September / October Contest

Categories are as follow:

• dA CS Account Avatar Contest:
  Rules:
  - It must fit in the size limits: 50x50 pixels, no outline (it might be added later on)
  - It must be pixel Art, color limited at 32, although that much shouldn't be needed. No transparency.
  - Animation NOT allowed, only still frames will be accepted (1 per person for now, if we don't get many entries we can allow more later on)
  - It must contain the initials "CS" in it, draw or written, any size, any place. It doesn't need to be the focus point of the image, just visible enough.
  - It can only be composed by the CS color scheme: green/blue and white-to-black. (no noticeable reds, yellows, or violets allowed). Colors can be adjusted post contest (read further).
  - You can freely use CS emotes and icons as well as feature fakemon from the dex in your entries, just remember that it may not work with the size limits.
  
  
  Entries will be put up for a public poll. The top three will receive awards.
  Most entries will be featured in an animated GIF avatar for the C Spriting deviantART account! (i reserve the right to exclude certain entries if i feel they don't fit, nothing personal, just remember this is as important as the website banner for presentation).
  
  
  
  
• Halloween's On It's way:
  Here you have some time to think about it. Rules:
  - Halloween themed pixel art of any kind!
  - Must be pixel art.
  - Must be Halloween themed.
  - Easy right?

Any questions, just post here. Deadline is October 31st after midnight*!

Thanks for not having a size restriction on the Halloween one, that's what's been stopping me from entering most of the contests you've had *likes big pixelart *
Anyways, will get started on my entry.

size restrictions make it easier for voters. when you have some huge piece of artwork next to a tiny icon sized sprite, many will simply be impressed the size of the first one and make their choice based on that. it's not very fair. on the other hand, making something small when you like working big should be a lot less of a bother than making something big when you like working small, at least in the world of pixel art.

i need still frames... that's like 3 entries...
sorry i wasn't clear. no animations, i just want frames, the animation will be the final result. so no animated entries.


it's so fast i can't really recognize any of those guys (i do now, but i still think they're not really recognizable...), and there's a lot of blank space, maybe you can combine the frames to fill it? and what's the thing on the upper left?

but its no use defending it since animations arent allowed anyway.

Something I want to point out is that the CS background itself would make an awesome avitar.

erm... I tried? please don't scold me too bad. This is my first spriting project ever after all. Hell of a time to start, but It's never too early in my eyes.

woot frog. but i can't just accept it yet:

it needs color harmony, blue/green must be the colors to stand out the most.
hint: use blues on frog, exclude yellows, experiment with an unusual palette.

Noted. I'll try a little harder on frog and maybe change the background. I'm not very good with color especially when the piece is 50 pixels tall and wide lol.

Color is mainly based on the lighter colors in the banner of the forum.

Anyway, here ye are.

now one question about the haloween and avatar
can you use existing 1-4th gen Pokémon? or does it have to be scratch
i wouldnt use a straight sprite but like if i need an arm from an existing Pokémon to edit can i use it?
if not ill scratch but some questions just need to be asked

@ wetbell: sorry i missed your post. i strongly suggest your scratch it entirely. if you really want to have it like an official sprite's, you can always use it as reference without simply copy+paste-ing it.

Judging time...?

too little entries for a new topic (just like last time). you can do better than that guys.

anyway, the two unique Halloween entries (which are both cool sprites, cool ideas) win by default of course, and since it seems pointless to have a poll about two entries, will be awarded a shared unique medal. which one (gold, silver, bronze, cookie?), that is yet to be decided, so i welcome anyone to suggest what should be done in this kind of situation since it's quickly becoming the usual outcome of contests... anyway, here are, the two of them for you to admire (in order of submission):
