CS gets a new look, Introducing CSv3

Introducing CSv3, the new, updated and unified skin of CS. It includes:

Brand new sidebars and title bars.
Brand new tiled background.
Brand new button set, so far including all visible buttons, as well as forum markers. post and PM markers soon to follow.


Credits go to Silver for the gray and green bars (including sidebars, which i simply adapted to the vertical position).
Credits go to me for the background, the blue title bar edit, and the whole new button set.



We originally started working on it quite some time ago, but due to personal reasons Silver couldn't continue with it, so i finished it some weeks later and just less than a month ago i completed the button set to go with the skin.
A new banner is planned to come with updated sprites from the dex (possibly starters and/or legendaries) and a darker, more elegant green look. I will work on this later in august after my vacations (read further). i had this placeholder in place in the test board but it's definitely only a draft:

note that the font used in the new buttons will be used in the new links under the banners as well.

In other news, I'm taking a 10 day vacation between the 5th and 15th of august. Going to Berlin with some friends, have a nice summer trip out of here. So don't expect the updates (banner, missing icons, dex) too soon.



You're all welcome to show your appreciation (or depreciation, in a constructive way if possible). Man, please do post about how you like this or not, I expect some community reaction this time

Wow, I am liking this skin, the new CS is attractive. Like a pretty girl.
But none of you are posting anymore guys. So this pretty girl has no personality.
Give CS some personality and a name.

This is a challenge for all of you.
Come up with an idea, any idea. Explain how you'd run it to us, and then we'll vote on who had the best idea. The top three will recieve trophies, while the winner will have their idea implemented into the site.
There is no deadline as of yet, and you may submit more than one idea each. You may work in groups. And your idea may be seen in a more positive fashion if you include diagrams, good writing and pictures of CS girl with personality.

yeah buttons are a huge improvement since i've learned a lot about both pixel art and graphics since i made the old ones.

as for new ideas do you mean like new forums or something?
cos as far as that goes, i think we pretty much covered all of that with time.
but i mean, what we're really lacking is a friendliness towards new people, which may bring more skilled as well as aspiring pixel-artists to the board, as well as give us a new reputation.
and to tell you the truth, in my opinion, the first step towards that is to remove Pokémon aspects from the banner.
that's the first thing i look at when i enter a forum for the first time, and i feel like it might turn a lot of people down.
with that said, i do believe we are too Pokémon-based.
we dont have to throw the years of work we've put on the dex away. but i think it's be nice if we had some different board-wide projects, like, but not specific to, pj's the joint..

i think someone had an idea a long time ago about a banner that depicted the staff. i don't know, maybe i just liked the idea because i'm conceited.

as for the theme aspect of your posts, i've considered many times excluding Pokémon from our visual presentation, but we've got to show CS as it is, and it's our main field of action.
i find that displaying Pokémon sprites in the banner both shows our interest for Pokémon and pixel art, and if done properly, it does not imply a sort of obsessive close minded kind of... thing.

of course, if Pokémon-less looks better, why not
