Weekend Events

If anyone has any ideas for special Friday-Weekend events, feel free to pitch them in here! We've got another half a quarter to go afterall~

I recall we've got Bolwing on the agenda coming up if people are interested. Or for something more low budget, how would people feel about trying a Photo Scavenger Hunt? We could do a combination of "normal" things (Three apples and an orange) and more "anime-ish" things (Two people doing the DBZ fusion dance.)

Feel free to discuss. New ideas are always most welcome, too~ The best events are the ones you guys would be interested in! =3

How about going down to Little Tokyo for a day?

I've been meaning to go down there for a few weeks, and have all the train info worked out. I just haven't had a ride to the train station. There are two Metrolink trains in the morning (8 and 10) and then two in the evening (4 and 7, I believe?) and it's 15 bucks round trip. It's about a 10 minute walk from L.A. Union Station to get to Little Tokyo, but once you're there, it's a wonderland of figurine shops, anime stores, Japanese confectioneries, FOOOOD, and a GIGANTIC Japanese bookstore with a manga section that takes up about half the store.

It's a bit of a schlep though, and getting there would entail getting up earlier, because after the last train at night, there's an Amtrak (which is 14 bucks one way) later that night (9 PMish?) and spending more money is not optimal. Plus if we miss that, it's either staying overnight or taking the midnight bus down to the train station.

I'd be up for Karaoke again, too XD

ooh I am all for going to Little Tokyo. yet the problem lies with transportation and willingness to spend some cash for anime shopping expenses. hmm this is just asking for my wallet to burn a hole in my pants.

However i love this idea.

Part of transportation issues. Not sure if all people are willing to spend the time on the public transportation. If not that but commuting by cars is a bit since the parking can get pricey.

xD Then add how pricey things can get in Little Tokyo as well.

Yeah, I usually did public transportation because it was a lot easier than parking in the super expensive lots down in LT.

Of course, it'd probably be the same as the cost for parking to take public trans down. The difference is the gas money...

It would still be much cheaper for everyone to drive (saying that there would be enough drivers...) imo.

And as weekend events are coming up it looks like we are booked. This week is empty, other than I suppose watching Gurren Lagann, and next week will be bowling, followed by Karaoke to finish it all off. But... I was thinking that since next Wednesday is off, that may be a good opportunity.

What do you all think?

hmm sound like using that off day could be a good idea. everyone would most likely still be on campus since it affects the days off during the weekday.

yet sadly my $ will be depleeted due to housing expenses

Yeah, I'd have to save up a bit / beg for money from grandmother / move some money around before then...
