Title: Supercharged AE111 Corolla from Cardiff

ae111sr - March 20, 2011 05:48 PM (GMT)
Hello, I signed up a couple of years ago after Kimi mentioned the club to me but haven't posted yet so it's about time I introduced myself and my Corollas. I've been driving Corollas since 1992 when I bought an AE92 Corolla GTi - I kept this for about 6 years. Then I bought a brand new AE111 Corolla SR 3 door hatch which I still own though it's been tweaked a bit. My current daily drive is a 2006 Corolla SR 2 litre turbo diesel.

The 1998 Corolla now has a supercharged 4A-GZE engine from a 1993 Japanese domestic market Toyota Levin GT-z. This has a front mont intercooler, MoTeC M4 standalone EMS and Aquamist water injection and is producing a proven 198bhp. Car has Cusco Zero 2 coilovers and Rays TE-37 rims with Toyo Proxes T1-R rubber. Body has TTE 'WRC' front bumper, TTE 'WRC' rear spoiler and Corolla G6R sideskirts. Inside there are SPA 'dual digital' gauges, Innovate AFR meter, a Momo Fighter steering wheel and recovered MR2 front seats. Here's some pictures

I was chuffed to have the Corolla featured in the July 2010 edition of Japanese Performance though it's since been in the paint shop having a full re-paint in original colours.
Hope you like it.
Lots more info and pictures on my website

Hi John,

Glad you finally posted on here :)

As you know, I think your car is superb! You've done some sterling work there and I can honestly say it's the nicest example I persoanlly have seen. Everything is subtle and tasteful and you've got some quality parts on there.

Top work

A belated welcome to the Boost :D

Stunning car this.

Looks very tastefully modified and a superb collection of high quality parts have obviously been used.

This Corolla pretty much sums up what modding is about IMO.

Welcome to the Boost too!

One of my favourite cars ever this... always a shame they never put a proper motor in it; glad to see you've remedied that!

Remember this? :)

Hi folks, thanks for the kind words, much appreciated. It's taken me a while to get it to this stage (been working on it since the engine transplant way back in 2003) but I think it's been worth it.

Martin, yes I do remember that, It was in Margam Park just about 30 minutes drive away from me.

It was watching carlos pilot these that made me fall in love with them! Been snooping round your excellent website... have you got any recent pics of the back end? Does it still have the same exhaust in your 'old gallery'? This car is ace!

Martin, it still has the same exhaust. It's a shame that the company who made it, Stealth Systems of Southampton, are no longer in business. Thankfully there's now a place in Cardiff Pro-Speed that do suberb exhaust work.

I've seen two of these in recent months... thought they only made 450 total?

Sorry for the late reply. Yes Toyota only made 450 - one for each dealer at the time. Thanks for the brochure link - I actually have one of the original ones from my local dealer. They brought out the G6R about 6 months after I bought my Corolla SR - at the time I wished I'd waited but if I'd bought one I might not have modified it. It's swings and roundabouts I suppose.

If anyone is interested I'll be at Japfest at Castle Combe with the Corolla Club UK. If anyone is going stop by and say hello.

Cheers
John
