Title: people cook?
Ishonbu - May 19, 2007 11:00 PM (GMT)
I like taking pictures. Matron hates getting his picture taken. Food, on the other hand, doesn't run away screaming every time I bring the camera out.
SO!
Since I moved out I resumed cooking a whole hell of a lot though I try to fit it around raid times during the week it sometimes takes a little longer than I expect.
I get in a mood where I read a lot of cooking blogs and then go off and make some things and take pictures of them that don't nearly come out as cool looking!
BUT practice makes perfect so I'm gonna keep making random crap and taking pictures of it. I prolly won't subject everyone to them however! But I'm too lazy to start a blog that 2 people will read at the moment.
This was breakfast this morning before I had to cut it up so the roomate could have some. Cheddar, italian green pepper and spinach omelet with bacon:

and hrm.. dinner is braised short ribs with sweet parmesan polenta and cabbage.

This plate will probably be making a cameo in every food picture i take XD
Anyway now that I've got that out of my system.. feel free to ignore this completely ^_^

I don't have any nice dishes =(

Whatever. I notice the green writing on your signature. It's subconscious but you can't get enough of the green.

ooooh I love empanadas. Do you put raisins in yours? I'm a fan of the seafood kind too with shrimp and a slaw or garlic and tomato.
That soup looks awesome. Last week I had asopao de camarones... mmm. I should have taken a picture!
Quince jelly.. hrm I'd probably put a mild cheese in to counteract the sweetness! I don't fare well with jelly-things alone.
I'm baking a chicken tonight and making some homestyle-ish potatoes. ^_^

Stunn - June 1, 2007 05:13 AM (GMT)
My dinner consisted of...
This is a dish, taught to me by my great grandmother, that consists of a ham and cheese, surrounded by a crisp, flakey crush... baked to perfection.

Next, I had this scrumptious oriental shaped salt with a dash of chicken broth. (Yes broth... all you hardcore vegetarians better start running!)

All of this -godlike- food, being washed down by the beverage of choice. Boddingtons! Beer tastes better being under-aged and all... and with that only lasting 2 more days, have to take advantage of it!

There ya have it folks, dinner of a champion!!!
(Ish... id like to see ya top that!) :violin:
Ishonbu - June 1, 2007 05:27 AM (GMT)

o.o
not surprisingly that shelf was like the first thing we actually got set up in the house.
Maedras - June 1, 2007 07:45 PM (GMT)

we had some "wrapped Kids" (not the best name for food) made with meat, olives, green onion, garlic wrapped in cabbage. we had some pumpkin soup too but it wasnt so magic :P

this week I made way too much pasta sauce so I've been using it different ways:
first day, with cheese ravioli (yeah >.> it just looks like a moat of sauce):

second day, on spaghettini with half a seared filet mignon:

third day, on mini pita pizzas with beef and stuff:
Jaede - June 9, 2007 07:13 PM (GMT)
Cream Puffs! With extra cream too... what to do what to do...

^_^'
So... they were a bit bigger than planned... >.> But they taste good. White Pastry with Vanilla Cream Pudding Mmmmmmm....
Stunn - June 10, 2007 04:28 AM (GMT)
I hate you all, I really do.
Ishonbu - June 10, 2007 06:58 AM (GMT)
oooooooh.. .cream puffs! I haven't had them in so long :hklove:
I don't have a mixer yet or clear counter space to make very many sweets! Working on it though. ^_^
I <3 the choice of DVD
Oh this is the night, it's a beautiful night
And we call it bella notte
Look at the skies, they have stars in their eyes
On this lovely bella notte.
Side by side with your loved one,
You'll find enchantment here.
The night will weave its magic spell,
When the one you love is near!
Oh this is the night, and the heavens are right!
On this lovely bella notte!annnd for the extra cream you could make a little tartlet and put fresh fruit on top! or skip the crust altogether and make a sort of parfait! raspberries, blueberries and strawberries... or peaches and cinnamon-baked apples or pineapple and mango or or or .. you get the idea ^_^;;
made french bread pizza that my roomate ate up the night before so I made another one with sausage:

and I still have sauce left ~_~ I'm running out of things to put it on, really.
braising pork for dinner tomorrow! buta no kakuni awaits. ^_^
edit: crappy picture of buta because I forgot to take it before I ate so here's it in the tupperware for lunch tomorrow >.>
it has ginger, leeks, soy sauce and sake in there along with some garlic and sambal pepper stuff. ^_^ oh, and an egg.
Ishonbu - June 12, 2007 04:14 AM (GMT)
finally got rid of all the sauce... o.o

This is our alcohol shelf

We have more beer in the extra fridge in the loft and we have some wine and stuff in the kitchen/fridge.
I'll have to start taking pictures of the food I make, like the blue cheese stuffed hamburgers I made the other night....
Ishonbu - June 16, 2007 04:56 PM (GMT)
good stuff! take pictures!
bleu cheese and hamburgers = yum ^_^
my roomie drank all my malibu... but we went to the wine shop close by and came dangerously close to moving in. It's like being an alcoholic kid in a candy store. :P
today and for the next few weekends they're having a tasting of this weird mixture of vodka, champagne and some "exotic fruit" flavor that's targeted at girls (it's very, very pink)
my food and the beer war for control of the fridge daily and we're running out of shelf space in the closet for the wine and stuff.
Just got the new bacardi peach rum! tasty.. It even went well in this mojito mix, surprisingly.
pork chop with fried rice (rice was leftovers):

honey-balsamic roasted duck leg with sour cream mashed potatoes:

pork and chive dumplings with sauce ( i just made the sauce >.>) :

D - you need to get this
zenand just to keep the food theme running, a few weeks back I was experimenting with healthier desserts so I took some filo dough and made little cupcake type holders out of them (knew those muffin tins would come in handy!). Then I filled them with a mixture of yogurt (I think this was key lime) and marscaponi cheese. On top you see blackberries and shaved chocolate (gogo knife skills for the shavings)

pie for father's day... was fresh peach ^_^ everything's from scratch and boy do I not want to do that again for a while.
crappy lighted picture in my kitchen (i think i cut the vents too long the top kinda broke apart :P):

mid consumption:

there's a peach-blueberry one in the oven now baking for the roomie and I. It was going to be just blueberry but 1) I had leftover peaches and 2) I accidentally left 2 of the blueberry containers on the stove and the plastic (and blueberries) got hot and melted. >.>
Ishonbu - June 18, 2007 05:13 AM (GMT)
this one I didn't cut the vents deep enough so the filling kinda bubbled out on the sides:
