tried something new again, this time it's more of a static thing, it only moves when you click on it (read further for instructions). here some examples:

[da link]

Instructions:

HOW TO:

CLICK (on the black parts): each of four black shapes of a tile animate independently between two positions.

CTRL+CLICK: rotate tile 90°.

CLICK AND HOLD (on the red bg): a red circle grows from the middle, eventually looping.

SHIFT+CLICK: erases/resets the red circle.
more experiments. it's a bit smoother and less monotonous. different actions on mouseover and click.

mouse over and click please. endless loops occur when you move out of a tile too quickly after clicking.

description...ish:

Matt says:
It's nice, pretty cool, I have no idea what it's for mind you
casti says:
it's just...
a tile thing...
for...
looking at it and going wow
and going clicky
and goig haha
and yeah...
it's like...
art
but
design.
it has no purpose other than creating something simple and effective, interactive, and... yeah...
Matt says:
So it's just to be cool
casti says:
yup

and it actually is this semester's design course project. enjoy the uselessness s01.png

all kinds of c+c or ideas appreciated, i'm new to flash and i'm currently just testing stuff.

PS: dA won't allow you to submit flash animations unless you apply for a film submission thing whatever... sucks.
thanks, although i must said that first try got me tired rather quickly, needed more variety...
what do you think about the second one? turns out the on-click effect is heart-shaped and that was completely unintentional o.0 still playing with the animated line though... not sure what i'm trying to do...

all this was inspired by music (as part of the assignment is thinking of this as an album cover), the rhombus effect from the white stripes' seven nation army video, the white lines from the album and single covers of them crooked vultures (although those are black and not white), and the overall palette from both of them.
i was thinking of making a sort of zebra pattern animation inspired by the cover of the strokes' first impressions of earth too... and finally some sort of iso-grid tiling based on arabic patterns... still must find the time to mess around with those ideas...

of course these are experiments which means i'll try to combine them the best possible way in the end...
