Evil is back.
Drizen - October 24, 2010 04:22 AM (GMT)
I was going to post the Demon Hunter addition a couple days ago, but eh... lazy. :3
Anyways, I'm just glad there is finally a class that I'm really interested in. Looks fun. I hope PvP is balanced.

Nice to see that Blizzard is ready to demonstrate their sense of humour every now and again. Figure if I pull some sort of hilarious scam, might get the same treatment? Must be like... royalty.

Who gives a shit what Activision thinks.
Lintire - February 12, 2011 11:03 AM (GMT)
What Confed said. Activision has proven itself time and time again to be completely full of shit. So disfargeging all that stuff.
Confederacy - February 2, 2012 01:06 PM (GMT)

I'll do a written LP (lolrpgcodex) or just a small review after I change my pants and play it. We'll see.
Trollocide - February 2, 2012 11:38 PM (GMT)
Holy shit I just got a beta test invitation too.
Confederacy - February 2, 2012 11:53 PM (GMT)
*brofist*
I've still yet to play it... wait no, I already have. But I'm going to hold onto revealing my opinion until I've played some of the other classes that isn't the Barbarian. Maybe even hit some co-op.
Lintire - February 3, 2012 07:58 AM (GMT)
Days like this where I sincerely wish that I actually had a gaming PC.
Trollocide - February 3, 2012 09:14 AM (GMT)
Well I barely managed to squeeze in a chance to play it to level 5 so far. I have been cautiously enjoying it.
I say "cautiously" because I was immediately turned off by the near-copy pasta resemblance the main game menu has to World of Warcraft. The music also had a bit too much of a Warcraft vibe to it and it wasn't really feeling like Diablo. Then I got into the actual gameplay, and that quickly changed. The interface and controls became much more similar to Diablo, but with necessary refinements which I am so far pleased with. The music and sounds are definitely Diablo, the blasting away of hordes of zombies and undead shit is just as satisfying as before (if not more so, your shots really feel like they have impact).
The graphics are slightly disappointing--mainly as far as character models are concerned. The environments are otherwise pretty well-done and the game runs pretty smooth on my machine with all settings maxed out. I also haven't totally figured out the new skill system; it doesn't seem like Diablo 2's at all. I have no idea if I'm wasting points or not.
Overall, Blizzard can still suck my dick over the always-online DRM requirement and the removal of LAN play yet again, but these issues aside the game is fun to play so far. I'm going to finish playing as a demon hunter and then try the wizard class next.

Pretty much the same way with your opinion on the menu Driz. I've tried out most of the classes, and beat the beta with the Barbarian. Which once again, he continues to be the best classes in the entire Diablo series. Though I am gaining some new appreciation with the Monk currently. The Demon Hunter is too slow at the moment, and the Witch Doctor's starting skills suck. I've still yet to try the Wizard.
I love what I've played, very nostalgic while feeling new. I think a day one purchase in the Winter of 2014 seems to be in order for me.
Trollocide - February 4, 2012 07:26 AM (GMT)
As fun as the game is so far, the only reason I'll be making a day one purchase is because of the auction house. If it weren't for the fact that I'm going to be able to recover the $60 spent on the game, I wouldn't bother with it. I cannot in good conscience support what Blizzard is doing with DRM, and they do not get to have a free pass on it just because they're Blizzard. What they are doing is setting a very bad precedent for the future of PC games.
...But they DO get a free pass on it if I can make money off of it. :3 I mean fuck dude, if I can just quit my part-time job and farm Diablo III for loot all day, sorry mates, but I'll sell out for that any day.
Lintire - February 4, 2012 07:48 AM (GMT)
Oh yeah, DRM. That's why I was never going to get the game. Real shame.

I honestly wish you luck on that venture, but that sure is some wishful thinking.
Trollocide - February 4, 2012 05:21 PM (GMT)
It is? I'm not expecting to make huge bank from this game nor am I intending to make a career out of it. What I AM expecting is that it can at least make the equivalent of a shitty low-paying part-time job, and if even that is too naive, then I can't see this real money auction house taking off since no one can really profit from it.
Yip - February 4, 2012 05:44 PM (GMT)
Well, plenty of MMOs (I realize Diablo III isn't an MMO) have had systems like this before, and very few people end up profiting off of these kinds of things minus the ones that invest huge amounts of capital for farmers, etc. as I'm sure will happen with this game. Someone will farm with multiple accounts, be able to sell everything for dirt cheap, and undercut you in the process.
Then again, this is all speculation. If you end up turning a livable profit, more power to you.
Confederacy - February 4, 2012 06:03 PM (GMT)
If it's any indication with Diablo II's ebay auctions, Diablo III's real money auction house will succeed about the same. I don't know what, but it appears that people are just too damn addicted to Blizzard's games that they are willing to blow $20 on a custom level 90 character for the Battle.net US ladders. I'm pretty sure the farmers will pretty much have majority of the RMAH in their grips as usual for any MMO (or game that has an auction house - which is none) as Yip said, but hey, you never know.
Speaking of Diablo III, we should hit up co-op on this beta Drizzle sometime.

The wage I'm making right now isn't even livable. XD Like I said, my standards are already set pretty low. Really all I seek is a small source of income to dump into paying off my college bills until I graduate. Though there is a very likely possibility that people could try to do the things you're suggesting. However, Blizzard has a financial interest in keeping the market steady. If fewer people are using it because it's not profitable, then Blizzard makes less money on the transactions made through it. They've stated already that they are anticipating these types of problems like gold inflation and item value deflation and they intend to address them. How well they actually regulate these issues remains to be seen though.

Agreed. Then I can try out the wizard class with you. I have quite a bit of homework to do this weekend but I'll see if I can jump on next week--maybe late Sunday/Monday. Is your info up-to-date in the all-encompassing thread? I'm not sure if you're still on my Bnet friends list or not.

I'm down with that. I'm not sure if I am, you can probably check on StarCraft 2 or WoW if you still play that. I'd check, but I'm not home at the moment.

I think I see your name on my friends list but it says the last time you logged in was over 25 weeks ago. Did you create a new account?
Confederacy - February 10, 2012 05:38 PM (GMT)
No, I haven't created a new account. The last time I played StarCraft 2 was back on August 12th. I logged in and yeah, I still have to listed in my friends list.
Trollocide - February 11, 2012 03:08 AM (GMT)
I'm not entirely certain the D3 beta carries over your Real ID friends, so I might have to re-add you with your BattleTag + number code.
Confederacy - February 11, 2012 09:21 PM (GMT)
Yeah, that's probably the case. Are you up for it tonight or tomorrow? Or are you busy with homework again?
Shadow - February 12, 2012 12:31 AM (GMT)
Guess who's not playing Beta? Yeah.
:l
Trollocide - February 12, 2012 02:24 AM (GMT)
Doing homework tonight. Tomorrow would be doable.

llbg2 - February 12, 2012 09:16 PM (GMT)
Absolutely. Got into the StarCraft II Beta (which I actually never downloaded).

@Driz - My BattleTag is Antioxicate#1805. Getting on Steam would make this easier though.

I'll probably be jumping on around 8:30 CST.
