"Well, with or without the majesty's, I still congradulate you. " I smiled, glancing back at Jacoby. Almost full grown, and I was rather proud of how he turned out. "Hopefully nothing aside from your title will change, and if anything does, it'll be for the better. But in the meantime, it seems your living Jacoby's dream to be able to get a harem of mares forming already..." It was a little awkward for me to bring this up, since over time I had grown to like Ren without even being in his harem. But after Blacksmith, I was scared to even mention becoming a part of his harem.

"Also, since the War doesn't seem to be an immediate threat on our horizon, I've decided to...Ah, let's say, "retire" from ruling. Ren, my only remaining child and sole heir, will take my place as King of Zin. I've already discussed this matter with him - and he agreed to become King whenever I decided to back down, and he has graciously offered us the titles of Elders once he is crowned." I cocked my diadem, unsure of what to make of this. Shade no longer the Alpha of the Desert? Then where did that quite leave me? I know that most alphas like to keep a harem of mistresses at their sides but what happens to them once they retire? More importantly, what happens to me? I don't even know this Ren character.. A dainty flint struck the loose sand. Maybe it was time to move on? Shade had already made his priorities clear and had also named an alphess. Prancing around the desert unsure of where I belong doesn't sound like too good of a plan. I'd just be getting in the way of Shade and the others. Besides, I'm... young. Just turned eight.. And this will give me the opportunity to really seek out my sister. My last couple attempts have failed but that's because I had other duties to consider. But if I truly dedicate myself to this.. ooc//Ha! |

My pale gaze follows her's towards Jacoby, white tipped audda were perked forward as I listened intently. "But in the meantime, it seems your living Jacoby's dream to be able to get a harem of mares forming already..." I frowned, slightly. Yes, I knew I'd "inherited" my father's harem, as well as whatever I'd made of my own while still a Prince. But, in all honesty, having several mares compete for my attention and affection was slightly bothersome. Pale hues flickered back to Xyroca. "Yes, I suppose so. But I'd rather live a monogamous life; though I can see it'll be slightly hard to avoid eventually." [x] Aww. Colette can't leave! D: [/x] |

The good mood she'd obtained from chatting with Ren had long since faded. It was a long and tedious hike to the Desert. The sun beat down on her thin coat, and she was glad she wasn't black, instead of whispy silver. Sand floated up around her hocks, some of it going so far as to venture inside one of her nostrils as she walked. Exhausted, it was all she could do to keep from collapsing. This time it wasn't from sadness; it was from dehydration. Spotting a sparkling oasis, Silk changed courses and plodded over to it. The Arabian lowered her proud head, drinking her fill. Why had she followed that stallion back here, anyway? Hadn't she decided that stallions were bad news? In a foul mood, she cast a glare at the two mares she saw. That little green beastie inside her reared its ugly head for a moment, then Silk let it die. Why even bother? She wouldn't be able to get a stallion; and if she did, she'd be too overwhelmed with guilt to actually do anything. Besides, wasn't she part of Ren's Harem? Whatever that was. Even angrier than before, she pinned her ears and strayed over to the small group of horses, ready to cause some trouble should someone make her uncomfortable. [ooc] sorreh, it's vereh short and crappy. XD [/ooc] lovemeforever |

The painted mare perked her ears to the newcomer, then swiveled one back to Ren. This must be one of his newer mares. She looked across the members of her herd. There seemed to be old members popping up everywhere. Well, she was just happy that the herd was getting back together. She snorted and swiveled her ears once more to her father. She liked Shade - he seemed nice enough - but she felt as if she hardly knew this stallion. True, they were related by blood, but he was just . . . /different/ somehow. She didn't have very clear images of what her sire used to be, but she did know that he had changed in some way. She just couldn't name it.
Rose nickered a greeting to the newcomer, but didn't bother to go and introduce herself to her. She didn't feel as if whatever she did in this herd mattered anymore. She remembered when this herd consisted of few besides herself and Shade. She remembered being madly in love with him. She remembered a lot of things, but for some reason, none of them were the same, now. Why had this place changed? She often siched that she could go back, but she knew that these were simply hopeless dreams. Her black-rimmed audda flicked back in annoyance as she glowered at her hooves. Right now, she hated the world - but then she happened to look up and saw the growing herd before her. There was Shade - the first stallion that she had ever fallen in love with. He seemed happy, watching his son ruling over them. One ear pricked forward as the other relaxed, her anger subsiding. Oh, well. Whatever this change was, she and Marigold would have to work through it together to make this home even better than it used to be. |

True, this was best for what Zin needed. But... my thoughts were working at a rapid pace. Too many decisions. Zin hadn't felt the same in a long time. It must have been the dead period, I assumed. when everyone, for lack of better terms, deserted the desert. Colette and I had stood by Shade, and Ren had once again became loyal. Part of me wanted to resent them all, for leaving when things weren't as exciting or carefree as before. Then part of me would forgive and forget, be happy. I chose the former for the time being. I listened politely, nodded appropriately. Stood by my mate. It was odd thinking of myself as an elder, considering I was barely over half as old as Shade. Some would dissaprove of my relationship with Shade, my family for sure. He was old enugh to be my grandfather, true, but love knows that age is just a number. Of course I wouldn't bring this up, the other herd members needed nome other reasons to dissaprove of me. I smiled politely to the newcomer, though she was really more of Ren's business. |

My pale blue pools flickered over towards the others. I watched as Rose and Mahrigold made their exist. Oh, no. Hopefully my father wouldn't, or didn't, notice their departure. It would be a blow to his pride, and probably make him fear the further downfall of Zin. I shook my head softly, my gaze darting away, before they found the familiar hue of Silk. With a easygoing grin, I pardoned myself from Xyroca for a brief moment to welcome Silk. "Silk! I'm glad you decided to come, after all," I remark, very aware my father's earth brown hues were boring holes into my back. I watched Ren, carefully, as he greeted the silver hued Arabian that entered Zin's small herd. I couldn't help but realize, and admire, that my son had a very good taste for appearances, as well as a mare's personality. It was obvious his mother had taught him some things, and my own lessons were doing just fine for him, as he greeted the Arabian. My earth brown hues tear themselves away from Ren - who's probably feeling self-conscious from my boring gaze by now - to turn to Queen. I smile softly, before speaking, "What is on your mind, m'dear?" |

I centered back to reality, chocolate orbs focusing on Shade as he spoke. "What is on your mind, m'dear?" What's on my /mind/? Life, for one. This stupid war, for two. My deep longing for that special something, three. "Just... a bit homesick, I guess." Was all I said. And it was true. Oakwood was the best I ever had. I almost wished I could go back, to see the rolling green hills, and snow-capped mountains in the distance. To look along that seemingly endless fence. Almost. Of course I would never want to leave Shade, and the other herd members, who may be future friends. My family would have been nice to revisit, though. |

My smile falters, before fading away as my own gaze tears itself from her, knowing I wasn't getting the full story. My dark brown hues focus on some inferior shape in the distance, as splotched audials pinned back. It was becoming more and more obvious that the War was not on the immediate horizon, as I'd assumed it to be. I'd been hasty for nothing, yet for something as I realized most of Zin's members appreciated Ren. Now, realizing there was so much time left between now and the War, I shook my scarred diadem softly. How could we fill in the space? I knew Ren was trying this hardest to expand Zin's members, but we idled here with nothing to do; nothing to atleast put some effort into. |
