C SPRITING OFFICIAL RULES

There are always exceptions for these rules. Under certain circumstances, different warnings / banning will occur.
It is at the Administrator and Moderator's discretion how we warn and ban users. Arguing with a decision without concrete arguments will cause a further increase in ban or warn.

2. No insulting other users with name-calling, etc. [i.e. "n00b"]
3. Do not flame other users - Not even in the spamming section.
4. Do not swear, cuss, or in any way use offensive language.
5. Xenophobic, racial, political, religious or any other kind of discrimination will not be allowed.
6. Do not insult other forums/websites, including SPPF.

13. Do not double post in a short period of time (less than 3 hours).
14. Do not mini-mod, use the report button or contact a staff member via PM.
15. Grammar and spelling are your friends. Use them wisely. Watch the typos: some are okay, but don't make it a habit.
16. Do not post offensive or pornographic images.
17. Do not beg for money credits, earn them the right way (posting or making requests).

First Time Offence of Rules: Verbal Warning (either PM or as a reply).
Second Time Offence of Rules: 20% Warn Increase.
Third Time Offence of Rules: 40% Warn Increase. [Total 60%]
Continuous Offence of Rules: Temporal banning (the duration will vary according to the offence of rules, minimal duration being a week).

Projects Forum Rules:

This section is meant for spriting projects. If you want to make a project, please make sure it meets these rules:

- First of all, you need a project idea, and therefore a title that must be the topic’s name, followed by [PUBLIC] if anyone can participate in it, [PERSONAL] if you’re going to make it alone, or [COOPERATIVE] if multiple participants (team) are participating in it.
- You need to plan how you are going to make it into a project. Be sure it’s something worth making a project, something you won’t just forget about later. Therefore, projects will likely have a certain objective, like making a game, or a certain sprite sheet that could eventually be used in multiple ways.
- If your project is [PUBLIC], don’t forget to set up certain submission rules. For example, if you’re making a compilation of sprites make sure all them are made in certain style respecting certain rules.
When making a project topic, follow this example:
QUOTE
Project name – [PERSONAL]/[PUBLIC]/[COOPERATIVE]

> Introduction (optional, but recommended)
> Project description - a more or less detailed description of the project, how you’re going to proceed, your objective, etc.
> Submission rules – if your project is public, set up a certain number of submission rules (i.e.: style rules, size/palette limit, etc.)
> Project content – updated as often as possible.
-- Link1 – game link/sprite sheet link/file link/etc.
-- Link2
-- Etc.
> Credits – every person collaborated in the project must and should be credited for his/her work, even if it’s just for formality.
> Etc.

Remember to update your project’s main topic as often as possible so people don’t have to read the whole discussion to find the important information and/or updates.

So feel free to start a project whenever you want, the staff will make sure it meets these rules and tell you if there’s a problem or anything else that would need to be done.

Notes:

Cooperative projects are allowed to start by hiring people, but you must have a certain criteria when doing this: you must know what you're looking for and you must not start hiring every random person who "wants to help". this means that you will end having a limited number of members in the project.

Personal and cooperative Fakedexes will be allowed and supported, but public Fakedex projects won’t likely be accepted, reasons being:[/SIZE]
QUOTE (castiboy @ Feb 11 2007, 08:07 PM)
to put it simple, I’ll explain it this way:
not every fake is accepted in the CS dex, but many people would like their fakes to be in it.
eventually, there would be a dex that accepts even the worst fakes ever, that can't be prevented if all public dexes are allowed.
if there are dexes that accept even the worst fakes, that will make people think that maybe they should simply submit their fakes to those dexes - and that isn't a problem for me anyway but...
if any fake can be submitted to any random dex, why should anyone bother in making good quality fakemon for the CS dex? or just good quality ones in general.
so that would end setting a low standard quality required for fakes to be considered remarkably good, and that would reduce the chances of people aiming to get their sprites a place in the CS Fakedex. also, the Fakedex would simply loose what makes it special if there were other fakes with the same standards allowed.

therefore, public dexes in which everyone can participate aren't the best thing to do IMO, but of course as i can't - nor i want to - prevent anyone from making Fakedex, i simply ask anyone willing to do so, to please host their dex somewhere else, and of course, you are free to link it in the RPGs or site's advertising sections, and of course you're free to display the concerned fakemon at CS if you want to.

see, those are my reasons. public projects most of the time have low standards of quality unless they're directly linked to something larger than just collecting sprites, and i don't think that' good for anyone.

