Title: :/
Sharkeh - March 22, 2009 03:49 AM (GMT)
I wanna make a game. srsly.
or at least help out with it.
I'd love to make the graphics for a game. since the creativity department is really lacking on my side.
I know I can
but i dunno like where to pitch it?
since I don't really have a sense of how things work in that aspect.
so i'm doing it here. I could do the art while someone writes some sort of plot?
and like a programmer, obviously.
I'm thinking platformer with a twist. but that can be arranged.
and yes, I would take responsibility for ALL the art. [backgrounds, animations...] which will most likely be pixel art.
pls?
I know this will sort of be a long-term project, but i'm all up for it if it means trying new things.

I've been doing some concept work for either a battling game like Brawl or a beat up up side scroller. :D
Sharkeh - March 22, 2009 03:51 AM (GMT)
fuck that was quick.
Lets do it.
programmer pls. not that we'll find any here :P

I've always been up for working on an RPG or Pokémon game with a twist, but I've never been able to find a programmer who doesn't hate my ideas =/
Sharkeh - March 23, 2009 12:04 AM (GMT)
the thing is that I want original creativeness. Pokémon games/hacks/whatever can be interesting, but it always ends up being about the monsters. I'm just as much interested in an amazing story and character development as I am to super violence/gore and amazing gameplay.
Medical Meccanica - March 23, 2009 12:16 AM (GMT)
That's why I said 'with a twist'. I'm a writer, of course I'd put a shitload of character development into my game. Pokémon is no exception to this rule, Nintendo just fails at changing up the story.
If you want originality I'd be willing to go for an RPG or a crazy freeform/ambient game like Yume Nikki.
Sharkeh - March 23, 2009 12:51 AM (GMT)
Yume nikki scared the living snot out of me. RPGs are so complicated, and I hate working with tiles. I figure it's easier to start out with something simpler instead.
and that would mean still sprites and boring HUDs and tons and tons of menus. and tiles.
what I'm trying to say is that an RPG wouldn't be the artistic experience I'm looking for? i think that's what I'm trying to say.

Did you see Neo's Frogatto sidescroller? It's something he is working on currently, and might be something you want to look at;

Of course I've seen it :D
that was one of my inspirations! plus his comic.
some other inspirations were braid [gameplay and insanely cleverly written story that just made me wanna find out what happened, but couldn't cos there was no answer, which is surprisingly satisfactory to me. plus the amazing art in EVERYTHING] and the Behemoth's game #3 [always been a fan of dan paladin. can't get enough of his stuff. and game #3 looks so original and innovative it makes me wanna do it too.
okay, maybe I'm a bit biased..]

blah platformers suck. =/
whatever if you don't want me to work with you then I won't.

ya can count me in for programming!
is what i would say if i knew how to program games. i guess i could get my lazy ass to read some stuff on how to do basic cell phone stuff in java since i already know my ways with it (when it comes to treatment of alphanumerical data and byte streams and the such... they really should teach you how to make games in computer science...).
OH WELL. ya know a while back that game got linked on PJ or something, legend of princess, now that was artistically awesome and it was easy in how it didn't require a complete reinvention of an awesome concept, just a really characteristic representation of it. it was just packed with action and awesome pixel graphics. i guess you go for something short, simple, and damn powerful. leave RPGs for pros with a LOT of time and good with tiles ._.
PS: don't get me wrong, i like RPGs, i just think they must be as time consuming to make as they are to play :(

D:
don't take it that way!
I didn't mean it :x
but it's exactly like casti said. I wouldn't be willing to spend my time on an RPG :/
casti, that's exactly what I want. except maybe the short part. not short, but not too complex either.
and maybe once we get a story from someone, you'll change your mind?
;D
Medical Meccanica - March 24, 2009 01:09 AM (GMT)
I could come up with a story. My friend actually had an idea for a Yume Nikki-esque platformer (don't get me wrong, it wasn't scary. It was about a boy who was in a coma whose mind was slowly deteriorating and all his fears came out in the enemies he faces, and finally everything just gets really screwed up and he wakes up and dies). I'd love to work on story for something like that, I don't think I have the spriting skills though.
Sharkeh - March 24, 2009 01:36 AM (GMT)
that's pretty cool, actually.
I always found stuff like that interesting.
BlueGhosty - March 27, 2009 07:24 PM (GMT)
I have some amazing ideas for gameplay and bosses, but I can't really put them to any effect without a programmer. I don't know a lick of programming code.
