A tainted walk., The nightmare behind it all...

A thunderous crash shattered the silence amongst the cliffs of Aszhara. The misty foam splashed up into the crevaces that have been eternally sketched by Elunes design. There he sat. Stoic in posture and emotionless in expression. One fingertip dwindled down to the rock that he was perched on, slightly tracing a dug out rune.

A rune. Was it there for reason...there for purpose...One of lifes great mysteries.
The brilliance of the red hues glimmered out from the gem speckled design. His touch illuminated along every inch of his long slender fingertip. The yellow gleaming pearls of his eyes were also illuminated, matching the distinct nature of the Rune.

Veyl shifted into a semi-kneeling position, eyes shifting towards the ocean in front of him. The Great Sea. What was so great about it...Centuries of torment and dismay have been brought onto these shores bringing with it death and other tragedies. Families lost, lives taken, heartbroken dreams have been cast down upon these jagged cliffs to end their pain...The Great Sea.

"I remember the first time I came here...So many moons ago. Elune herself couldn't drag me away from these cliffs. I sat here for days...looking out into you..hoping you'd give me reason not to throw myself down onto this death," Veyl shifted once again smiling down at the rune beneath him. His finger traced the outer lines, slowly swiping back and forth. The glow began to emerge further from the Rune itself...and a figure was forming. There the ghost of his past formed, smiling up to him. His lost love...the one taken from him without remorse. "This place is sacred to me...you showed me that. But that sea...That sea is something else. I feel a darkness coming that none of us are ready for. "

Veyl stood as the ghost of his love dwindled away into the wind as a shattered ball of light. Each light reflecting into the spray from the incoming tide. His head turned to the side for a moment, eyes peering back at a lone voice on the cliff above... She would stay by his side. He knew that deep within his soul.

"Watch over us..."

The weather had shifted dragging in a slight warm current of air up against the female that stood above him on the cliff. Beautiful blues of the morning sky seemed to create an aura around the young night elf. She was vastly younger then himself, but that didn't seem to bother him. His lips curled up into that child like smile that only appeared when the happiest of moments occured.

If Elunes light were to illuminate anyone for the rest of my days, I do believe I have found the lass that it should be on...

He grinned. The old man felt alive as ever in her presence. Even if he were hundreds of feet below her on the cliffs, his heart pounded deep within his chest from the sights. A lone dove flew by...how astoundingly poetic. He lifted his hand up and waved slightly.

He made his way over to the path that lead up to the clifftops, tugging on the reins of his trusted old friend, his horse.

"I know what you're thinking old man..." he smirked as his elvish hand patted the silver painted steed down. "Don't go thinking I'm not onto you..."

The horse made a small noise, an almost snyde answer, and reared up slightly for the moment. He then pushed his nose against Veyls chest, pushing him back slightly. Veyl knew what he was insisting on, but he just smiled and patted the horse down again.

"Lets make sure that you don't go running off with this one on your back without me...Deal?" Veyl shifted the reins as the pair continued their walk up the muddied path. The dirt was wet from the morning dew and still had the freshly stamped memories of the pairs path down to the water. Now the duo were making a new set of memories that would surely be swept away by the morrows dawn. The breeze had made its way up the path as well, swiftly following their every movement blowing the tall grass into their path. "It seems even the winds want me to becareful...Perhaps my plea is already being answered."

He let out a small laugh as he approached the young elf. His hand loosened up on the reign and was let go into the wind. He admired the young lass. She was the type of person that he thought only came along once in a lifetime...but Elune had looked favorable upon him it seemed....he hoped at least.

"Good morning lass..."

...and with that...She disappeared. The young elf that was inches before him had dwindled and submerged herself into thin air. The long blue tresses that cascaded over her shoulders were the last that he saw flipping to one side of her shoulder. A smile placed so delicately upon her lips faded away into the morning mists that now swarmed onto the cliff tops. Veyls eyes grew sullen, blinking quickly to erradicate the tears that were filtering in. His heart sank in his chest once more...

All an illusion? What kind of twisted nightmare is being brought before me now...Is it another test? Praise Elune, how many must I endure? I grow tired of this...

Veyls eyes searched as best they could through the shadows that have now conformed around him. The air surrounding both him and his steed had grown stale and cold. Even his horse shifted in his place towards Veyl as to not lose him from the strangling grips that the mist has now created. Veyl kept his eyes closed, listening intently to the surroundings hoping for a clue to what is about to come... He didn't understand any of it. One moment he was alone on the shore, the next a woman of amazing beauty stood above him, and now this... His hands gripped tight the weapons at his sides.

The ghosts you see will haunt you until the end of your days Veyl...This is unavoidable. The girl you saw, however, is no ghost...

"I've heard this voice before...You came to me in the woods. You came before the Orcs attacked with their hunting party. How are you now in these lands...Surely I haven't gone mad..." Veyl shifted once again, unsheathing one of his swords slightly. The grip of his elder elvish hands tightened slightly and then let up...as if knowing there was no harm to come...

Mad? You are far from mad. You are merely a victim of your own subconcious memories that have come to physical form...Since you haven't decided to let me go...I will forever be wherever you may be. If it's a comfort, it shall be percieved as such... If you believe me a curse...I cannot dispell that. But believe me Veyl, I will cause you no harm only be the harm that you cause yourself. That is your own doing.

"Such twisted tongue and lies...who was the female that I saw here and disappeared before my very eyes...If it weren't you...who was it? I demand to know!"

You have already come across her once. A part of you reached out to her this morning and she saw the very same thing you did. That rune you touched had more power then you could possibly imagine...It brought you two together in her dream. You will see Veyl...you will see. However... You are right. There is a future coming that no one is ready for. I can watch over you, but you must seek out the girl you saw today. You must do this on your own.

The mist around Veyl and the horse lifted seconds after the spirits final words. They stood there on the cliff surrounded with questions and no answers...Who was this girl? What was coming? Why is it so important for him to find her...

That was for Veyl to find out...