Spriting Challenges Rules:

We have a whole system installed in this section so you won't always be needing the help of a moderator:

>>CHALLENGING TOPIC:
-If you want to challenge someone, just say it on the challenging topic, or ask for a challenge with anyone who accepts it.
-Don't take challenges that you won't do, it's a waste of time for everyone.
-when you accept a challenge, say so to let your opponent and the other members know, and proceed to the CHALLENGE LIST topic.

>>CHALLENGES LIST topic:
- after accepting a challenge, post here filling this form:
QUOTE
-- person 1
-- person 2
-- type of challenge(detailed if needed)

-anyone can now create this challenge's topic, just quote the filled form saying that you're making it, and proceed in the making of a Challenge Topic.

>>Challenge Topics:
- The name of both participants must be in the title. The type of challenge can be included in it or in the subtitle.
- When making a topic, think carefully on what it is going to be: make sure it’s something interesting and makable (i.e.: a voltorb/ho-oh mix would not likely be appreciated and could end in a forfeit from one or both the participants).
- Rather than waiting five days to tell people that you forfeit, say it out front so that it can be closed.
- Changing the challenge will not be allowed; once the challenge topic has been made, no one will change it. This is to prevent people who worked on and finished their sprite to find out that the challenge was changed and they only lost their time with it.
-This additionally means not asking to change the challenge; if there is a problem, the mods will deal with it.
-Do not turn challenge topics into discussions, there's no need for you to give your opinion on what the challenge will be like, you may compliment sprites, but please try not to spam the topic with posts like: "wow, this will be a toughie". That can be considered as SPAM, and it's just gonna hike up your post count for stupid reasons.
-Additionally, don't ever state who you're going to vote for, as it is unfair, and is just fuel to start a flaming war. You may compliment sprites, but don't say who you are going to vote for.

/!\ ABOUT POLLS: When making polls, make sure to choose the single choice option (1), ALWAYS IN THIS SECTION.

RPG Rules:

- Start by creating your RPG topics at the RPG Sign-Ups sub forum.
- Make sure you follow these simple suggestions when making an RPG:
>> Plots should be long and detailed.
>> Make sure you are ready to start an RPG when you begin. There is nothing worse than someone starting an RPG and then not getting anywhere with it.
- When signing up for an RP, make sure you follow these guideline:
>> Make sure you post detailed descriptions, personalities and histories. Everyone is bored of the old "My parents died at the age of 3" etc so try to be different.
>> Don't write in chat writing, it's difficult to read and is tedious. Also, writing in the third person is always recommended but this is really up to the RP Master (the owner of the RPG).
- Only post threads in the main RPG section when you have people signed up for your RPG.
- Once you have posted an RPG, you might want to create a discussion topic in theRPG Café so people don't clog up your RPG with Out Of Characters (OOC) discussions.
- No flaming of other people’s ideas, everyone is entitled to their own opinions.
- Don't go too far off topic with general discussion in the RPG Café, there are different forums for that.
- You may post ideas on future RPGs in the RPG Café but it's best just to go ahead with it and post it in the RPG Sign-Ups.
- If you planning to advertise in the main RPG Section, DON'T! There's a forum for that now: RPG Advertisement

Any RPGs that don't comply with these rules will be warned once. If nothing is done, the RPG will be closed without further warning. Tough but fair.

RPG Fan Art Rules:
- General Rules are applied here as everywhere else.
- Only post sprites/art of RPGs currently active. Do not post art of RPGs to be made or have been inactive for over a month.
- Do not make an art thread for a RPG unless you are the owner, or have his permission.
- Do not use art as a way of getting around describing yourself in a sign up. These will not be accepted by all good RP Masters.

Shoutbox Rules:

- If your messages are not showing up, just keep trying. We have had this problem due to cookies before and the shoutbox moves on after a while.
- Do not flame other users in the Shoutbox. There are ways for us to determined who you are, so please don't do it or you’ll be permanently banned from using it.
- Anyone who visits the forums can view and post in the shoutbox so be as welcoming as you can to anyone, just like you would with a new member.
- If you cannot post in the Shoutbox but would like to say something really important or report an error, post in The Shoutbox topic in the Announcements & Feedback forum.
- Impersonating other members and giving them a bad reputation can be found out and people will be banned for this.
- Blatant flaming of the site is not allowed and banning will be implemented if it happens and/or continues.
- Any breaking of the general CS rules won't be allowed.
