Shoutbox Related Issues

Just a few things regarding the shoutbox.

Firstly, if your posts are not showing up, just keep trying. We have had this problem before and the shoutbox moves on after a while.
Secondly, please do not flame other users in the Shoutbox. There are ways for us to determined who you are (either by monitoring your posts or a way only Admins can perform) so please don't do it.
Thirdly, anyone who visits the site can view and post in the shoutbox so try to be as welcoming as you can to anyone, just like you would with a new member.
Fourthly, if you cannot post in the Shoutbox but would like to say something, here is the place to say it. For example, I cannot post in the shoutbox at the moment so I would like to tell best_of_the_best that I have approved his account and he can now post.
Fifthly, imposing other members and giving them a bad reputation can be found out and members will be banned for this.
Sixthly, blatant flaming of the site is not allowed.
Finally, any other problems with the shoutbox, post it here.

This thread is mainly here to stop all the spam about the shoutbox coming up in other threads. IT is also a place for anyone who needs it to get help.

We are also thinking of a way to password protect the shoutbox so only trusted members can use it. I personally trust the members here and hope that we don't have to resort to this. Please use the shoutbox respectively.

Fifthly, it should be.

i don't know if i should put it here (please don't flame for doing so, i thought this was the right place), but i think the shoutbox should be revamped, so that it fits with this skin..

it's green now, there are really few good options for colour schemes.

Okay, I made a thread for this and casti told me to come here. I'm having issues accessing the shoutbox, it occasionally appears , but most of the time it isn't there. When it ain't there it looks like this- http://i18.tinypic.com/66yq8up.jpg

xprofile strikes back! silver, we must fix that code...

oh and about the shoutbox (yeah, on topic), it sometimes doesn't load for me (ff "page could not load" message appeared where the shoutbox should be). it was because my connection was too busy handling up and downloads. but i don't know what may be wrong in your case.

When the internet is really slow, it sometimes refuses to load things, so if the site was being slow, it gave up on loading the cbox because it was taking too long. o:

I really don't think the name thing is Xprofile either, unless it has a conflict with another code.

I like the idea of passwording it, but the shoutbox isn't meant to be passworded..

Actually i converted him to a point where he wasn't actually spamming any more. Just discussing murder, weaponary, macdonalds and burgulary.

I had this Java Chat Code for Aeon that I could give to you guys. I'm gonna be using it, too, but it's a chatroom, and people can be kicked out and banned and such.

I loved the Shoutbox, you could talk about anything and it's a shame that it got spammed. I personally like the idea of having a validated,unbanned account to post in it. It must be codable surely?

if you can get a good shoutbox which needs registration, then feel free to link us.

The Java Chat sounds like a good idea. I think it's like SPP Chat. You can have staff and you can kick people for 5 minutes or ban them for a few days. And you can register your email and username with a password, but you have to use this code to log in.

I know for a fact that alot of the blame rests with me, sorry. I flamed him a lot. Anyways, any type of chat-type thing would be good.
