Does anybody out there love to Bream fish. I quite fishing about 15 years ago, when I was building my own house, took me a year and a half, every minute I had off of work, and just never started back, but last year I went a few times in a pond and now I'm hooked again. Been going to Core Creek Landing about 20 miles east of Kinston on HWY 55. This creek feeds into the Neuse river. We did good two weeks ago but not so hot last weekend because of too much fresh water from the big rains, people say this place holds some real nice sized Bream, anybody else fished it. One guy here at work said he caught a two and three quarter pound Shellcracker out of there, and another guy that was fishing there Sat. said he caught 6 over 2 pounds one day last year. We are going back Sat..

My grandaddy used to be a bass and bream guide on the New River in N.C. so he knows all the good spots down there but we love to bream fish out there and in North West River especially with fly rods. I love using crickets and cane poles thats my favorite way to do it. But I love to bass fish too.

We use Breambusters, telescoping cane poles, with crickets or worms, a nice Bream will give you fit with these sensitive rods. also love to use ultra-light rod and reel with Beetle spins and jigs, got 4# test on mine. Moving along slowly in a one man plywood boat with a paddle in a swampy creek, sends chills down my spine thinking of the days I've spent there having alot of fun, hooking up with those big river robins and hearing the line sing like a banjoe while he pulls the boat about. Life just don't get no better than that, cann't believe I gave it up for so long.

Core Creek and around that area is a good a place as any. if you feel like a change of scenery go to sane beach in grimesland and put over there. that is some very good bream fishing as well

Maybe I can give that a try some time BC, never have been to these big creeks before this year, I use to just fish the swamp creeks and lakes around my house but with the hurricains blowing so many trees over, you cann't get back in them much anymore so its off to bigger waters and I'm just learning some of the spots to go.

wink.gif If you like change ,we have been using the Berkley Gulp Maggots and catching the mess out of some big bream. They seem to be working better than crickets in my area, plus you dont have to keep them alive after you get home.Just a hint.
