Okay, let me start off by talking about one institution that’s been on my mind, the Neo-Red Alert Syndicate.
What happened to the old syndicate? After the incident, the Red Alert was officially disbanded. Unlike Repliforce, the Red Alert Syndicate was controlled by Mavericks, so it was within their jurisdiction to dissolve the army. In addition to that, if the Hunters didn’t take stern action against the Red Alert, then they would appear weak, since they had to go easy on Repliforce because of their mistake. However, destroying every member of the syndicate would be a massacre in any sense, so the Hunters choose to retire the most important officers, those closest to Red and his 8 Maverick Generals, the other members of the syndicate were simply tested for the Maverick virus then let go. Eventually, some of the discharged members of the old Syndicate longed to be a part of the system again, and wished to restore the Syndicate’s name to glory. A few ambitious ex-Syndicate soldiers spearheaded the operation to revive and established the Neo-Red Alert Syndicate. The Cain Foundation, which governs all matters pertaining to reploids, set down serious restrictions on the new army’s size, but none the less, that’s how the Neo-Red Alert was born. The main difference between the Neo-Red Alert and the Maverick Hunters is the value of the individual before the group. Allow me to explain, after it was reestablished, the NRA set its goals clear to challenge the Hunters to see who could eliminate more mavericks and gain the public’s favor. It’s a competition. The NRA is very different from the hunters because there is no chain of command. The NRA is an association of independent Bounty Hunters. The Cain Foundation limited the NRA to only 100,000 members, but unlike the Hunters, the NRA has no restrictions on reploid designs. For example, the Hunters could not accept a 10-winged humanoid reploid seraphim. Why? Because it’s sacrilegious, the humans wouldn’t like it. Same thing for a devil-styled reploid that feeds on human and/or reploid souls. The NRA would take these reploids with little resistance. 12 ft tall Cat demon? That’s NRA material. In addition to being in competition with the Hunters, the NRA agents are in competition with themselves. Agents are ranked 1 - 100,000 in order to motivate them. An agent’s rank increases by the amount of bounties he collects. This rivalry amongst the agents is supposed to make them better bounty hunters, but sometimes it just creates battles between agents. The benefits of the NRA boil down to 2 things: Fame and Health Care. The restrictions placed by the Cain Foundation make it too expensive to build bases, supply ammo, etc, which was why they choose the Bounty Hunter system. But, because they have no overhead, the NRA offers the best in health care. If an Agent is wounded in battle, the NRA doesn’t have field hospitals, but if that Agent can drag himself to a regular civilian hospital, he can just flash his NRA card, and that’ll cover any medical expenses. Fame can be the more alluring benefit, because the NRA is smaller, and therefore, easier to stand out. Simply, it’s easier to stand out when you’re 1-in-100,000, than 1-in-6,000,000. “I am Square, of the Neo-Red Alert!” means more than, “I am Square, of the Maverick Hunters!” Which one? There’s like 80 Squares in the Maverick Hunters. How to join the NRA. There are three options: 1. Be a former Red Alert Syndicate soldier. If you were one of the soldiers discharged when the Red Alert was dissolved, you’re in. 2. Be designated an NRA before activation. Before a reploid is activated for the first time, the Engineer can call the NRA central office and they’ll send an inspection team over. If they deem that the new reploid is unique enough, they’ll certify it an NRA-Class Reploid, and he’ll be an agent upon activation. 