Moonshine

[Kinha]

The sun was getting lower on the horizon as the day was nearing an end. As a young lioness, who hasn’t even become mature yet, only 2 and ˝, entered this territory, she sniffed the boundary markings, but she didn’t care. After walking carelessly over the boundary lines, Kinha stopped to look around. She was looking for a meal, she didn’t care how she got it. She saw a huge rock at least 25 feet high. Kinha had never before seen anything like it, but once again, she was here for a meal. At once the smell of freshly killed meat wafted over to her. She seemed unsure, but was too hungry to concentrate on smelling anything but the meat. She would have rather caught something herself, but maybe she would be able to sneak a couple bites if the lions had already left. Kinha had been unable to catch any food for the past four days. Being young, her hunting skills were still developing, and she had had noone to help her hone her skills.

As Kinha started walking toward the scent, she smelled and saw, two lions. One, a large male, had just finished his meal on the meat... the impala... actually. The other was a female, with unusual markings, that should had disappeared by maturity. The female looked content washing herself with her tougue. “Great. So much for a free meal.” She said to herself, but she was used to talking to herself, she was her only friend out in the savannah. Kinha saw only two lions. "Maybe a small pride. Or just a portion of a large one." Soon Kinha realized that she had stayed too long observing these lions. It was hopeless to think they would let a loner come into their pride, let alone eat their food. Kinha laughed. That was impossible. She let out a growl of frustration, then started running off, afraid of the consequences of entering a territory not her own.

[Takasa]

Out of Character: ~~~~~ In Character: The sound of sleeping lions bounced off the walls of the rock and echoed around the area. Both lions of the pride were full and tired, yet their job was not done yet. A lone lioness had walked into the terra, while they were eating no less, and it was the Maliki's job to deal with it. His nose quivered as he dreamed. The scent of the lioness wafted up his nostrils, but he just shook it off. Yet it was too much. Yawning and growling in frusteration, he sat up. This was twice his sleeping had been interupted by a loner. Takasa probaly wouldn't be too easy on Kinha. He walked up to her just as she was about to turn away. He gave a little cough to make sure she knew he was here. Then, he went through the routine. He puffed out his chest, stood taller, and "bumped" his crown up. "I hope you realize you are on claimed land, close to a, my pride's base?" he growled. His eyes gleamed with anticapation, what ever it may be for, as he waited for Kinha to respond.

[Hafifu]

It would be easier for her to rise, as she had eaten a bit less than her Maliki had. Hafifu's side rose and fell gently as she slept, even lightly, in the place she knew now as her new home. That was when she was suddenly aware of Takasa moving. She could hear the grass rustling under his paws.

Hafifu cracked one pale yellow eye open to she could look out. At first, she saw only Takasa, and heard him speak with the same authority of which he'd first spoken to her with. Her one eyes widened, the she lifted her head, the other opening as well to let her see better. Another lioness! All at once, a kind of excitement filled Hafifu. She had a vague hope that Takasa would accept this newcomer...

Getting carefully to her paws, she watched from the base of the Sana, her eyes narrowed slightly. Her face was entirely neutral as she watched. This new lioness was tall, not unlike Hafifu, but still not as tall, she noted. Her pelt looked normal enough from this distance... but Hafifu would have to get closer to really see any other detail.

[Kinha]

Kinha turned around and was greeted with a male lion's voice.

"I hope you realize you are on claimed land, close to a, my pride's base?"

Kinha studied the male lion from up close. He was tall, taller than she could ever hope to be. From her point of view, he looked quite scary. "Um... yes... um... sir, I do know that I am on your land." Kinha spoke quietly as she looked down. She hadn't wanted to be caught. Kinha's scar tingled as she remembered what had happened the last time she was caught. "I am truely sorry sir. I just saw you had some food and well... I haven't eaten in a while." Kinha looked back at the Sana, and now noticed the other lioness had risen as well. She would have some trouble getting out of this one.

Kinha now realized than she had been trying to explain herself too hard. "Maybe I should just leave." Kinha sighed. "I had kind of guessed I would not be welcome." Kinha turned to leave. She frowned again. Kinha knew that she wanted to be apart of a pride again, but she was blowing every chance she got. It was hard to forget one's past.

[Takasa]

Out of Character: ~~~~~ In Character: Takasa still stood tall, but his head turned slightly when he noticed Hafifu had risen also. He waited for the other lioness to say something, but then she did. "I am truely sorry sir. I just saw you had some food and well... I haven't eaten in a while." The Maliki had mixed feelings. Part of him wanted to get even madder that she had the idea of taking his food. The other part wanted to feel sorry for her, and offer her a place in the pride. His mind strayed back to the second idea. His pride did need new members, and his pride wouldn't get any larger with him just standing there, staring blankly at every lioness that just came by. It was settled. Like he did with Hafifu, he would offer her a place in the pride. His face softened a bit, and that should have given it away right there. "Well, I am sorry that you haven't eaten. If you would like a place in my pride, you can have the remains of the current kill, and each one after that. If not, leave." If she said no, Takasa would have to chase her off the lands, or even worse, attack. He was tired, and wasn't in the mood. He hoped the strange lioness would accept his offer.

