I had stopped watching wrestling around 93, thanks to Doink.
One day in 96, I was flipping channels, then "All you fans can stick it brother!" I had to watch Nitro after that. I watched Nitro all thru 96. In 97, during the rise of Stone Cold Steve Austin, RAW actually started being watchable. I watched RAW, then the replay of Nitro. About 98, the NWO was really dragging on and ruining the show, and the same boring old farts like Sting and Luger (I prefer Hogan to both of them) were always on the air, I became a full time RAW watcher from then on. In 2001, the WCW/ECW invasion made me stop watching full time, and the 1475th return of the NWOld in 02 made me stop for good so far. |

In the nWo days it was Nitro and then Raw during the commercials or if a crappy match was on WCW and a better one was on Raw. I did watch both though but in the nWo days WCW was the shiznit!

I was watching the Monday Night War DVD. Before it starts there's a promo for WM XX. It talks about how we are all human and we all break down eventually. The narrator says "sooner or later, we will die." and at that moment you see a quick clip of Eddie Guerrero. I just thought that was really creepy!

I was RAW all the way. wcw was always crap to me other than the NWO and wolfpac. I would sometimes switch to wcw but not often.

The angle had some great moments, like the Hogan/Rock semi on ambulance scene... that was pure WCW/nWo badassness, circa '97. The Hogan/Rock staredown on SD was the most electricity on TV in along time, Hogan pinning Rock on RAW was a sweet moment for the huge portion of anti-Rock fans at the time... I'm not gonna lie, it was mostly Hogan/Rock. :P The credibility went out the window when they had all three guys running scared from Austin for the entire two hours of Smackdown once, and he just owns them in the final segment... outrageous. Then I think the feel was most people wanted to see Nash/Austin at WMX8, but they got Hall/Austin for some reason. And of course, they watered it down again with Show, X-pac and Booker T joining later. B-teamed it all over again. They coulda thrown Jericho or Angle in, but nooooo... Then the thing on RAW with the magical vaporizing cinderblocks... there's not one person who didn't laugh out loud at that segment. :lolold: Bringing back Hulkamania was enough of a payoff I guess. -------------------- TNA > WWE

During the Wars I was WWF all the way, it wasn't until the WWF started putting out reports of two former WWF wrestlers showing up on the compeition claiming to be part of a WWF invasion (I'll let you guess which two wrestlers they were :P ) that I started to turn over to wCw. From then on I would switch from the WWF to wCw during the breaks.

I used to be a WWF guy, but just as the Monday Night Wars escalated I stopped watching for a few years.
I got sucked back in because a friend of mine liked to watch WCW. I remember watching it with him one day and thinking "What the hell? Since when are there 3 different NWOs with 10.000 members?" I got annoyed because they played the NWO theme again and again and again. (I found it really annoying that all NWO guys came out to the same music.) This inspired me to check out how the good old WWF was doing. First thing I noticed was the new logo. Next thing I noticed... MANKIND? MANKIND IS CHAMPION?!?!? How the hell did that happen?!?! And who won the Royal Rumble - Vince McMahon?!?!?! It kinda dawned on me that a lot had happened since I had tuned out (and that I had picked a bad time not to be a wrestling fan...). So I got back into it, and even though, from my perspective, WCW had more familiar faces (someone here quite accurately described WCW as a retirement facility for WWF guys), but WWF was the better, more entertaining product. -------------------- |