3. Fill out an application and meet the prerequisite. The application is simple, the requisites are different. First, the reploid must pass a physical (and a test for the Virus), then pay a hefty joining fee (a couple hundered-thousand zenny), and get a letter of recommendation from an active NRA agent ranked 100 or lower. After becoming a member, monthly dues are paid to keep the Agent’s health card activated, and the Agent rankings are updated bi-monthly. What do the Hunters thinking of the Neo-Red Alert? Well, NRA agents are not officially labeled as Mavericks, but if an NRA is interfering with Hunter business, Hunters are allowed to take forceful actions. Because of this, NRA agents are strongly discouraged from engaging the Hunters. But, on a side note, the Hunters will not take former Red Alert or Neo-Red Alert members into their organization, but the NRA will take former members of the Hunters or Repliforce, if they can complete the application process. Now, just because the NRA is limited to 100,000 doesn’t mean there aren’t a lot of them. What happens on the field is that one NRA agent may surround himself with his own gang of non-NRA members. In some cases, there might be a gang of only 1 or 2 Agents and 40 other loyal followers. And they can do this because, the closer they are to #1, the more famous they are, and that celebrity attracts other reploids, some of them are Reps that want a recommendation, and others just want a sense of purpose. Like I mentioned before, the NRA is a loose association of Bounty Hunters. They hunt for mavericks and literally collect their heads to turn in for money. Science labs, state governments, and the Cain Foundation usually pay the bounty on Maverick heads. They have to collect the heads because scientists use them to study the Maverick virus. The amount paid for each head depends on the Maverick class, and that is directly related to how destructive and potentially dangerous a Maverick is. Let’s switch gears, and talk about Mavericks. The Cain Foundation is the governing body that rules over every reploid matter, they have their own senate in every major nation and smaller courts in every town and city in the world. To put it simply, they are the Lawmakers and Judges of Reploids and they decide who are labeled “Maverick.” They control the Maverick Hunters, who are the enforcers of their laws. Basically, Mavericks can be one of four classes: Alpha, Beta, Gamma, or Delta. In descending order, here are the four classes of Mavericks and their descriptions. Alpha: Rarest class of all, the Alpha Maverick is a Maverick Icon, who controls and inspires dozens, if not hundreds or thousands, of other Mavericks. In my expanded universe, only two have been labeled Alpha Mavericks: Sigma and Cutlass Cricket. Sigma is an Alpha Maverick because he controlled Doppler Town, the Soul Erasers, the X-Hunters, Repliforce, the Red Alert Syndicate as well as countless of unassociated Mavericks that swore allegiance to him. To sum up, Alpha Mavericks control groups, a potential army of Mavericks. Beta: Not as world threatening as an Alpha Maverick, Beta Mavericks are still serious threats. Betas are leaders a group of Mavericks, (only one group,) and it doesn’t matter how large or small the group is they are Betas. For example, when Repliforce was labeled Maverick, General was deemed the Beta Maverick, because he’s the head of Repliforce, despite that he had hundreds of thousands of soldiers in his command. Red was the Beta Maverick when the Red Alert was deemed Maverick. Another example, Gaeza, from IRA’s Madness in Red was the Beta Maverick of the Head Hunters. Betas are serious threats because a charismatic leader could potentially become an Alpha Maverick. Gamma: A threat to humans, and sometimes part of a group. Nearly all of the Maverick Bosses, (including Vile, Double, and Himax) fall into this category. The main determinant of a Gamma Maverick is their destructiveness. A Gamma is a threat to humans and reploids a like, they are dangerous. However, this class can also be split into two, depending on the Maverick’s reputation for carnage, which is to say that Vile is on a different end of the spectrum than Chill Penguin when it comes to Gammas. An ambitious Gamma might become a Beta Maverick. Delta: New Mavericks, either newly identified carriers of the virus, or innocent bystanders who were labeled Maverick for being part of the large group. These new mavericks may cause random destruction (wrecking cars, looting, lighting fires), but the difference between a Delta and a Gamma Maverick is that they haven’t tried harming humans. Okay, now let me clear it up with one large example. Think about MMX3, when all of Doppler Town was declared Maverick, the innocent citizens living in the city were deemed Delta Mavericks. The 8 Maverick Bosses, who were the biggest threats inside the city, were the Gamma Mavericks. Dr. Doppler, the head of Doppler Town, was deemed the Beta Maverick. And, of course, controlling Dr. Doppler and many other Maverick Groups, Sigma was the Alpha Maverick. Okay, bounties