Moonshine

[Alyth]

The middle afternoon sun beat down on the large lake, making the water shimmer. It was terribly hot in the African savannah, and the lake was a perfect place to seek refuge from it. A lone lioness was doing just that.

She walked along the edge of the lake, paws just barely letting her stay ashore. She was a little small than the average lioness, but she still turned heads. A fly buzzed past her ear, and they flicked to ward off the intruder. The lioness's name was Alyth. She found a comfortable spot on the shore of the lake, and crouched down.

Her delicate maw opened slightly to let her pink tounge slip out, and when it did, she lapped up the crystal clear water. Feeling happy with the way the water cooled her down, she continued to drink until she had had her fill. Knowing exactly what she wanted to do now, she stepped away. The sun shone on her fur now, giving her a golden, almost supernatural look. Quickly, though, she had reached the shade, and went inside of the many caves dotting the forested area.

Alyth stepped inside and lay down, lightly panting. Now, she had time to think. A pride had to be close, she could smell it. If only she could muster up the courage to ask to join. But, then again, she had no idea whether that pride would be right for her. She just hoped she could find a home soon, before she would need one.

Not far from where Alyth lay, another female entered the area, as many would do. There were prey here, but it seemed they hid away. Of course. Until their thirst drove them to it, they would stay away from the water and the two lionesses.

Aja padded slowly across the clear water's edge, lying down alongside the sparkling lake. She stared into its depths, thinking wistfully of a pride. There might be one around here, she did not know. The scents were there, but they seemed old. Nothing new for the lioness to note.

As the hot African sun shone fully on the a silvery pelt, the lioness spared a glance towards the edge of forest her nose had pointed her to. There, almost indistinguishable from the shadows, was another.

Aja's gladness peaked a bit, the other might belong to a pride. She lapped up the clear water without much enthusiasm, her enthusiastic streak becoming clear as she kept herself by the lake, purring contently. She would go over to the other, but not just yet.

yet another animal came to drink. this was a strong lion named Aslan. He lay under a tree, he panted slightly. a herd would come for a drink soon, he hoped it wouldn't take to long as on the way he smelt a pride.
The hot sun made the water shine, he got up and trotted over there, he noiticed a female drinking. His lip curled back as he let out a small snarl. he lapped up the water and lay down with a grunt , he curled a paw back as the other drooped over the water.
he yawed heavily and rested his head against his giant paws and closed his eyes.

He opened one eye and decided to go somewhere else, he had only rested for a few minutes. he got up and walked slowly the way he had come in.

He saw another female resting in the shade, he would come back later to find the herd and maybe see the female again.
