Title: Pokemon Black and White

Confederacy - March 6, 2011 09:11 PM (GMT)
Just came out today in the US. Anyone getting it? I got fan-translated Roms from the Pokemon Project team and so far it's pretty good. Just like the others.

Sorry i stopped playing Pokemon when Diamond and pearl came out. Not entirely sure why but did.

Lintire - March 7, 2011 12:36 AM (GMT)
I really, really, am not a fan of playing what is essentially the same game with minor graphical updates over and over.

It's like football games for nerdier people.

I didn't know Triple Battles, Rotation Battles, combination moves, a revamped beginning, and season system to name a few were in every single Pokemon game. I should certainly stop playing then.

Catch pokemon, catch more pokemon, collect badges, ????, PROFIT, now do the same thing a few more times if you so do not mind.

I hear that tournaments, and moon-stones, and a bunch of other shit weren't in the original games to begin with, and I still played them through, but I'm just so fucking sick of them now.

They don't FEEL any different, whether it's your Wii version of your handhelds, it still feels like the same damn game.

I stopped playing when Gold and Silver came out. I just can't take any of the new Pokemon seriously, and since the gameplay has stayed largely the same since the originals, why not just stick with the versions that had the best Pokemon and skip the rest?

Lintire - March 7, 2011 12:58 AM (GMT)
Then you'd just be making the same damn game for each new handheld. You've got to add a bit of glitter, apparently.

I was speaking from a consumer's perspective, not developer's perspective.

Well, as someone who loved the originals and didn't like the rest, I would say to keep to it, but the one game being remade so many times just seems... boring.

Or you could just bring your old ones over to the new game and do that. Besides, I haven't played Pokemon since Ruby/Sapphire, so diving back into the games is what I want to do. Or better yet, just download a translated ROM of it instead of buying the damn game.

To anyone who thinks that the new generation of Pokemon are gay, I have one word for you - Smugleaf.

That being said, I haven't played a Pokemon game in probably 6 or 7 years.

Well, there are exceptions to most rules. In their scrabbling around for new ideas its understandable that they'd run into one or two gemstones.

But for most of the original generation, most of those were priceless - you could see the thought being put into them.

Limbob - March 7, 2011 08:17 AM (GMT)
Ruby and safire was where pokemon designs started to fall. By Diamond and pearl they were failing with only some being exception. I'm honestly not going to bother any more.

But by far the most awesome pokemon is mew.

ZyreX - March 7, 2011 05:24 PM (GMT)
There were only 150 pokemons, I'm going to leave it at that.

Lintire - March 7, 2011 11:23 PM (GMT)
Spoken like a true elitist.

151. I never figured out how (if you could) to catch mew but he was well known enough that he counts in the original.

ZyreX - March 8, 2011 04:19 AM (GMT)
What mew? There were only 150.

Alright, I re-read something on bulbapedia, it's 151.

Lintire - March 8, 2011 07:36 AM (GMT)
How about "first 2 generations" to keep it snappy.

Gunnz - March 9, 2011 11:44 AM (GMT)
I didn't mind it up through Gold and Silver, but then it got really gay, really quickly.

That is all.

Arbok needs one, too.