depend on the Maverick Class. The Heads of Delta Mavericks are only worth a couple of 100z. Gamma Maverick can fetch between 500z and 10,000z, depending on who’s head you bring in. Beta Mavericks can be worth 20,000z to hundreds of thousands of zenny, depending on how large or threatening their group was. The head of an Alpha Mavericks are worth 1,000,000z. The Maverick Hunters don’t usually do a lot of head hunting, because they consider it immoral. It’s the same as taking cadavers from war, and trying to use them for medical studies. However, Hunters do get pay bonuses for defeating Gamma, Beta, and Alpha Mavericks. But, if Maverick blow up when they die, how do they collect the heads? When the enemies’ energy is depleted, before he blows up, his body is paralyzed for 2-10 seconds, a small window of time to chop off the head. That's enough for now, I guess. EDIT: More stuff on Mavericks. The Deliberation Army is a group of Maverick Tribes, all banded together by the second Alpha Maverick, Cutlass Cricket. Ever since the defeat of their General, the DA has been in shambles, but a few charismatic Beta Mavericks are gathering strength to finally wipe out the Maverick Hunters in one fell swoop. According to their official statement, the Deliberation Army is not interested in causing uncontrolled meihem and destruction, they are revolutionaries that want to over throw the Cain Foundation and their laws, which they believe are designed to keep reploids on a leash. IN addition to that, non of the members of the Deliberation Army consider themselves mavericks. Despite their official statement, a good majority of the DA is Maverick, and they do enjoy causing random chaos, making them the targets of the Maverick Hunters. Also, the Deliberation Army isn't a real army: they lack an official chain of command, they more closely resemble a very large mob. Their Generals are only generals by name, as they are Beta Mavericks with many loyal followers. The DA is primarily Animaloids, Mechaloids and only a few humanoid Reploids, because of this, the DA also protests the innate conception that Animaloids are Mavericks. While normally, the DA would have been quashed by the Hunters before it became a global threat, General Cutlas Cricket developt a new type of weapon that turned the tides of war: The Drones. The Drones make up the majority of DAs vast army. Drones were created as an alternative to War Mechaloids, they are cheaper to make, more creative in battle, and completely loyal to the Deliberation Army. In addition to that, being human shaped, the Drones serve the DAs purpose that the humanoids can be responsible for destruction aswell. The Drones come in four shapes. Drone ProtoType: Is a black colored drone, slower moving than then normal Drone, but much stronger. Unlike the later models, the ProtoType had a blaster built into his armor. Drone Type 0: THe red Drone, modeled after Zero. These drones carry blasters, when the weapon is out of energy, they switch to a sabre. These simple drones are the marching force of the DA, wave after wave of them are deployed in battle. Drone Type Sigma: Modeled after the former Alpha Maverick, these are larger and stronger than the Type 0. They are used primarily as guards and the occupation force to police cities conquered by the DA. Drone Type Cutthoat: White and modeled after Cutlass Cricket, these are the only type of Drone that can fly. They are usually seen accompanying Maverick General of the Deliberation army. ...This post was kinda weak. I'll try harder next time. -------------------- |

Name: Herc the Titonimous, AKA HR096
Race: Mechaloid Age: 4 Height: 16 meters Weight: (Super Heavy) Weapons: Super Laser Special Abilities: The Super Laser can be modified to cut through metal and dig into solid earth. His design gives Herc the power to lift and crush objects over forty times his own weight. As well as eyes like powerful telescopes. Physical Description: Human shaped with a strong barrel chest. The metal mechaloid titan is primarily colored gun-metal black with bits of luminecent blue cyber-muscle shinning through his joints. His face is covered by a steel netting designed to keep dirt and debris away from his also blue eyes. His helmet is connected to his back with a thick cable which helps power the Super Laser mounted on the top of his head like a horn. Personality: Blue-collar. Fighting Style: No formal style. Likes: Space Dislikes: Racists Backstory: Herc is a semi retired mechaloid, one of the long line of space titans designed to mine for crystals, the core of reploid design and the fountain of Earth's energy needs in 21XX. Originally known as HR096, he was renamed "Herc" when he joined the restoration effort after the effects of the Eurasia Incident. Seemingly, unsurpassed in strength, he's become a symbol for the salvation of the Earth. -------------------- |

