Hi all,
So things haven't quite progressed as I'd have liked in the 15 months since I released Sculptors Do It With Small tools last March. The sculpting kit and booklet were never really intended to be stand-alone products. They were intended to be supplementary to the DVD. There is no DVD, which complicates things. I tried to keep the kit affordable, which unfortunately has meant that it can't be sold into distribution, because I'd lose money on it at the required discount levels. This has left it in a little bit of a no-man's land. There were about a dozen additional kits sent to various magazines for review, that for whatever reason, were never published. That was disappointing also. The kit and booklet will continue to be available, but follow-ups will not be immediate. There are a couple future projects planned. I'm unsure of the form they will take at this point. Seeing as how I'm essentially limited to an online market, it makes sense to focus on a medium that takes advantage of the technology. That's all I'm going to say about that right now. I don't want to get ahead of myself and any new product is still months down the road. As for now, I'm back to sculpting full-time. You'll see some figures regularly pop up from me for Reaper Miniatures, and for Rusted Heroes, as well as a few others. I'm preparing for our first community project here, which will get started within the next few weeks, called "Pimp My Green." I'll post details soon. I have not done any sculpting classes this year, but those will resume in 2009 with the regular forays to the midwest, as well as local San Francisco Bay Area and southern California conventions. Hope everyone is doing well. Thanks, Matt |

Hey Matt!
It is strange to hop onto your forum for the first time and see a message like this. Makes me wish I was around when you first got started so I could share the excitement! I was sculpting for the first time back in 2006, and it was going well... Then I tried to get together a resin casting operation to mass-produce my own stuff for myself and that hassles, head-aches, and neck pains that followed drove me leagues away from sculpting for two years, but now I am back. I went through Google's vast knowledge base again and found that mostly nothing had changed, except you site. That face sculpting tutorial sold me on the guide book and blamo! I was seriously impressed. I have learned a lot and I am looking forward to giving it a try. Too bad to hear that no DVD is coming out soon, but I will keep my eyes open for a potential future release n. |

It was unfortunate that the site was essentially launched during a time period where I had a lot of other things going on personally that were distractions to say the least. I had too many irons in the fire and wasn't able to maintain the initial momentum of the launch like I wanted to. It's my own fault. While there probably won't be a DVD, I'm looking into having video tutorials available for download at some point.
