seriously why is swearing so common and fast becoming a part of every Filipinos way of doing a conversation?... i know its a bad manner to cuss but i still do it way more often than i could pray to god... damn i'm guilty. is it a big deal? or is it one of the negative traits that needs to be change? most of the time i cuss not because i mean what i said but because it had been a natural reaction of mine everytime i do something stupid or had been through a terrible day.. i always promise myself that i will never curse again but its difficult to change especially when it becomes a habit.

it serves as an exhaust to release negative emotions and an alternate to physical outrage. Also, it comes along with anger if the swear word is pronounced in a serious manner directed to another person. In less negative situations, it has become an expression, as normal as it has become.

Based on my experience, this "cursing" started when I'm in grade 3. My parents don't know that during those tender years of my life, I already know how to curse. I curse because the "in-crowd" did it and I'm part of it. I taught it's cool if you know how to utter those kind of words, and, hey, my parents also do this - so why can't I? I only curse in school - cool effect, huh? But eventually, it became a habit. I want this thing out of my system for so long. I prayed and prayed but I just can't. Maybe that's also the reason why I prefer speaking English than in Filipino or Taglish. If I converse in Taglish, the p words and the s always come out of my mouth.

And like the topic starter, there were even times I curse others but I really didn't mean it. Like him, I believe that this idocracy should be stopped. Why idiocracy? Because most of the people who use these profaine words don't even know its meaning. Yes, they know that it's what you call "mura" in Tagalog, but there's a deeper meaning of it.

no one really i know or close friends for that matter hasnt been affected

of it..maybe because using it in the right place and time..now if you ask

do i have a problem saying these things well my answer is a plain no.

and as for being "in" well i can really say this was the reason for me.

i say its like having yer first cigarette you did it because you want to be

anyhow all these things was said and done for the mere reason that

you want to be cool or you really wanted to do it...

again its like yer first cigarette...you can stop, its hard but

lastly i wont blame the people around me...my dad who uses p-ina

words everytime like my dad for the longest time i can remember...

my 4 bros who taught me most of the curse words and the bad

habits that i came to know and do...my relatives and cousins who

ive known my entire life who also curse...my friends and love ones

who also curse in any way possible..

yes i do mean what i say but yours is a totally different story. i curse but it doesn't mean i'm retarded. and besides not everyone you hang up everytime is worth keeping... but still the point is no matter how cool or harmless you think cursing is it is inappropriate. but i don't really care if people curse its up to them to do what they think is right, i only care about my actions and how they might affect others and of course myself.

it's the small things that matter. in this day and age people are so pre occupied with a lot of things, complicated and unneccessary things. its alright to learn new experiences, new ideas as well as to be in with the current trend... but sometimes people should also think of their actions if its really neccessary.

is calling em retards (people you hang around with) is much more worst

than cursing...also dont imply that people who curse is a bunch of retards

but base on what you said...a friend of yours calling a female friend(s)

with such a foul word(s) with out anyreason at all is stupid...if yer female

friend is affected with it then i think thats the time you should take action

and do whatever it is to prevent that person from saying such cursing

words again.