Name: El Diablo Robotico, AKA The Robot Devil
Race: (Maverick) Reploid, Devil Type Age: 5 Height: 5'10 Weight: (Average) Weapons: Eye Beams. Special Abilities: Like all Devil Type reploids/mechaloids, the Robot Devil has the power to transform his body into liquid, or reshape it as he sees fit. In addition, he can transform himself into anybody he wishes. His power to morph makes him difficult to find and almost impossible to kill. Physical Description: The Robot Devil can look like anyone or anything, though his two brilliant red eyes are usually a give away. Personality: Sadistic. Likes to torture humans and reploids alike. Fighting Style: His body is his most deadly weapon, making battles remarkably wild and unpredictable. Likes: Contests. Dislikes: Losing. Backstory: Little is known of where the Robot Devil comes from, though he was first encountered in South America where the Maverick earned the nickname El Diablo Robotico. The Hunter's first encounter with this most dangerous Maverick involved the steady disappearance of humans and reploids. A group of Hunters discovered The Robot Devil's domain, a jungle island populated by robot dinosaurs. The Robot Devil took special glee in watching humans grapple with the fear of being on the bottom of the food chain. The remaining humans and reploids were rescued, but El Diablo Robotico vanished into mist. -------------------- |

Name: Deathtip Poisonpuffer
Race: (Maverick) Animaloid Age: 3 Height: 6'1" Weight: Heavy Weapons: Smart Torpedoes and Missiles. Special Abilities: Super Strength and nearly incurable technorganic poisonous quills. Physical Description: An anthropomorphic pufferfish (AKA Blowfish) with two forms: a lethargic-looking Neutral-form designed to conserve energy, in this form he looks more like an antro-Frog. Second, a large, muscular "Puff" form, a montain of cyber-muscle with a large barrel chest. His armor is green, with yellow/white areas that expand when he puffs up. His skin is blue with small white spots, with a bright pink fin one top of his head like a mohawk. Personality: Unknown. Fighting Style: In his Neutral form, Deathtip is slow and clumsy, even underwater. The Puff Form is much more agile in the water, but still clumsy on land. The missles and torpedoes help balance his superior strength in short range. Likes: Swimming Dislikes: Humans and Maverick Hunters Backstory: A "high ranking" member of the Deliberation Army, Deathtip Poisonpuffer cemented his place among the strongest reploids in the world by sinking three battleships of the Maverick Hunters and Repliforce. As well as killing nameless amounts of other Reploids that encountered him at sea. Deathtip is considered the leader of the DA's aquatic forces. -------------------- |

Name: Submariner Kuma, AKA the Bearfish
Race: Animaloid Age: 4 Height: 7' Weight: Heavy Weapons: Harpoons and an electrified whip. Special Abilities: Super swimming speed. Unlike other marine reploids, Submariner Kuma is very agile outside the water. Physical Description: A large anthropomorphic blue bear. On his back, there is a special tank which absorbs ambient water, converted to steam and released for bursts of speed. When underwater, he wears an under water mask. Personality: Grim. Kuma likes nothing more than hunting and stalking Mavericks. Fighting Style: Relentless, overwhelming strength. Likes: Maverick Hunting Dislikes: Maverick Hunters Backstory: One of the original members of the Red Alert before it was temporarily dissolved, Kuma took the opportunity of the reformation of the Neo Red Alert to regain his glory. He harbors a deep resentment for the Maverick Hunters for causing the fall of the original Red Alert Syndicate. Unlike other Marine Reploids, Kuma doesn't like to limit himself to only one spot, so he relentlessly pursuits Mavericks into cities via rivers, canals, or streams. He's become famous for bursting out of the water like a rocket to pounce on his targets, do his job, and then slide back into the water with their remains, if there is any left. -------------------- |
