Title: Honey Covered Thorns
Characters: Sezru, Kihreyn
Rating: PG-13
Warnings: Violence
Summary: Sezru is a little bastard. Kihreyn follows him anyway.
Comments: Christ, Dib is making me post this here now that, apparently, everyone knows that I play Sezru (as if it wasn't obvious in in the first place). XD Well, okay then! XD Kinda AU verse, kinda... well, whatever. You'll see. The writing is... meh. I only give it a 5/10 or something like that, though I do think it gets better towards the end. This fic is 1796 words.

Sezru, when interested, could do just about anything. Beneath his almost fragile exterior, large soft green eyes, and delicate bone structure was a sharpness and strength hard to match, let alone surpass. He got his way easily, could be colder than ice and more affectionate than a kitten. It had nothing to do with being the leader of a cult and everything to do with how he became one.

He was always strangely affectionate with the members though, which was why he was drowsing by Kihreyn's side, head tucked into the other faerie's arm--completely ignoring the long suffering sigh above him. Instead, he shifted and wedged his head against Kihreyn more firmly, humming softly in the back of his throat.

"Oh great and powerful leader..."

Sezru ignored the faint tones of sarcasm and thrummed out a questioning noise, eyelids fluttering shut. It was a warm day, might have been too hot if it wasn't for the breeze that playfully jumped across Alanor. One hand clutched at Kihreyn's sleeve, his index finger lightly stroking at the material.

"Must you use me for a pillow?"

With that question, he finally raised his head, eyes narrowing accusingly. "You wouldn't let me ride you." His grip on Kihreyn's sleeve tightened and he held himself stiffly, an almost regal appearance about him. His lips, usually gently curved, was flattened into a thin line.

To his credit, Kihreyn's face hardly shifted in expression. Instead, the other faerie expelled another sigh, waving his unoccupied arm around in an expansive--meaningless--gesture. "I am sure there are other creatures that you can... cajole into letting you ride them. It is hardly befitting of--" he cut himself off when it was obvious that Sezru wasn't listening to him.

What the other faerie was doing was tracing little circles into the ground with a finger, a faint smirk crossing his lips. Before proposing the idea he had thought that Kihreyn wouldn't allow him to get his way--sometimes the other faerie could be distressingly stubborn--but it never hurt to ask. However, there were ways to get around Kihreyn's wants, after all, Sezru needs were so much more pressing than anything the other faerie could come up with. And right now he wanted to go for a ride.

With a resolute nod to himself, he got up onto his feet, ignoring the faintly surprised look (did Kihreyn think that he was about to give up?) on the other faerie's face. He bent over, grabbed Kihreyn's hand, and tugged it.

"Get up."

A sigh was his response, but Kihreyn stood up without protest and Sezru affectionately patted his shoulder. He smiled up at Kihreyn's carefully bland look and dropped the hand, heading off through the bushes.

"Sezru?" He heard the question and beckoned Kihreyn to follow him, quickening his steps once he was sure that the other faerie wasn't just going to watch him go.

"Where are we going?"

Sezru hummed cheerfully, winding his way through the trees with careful steps. After all... Well, it'll be interesting, anyway. At least it was a lovely day, so the going was pleasant. At their current pace, they should arrive at the destination soon. He ignored Kihreyn's questions and finally they tapered off into silence; just the sound of their feet against the ground and Sezru's low hum accompanying them.

On occasion, Kihreyn made motions as if he was about to start a conversation, but stopped before he started. Sezru suspected it was because he was looking firmly away from the other faerie and pretending he was extremely interested in tree leaf patterns.

Less than thirty minutes had passed and Sezru suddenly tripped over an upraised tree root, pitching forward over a bush and into a small clearing. He landed with a quiet yelp next to a large boulder--then quietly thanked their bloodthirsty god that he didn't smack his head against it. Of course, that thanks trailed off when he found himself surrounded by some beast-things that didn't look too happy to find someone stumbling into their territory.

Sezru blinked once and waited.

"You really shouldn't..." Kihreyn trailed off when he saw Sezru's current predicament.

Well, what a nice situation they were in. Sezru gave him a half wave, carefully got to his feet, and edged his way around the boulder. Once there, he crouched behind it and curled his fingers against something familiar, a faint half-smile forming.

