Orange Star Generals (AW) for season 15. It'll definitely be a rebuilding job, but there is a very strong core here that I think will be easy to build around. This team was the first dynasty and has a rich and storied history, and I want to return it to its glory days. It'll take some work, but I think it can be done. I'll try my best to be there for them this season, and I think this will be a good fit for both sides. I'm very excited and I'll be starting player resigning ASAP."
Link026 - January 19, 2011 04:49 AM (GMT)
Ooh how exciting, AW needed a new manager badly, they are in quite a pinch for pitchers it would seem right now, will be a very different atmosphere than the pitching rich Mushroom Kingdom
Link026 - January 19, 2011 07:21 PM (GMT)
Coming out with the first round of offers
Kirby 3 years/8 million
King Dedede 3 years/ 8 million

You guys are my big three here, and I need all of you for the long haul. Obviously with the 4 million cap cut I can't give you all huge raises, but I'm doing what I can, I'd love to have you all back
Donkey_KongX - January 19, 2011 11:23 PM (GMT)
Is this amounting to 81.5 million?
Diddy Kong/Dixie Kong 1 yrs 8 million/6 million

IF Max - Expired
OF Hyper Shadow - Expired
Ok. gameplan for the off-seaosn- Big thing and most obvious problem is the rotation. We really only have 3 starters (4 if you count Dia). Those 3 are all really good (elecman is still a bonafide ace, Terra used to be an ace though she fell off a bit, but I'm sure shes still got it, and I'm confident in Rachel to hold down the number 3 or 4 spot). But we need two more. I always like having a 5 deep rotation, no matter where I go, so thats a bit important. We also have a pretty barren bullpen. Sonja is one of the best closers in the game, but the rest of the bullpen will need some help.
A lot of the big offensive stars are gone, like Knuckles, Falco, Orca, and Nabooru, but we still got a bonafide star in Metalman, whose one of the best power hitters in the league, and we still got Sasha who helps fill the contact/speed void. Zant and Regigas will provide a bit of power too. But we obviously have room to improve on offense.
This'll be a huge off-season. First offers coming soon

Triforcemaster3 - January 20, 2011 05:17 AM (GMT)
I will run through the initial offers tomorrow. Again, just like before, if a player rejects, you'll have another opportunity to re-offer them. It takes 2 rejections for a player to enter free agency, unless of course you decide to not offer or re-offer.
Donkey_KongX - January 20, 2011 09:49 PM (GMT)
Initial offeurs:
Kazooie 2 yrs 5,5 million
Joanna 3 yrs 8 million
Wizpig 3 yr 6,5 million
Tiptup/Bazooka/Kiddy 1 yr (4, 4, 4.5)
And also: Is there any chance that the managers can arrange the preseason games by themselves? My idea was that I would take on the three new managers in three doubleheaders (one home, one away) on the 24th - 29th in order to introduce them to how the game works.

Of course, thats how we've had pre-seasons for years prior to this. Might also be a good chance for some minor leaguers to get some action

1st round of player resigning - Imme you are correct, the minimum amount for 2yr deals is 3 million, and 5 million for 3 yr deals, my apologies for not getting that up in the initial post.
Also DKX, managers can arrange their own preseason games, in fact I encourage that. Nobody is forced to play spring training games if they don't want to.

Yoshidude21 - January 22, 2011 01:15 AM (GMT)
BREAKING NEWS: The past few days rumor has spread across the internet that manager Yoshidude21 would be stepping down from the Corneria job. He has refused to comment on the subject, instead focusing on the HoF ceremony. Today though, he has announced that the rumors are indeed correct, Yoshidude will be stepping down as the Cornerian manager.
*YD steps up to the stage in the Cornerian media room*
YD: Well, as I'm sure you have heard the rumors, yes, they are true. I feel my time here in Corneria has come to an end. In this transitionary phase back to NSider, i feel it is time for my transitionary phase too. This is a decision that has been made for a while, i just held off for a while, i just didnt want it to distract from the accomplishments and honors of the organization as of late. I've already had long talks with the organization, and the team. I held a meeting with the team as a whole, then each individual player just to go over things and give my thanks and appreciation. Since coming here 5 seasons ago, it's been one hell of a ride, the best of my career, the most dominating stretch of any team in existence. I may be cocky, but even i didn't foresee this. Some media outlets thought i was washed up after my stint in Kingdom Hearts, but the owners here in Corneria, including Takaya Imamura, for giving me a shot to come here. Together with the players here we worked together and restored both of our reputations to their former glory. I will never forget the great times we had here, we weren't just a team, but a family. And after these 5 joyous seasons, i don't want to give this organization anything but the best. Even last season, while we won a championship, before that i don't even feel that was my best effort over the season. Even the season before, when we got beat in the first round, that was a tough loss, some calling the dynasty over. I'm just grateful i get to end it on my own terms instead of someone elses. As for this organization, i feel they are being left in the best of care. Before, during the years of turmoil, it was a team grown apart. Things have changed. I have never before seen a tighter knit group in any locker room. They will fight for each other, as well as for me, and i know they won't let the same misfortune fall them now. They could thrive on their own, thats how special this group is. And while they are aging, i have made sure i left them with a strong draft class next year that will help them into the future. And while Peppy may be retired, that doesn't mean he is gone from the organization. He will be interviewed for the manager position here in Corneria. While that doesnt mean he will be the manager for sure, the organization will give due diligence, and its still possible a newcomer could take the reigns, i do know for sure the team would be in great hands with Peppy. As for myself, im not setting out some bidding war, no big media madness, but if you will say in a sense, that i will be "taking my talents" to the Bern Mountains, as new manager of the Dragonkillers. I will answer more questions at my introduction in Bern, and now, i yield to some of the Starfighters for them to answer questions for you.

would like to extend formal invitations to Yoster Isle, the Dragon Killers, and Zebes for pre-season games.
Single game, not a double header. Dates TBD

Alright, sounds good.
And I'm retracting my invitation to YI simply because I don't want to schedule too many pre-season games with my roster being this low on players, and with YI already playing two games against the Apes
Tentative dates would be 1/28 against Zebes (Or another team if Zebes declines) and 1/29 against Dragon Killers.
And also, YD, I have an offer for you. Haven't done something like this in a long time, not since Cards was in the league, but I figure this is a good way to kick off this glorious new rivalry (we haven't been same division since MM vs YI have we?).
If I win this pre-season game, for all of this season, on one of your outfield walls, a big AW logo gets painted on there, with the words "property of" above it. And if you win, same thing happens to me, DK logo with property of.
Sound good? Unless you got a better idea of something to bet. Because this should be fun :D

false, KH and RC, remember, oh wait, thats right, thats such an easily forgetable history
and hmm...im definitely up for a wager, i like that idea, or maybe the losing manager has to dress like a princess for the first regular season game we face off in the season

Well lets take a few days to come up with something awesome :D
There was never a huge rivalry with KH and RC though, thats why I don't remember that as well. Not like the MM and YI rivalry we had