[Hafifu]

Looking at Kinha, Hafifu imagined what she felt. ...no, Hafifu knew what she felt, for she herself had experienced only just today! And she knew what hunger was like too. It could make you think and do things you wouldn't have done otherwise. Blinking slowly, she wondered what Takasa would do.

Of course, a great part of Hafifu hid the hope that the other might be offered a place here as well... and the other side knew she shouldn't hope so much.

"Well, I am sorry that you haven't eaten. If you would like a place in my pride, you can have the remains of the current kill, and each one after that. If not, leave." such was said by the Maliki as his face softened.

Of course, Hafifu could not see his face from her position, but she could sense it, in a way. Would the other lioness say yes? Hafifu hoped so... she would have a pride sister! She remembered her old pride sisters and a stab of pain went through her heart... but she would still try to start anew, and hope for the best.

[Kinha]

"Well, I am sorry that you haven't eaten. If you would like a place in my pride, you can have the remains of the current kill, and each one after that. If not, leave."

Kinha stopped. Had she just heard what she thought she had heard? She looked at the lion for signs of truth. They were there all right. Kinha was overjoyed. She would finally belong somewhere, somewhere where there would be food and shelter, and... company!

"Sir, I would be honored to join your pride.” Kinha smiled as she said this. Inside of her heart was a different story. It would take some time before she would be able to truly trust anyone again, but Kinha hoped that she would be able to trust this pride.

[Takasa]

Out of Character: ~~~~~ In Character: His face was still softened, but he was tensed in case he had to chase her off. She said that she would be honored to join the pride. At those words, Takasa smiled and his tired eyes started to twinkle. He sat down, for he was still tired. The Maliki was glad they were already at the Sana. "Good, good. Well, I am Takasa, your Maliki. May I ask the name of the lioness before me?" Still seated, he craned his neck backwards towards Hafifu. He nodded to her. She could now come foward to greet the newest pride member. After the intros were through, he was going to go back to his spot under the rock, and go back to sleep. It was now early in the night, yet it was still dark. He hoped Kinha would feel welcome, but he was too tired to do anything about that right now. Hopefully, Hafifu would accompany her to eat, before they both went to sleep.

[Kinha]

The lion, Takasa, had asked her name. Kinha nodded."My name is Kinha." She said. Kinha watched as Takasa nodded to the other lioness. Kinha could now see how tired the two looked. Kinha felt some guilt from interupting their sleep, and now realized how tired she felt also.

Kinha was overjoyed. She was still overwhelmed at being accepted into a pride. Looking at Takasa, she wondered what her brother looked like now that he was grown. Kinha sat down. She looked at Takasa, then at the other lioness. Kinha now had a pride. She was happy, but she knew she would have the get to know the two better before she could make any judgements.

[Hafifu]

She watched. She listened. She waited. Hafifu's black-rimmed ears were perked to listen, and what she heard brought about a faint smile to her maw. The other lioness wanted to join! Takasa motioned her forward, and she obeyed in silence, her paws carrying nearer the Maliki and the newcomer.

Hafifu smiled warmly, dipping her head slightly as the other introduced herself as Kinha. "My name is Hafifu," she added as her introduction, "Welcome to the pride." she offered kindly.

The last thing she wanted was for this new lioness to feel uncomfortable. Hafifu had been known for her kindness and hospitality in her old pride, Rivier. She had been a lioness that listened to every word spoken when others needed to release their troubles. It was she who loved to make others feel their best. Tilting her head slightly, Hafifu looked at Takasa.

Swishing her tail in a sort of "follow me" motion, she started to turn and made her way over to the remnants of the impala. It wasn't much, she knew, but it would at least tide Kinha over until they could hunt once more. Smiling warmly but saying nothing, Hafifu dipped her head towards the carcass as if to assure her it was well to eat.

[Kinha]

Kinha watched as the other lioness silently walked closer to her and Takasa. She introduced herself as Hafifu and welcomed Kinha. Kinha thought that she seemed nice enough. They both seemed nice actually. Takasa seemed happy that she had accepted her offer to be into the pride, but Hafifu looked even happier.

Hafifu swished her tail and started walking toward the impala. Kinha nodded in thanks to Takasa, then followed. Kinha walked through the grass after Hafifu until they came to the impala. Hafifu nodded toward the carcass. Kinha looked at the impala. It was not much, but it was food. Kinha looked at Hafifu, then began eating. Kinha quickly finished off what was left of the carcass. Since she was used to not eating much, the impala filled her up. Contented, Kinha laid down and waited for the others to join her.

[Takasa]

Out of Character: Ahh! Sorry for the shortness. In Character: Takasa still stayed seated, but when Hafifu came up and introduced herself, he stood up. He was going to go back to sleep. Hafifu led Kinha to the food, and when she did so, he left to go back to his sleeping area. He walked over and yawned, then layed down, his eyes still slightly closing. Again, he was happy. Another member to his pride. Kinha now had already finished her food, and had layed down. He was full, and now with more lionesses, the prey could be bigger. All was great in Takasa's eyes. He slowly fell asleep, the night deepening around him. His dreams were good ones.

[Hafifu]

OOC| Well, I don't know what to post other than Hafifu laying down... so I guess we can assume this thread is pretty much finished, eh...?

OOC|| Hmm... yeah, I guess so. You want to start another one for the next morning?