The beast-things (they looked a bit like wolves, only bigger and with spike things running along their back and Sezru was more than a little impressed with the size of their teeth) snarled at Sezru and looked as if they were about to leap onto him and rend him into pieces. In reply--he couldn't outrun them--he brandished a dagger and wondered if he should have brought his sword (or glaive, mace, spear) instead.

"Sezru." Kihreyn's voice was quiet, and taut with strain. "Come over here."

He was only a couple of meters away from where Kihreyn was standing completely still, one hand sweeping away the branches that would otherwise get in his way. He smiled at the expression on Kihreyn's face, watched as the dark red eyes went black with what had to be worry. About to reply, he swallowed what words he had to say when the creatures took advantage of that moment of distraction. One member of the group suddenly lunged over the boulder for his throat, teeth gleaming in the midday sun.

Sezru flung himself to the side--further away from Kihreyn--and thrust his dagger into the attacking creature's side, frowning as the blade sunk in but stopped at a rib. Then he had to abandon the blade when another wolf/beast/thing launched itself at him. Not quite fast enough to dodge completely, he prepared himself for the pain that would rip through his side even as he smoothly dodged right, already thinking of an offensive position to retaliate from.

Except instead of the pain he half-expected, a large hoof suddenly filled his vision. One that slammed into the side of the creature and flung it high into the air, the body abruptly slamming into a tree.

Sezru took one second to take in Kihreyn, eyes admiring the powerful body and proudly arched neck of the horse-like form instead of the usual lanky human-ish one the faerie was in most often. Then he raised a hand and grabbed at the mane, pulling himself up onto the back as the Kihreyn bared razor sharp teeth in reply to the other creature's threats.

Kihreyn in his other form was a force to be reckoned with; a huge dark creature with a build similar to a draft horse, whose eyes shifted from dark red to black and sharp teeth you would expect to find on a carnivore--for he often ate humans and other faeries. His muscles shifted restlessly under Sezru and Sezru kept one hand firmly grasping the mane, the other clutching onto the little thing he picked up from behind the rock.

Sensing the shift in battle, the other creatures seemed to grow more cautious even as they growled and made aborted rushes towards Kihreyn. One fool creature actually shot off a large rock and went for Kihreyn's side, only to have Kihreyn wheel around on what had to be a single hoof and stomp his great feet. The hooves glanced off the creature hard enough for it to cry out sharply and make frantic movements to get away--one leg broken beneath it.

Only Kihreyn didn't let it get away, and Sezru watched with fascinated eyes as the large equine head whipped downwards and sharp teeth pierced into the back of the creature's neck. Kihreyn lifted it into the air and gave it a fierce shake, the sound of the spine snapping and bones being ground filling the air. Sezru didn't realize that his breath was held, that a delighted smile was spreading across his face, and a slightly dreamy expression crossed his eyes.

It was savage and beautiful and he could have watched Kihreyn kill things all day, until the ground was soaked in blood to the point that the crimson stain wouldn't go away for weeks. He shivered, disappointed when the pack found Kihreyn too much to handle and so retreated, leaving their dead for scavengers to pick at. He wasn't even breathing hard, but Kihreyn's body quivered beneath him, still watchful, still filled with battle tension, head raised high and ears straining.

A few quiet minutes passed and Sezru could feel the other faerie relax, saw the large head drop and turn left in his direction. He ignored the light lash of the tail against his back--Kihreyn's signal that he could climb off now--and instead scooted further forward on the broad back, leaned over and reached out with his hands. The tips of his fingers stroked the blood-stained muzzle, Sezru smiling at the slick feeling beneath them.

"Now stay still," he murmured as he saw Kihreyn fully relax, large ears now angled in his direction.

Then he brought out the halter he had hidden behind the large boulder and had picked up when he had first crouched behind it. Sezru's smile broadened as recognition flickered through Kihreyn's dark red eyes and the faerie gave a soft snort in surprise, making moves to jerk his head away.

Sezru let his body weight fall completely against the neck, let his head fall forward and his cheek rub against Kihreyn's soft neck. With the halter still in his hand, he encircled Kihreyn's neck with his arms loosely.

"Kihreyn," he thrummed out sweetly, "I told you that I wanted to ride you." His fingers lightly stroked at the soft coat beneath them.

Sezru was aware that the other faerie could throw him down, could dash in his skull with one precise hoof. Kihreyn wouldn't, of course, but he could if he wanted to. He could also change back into his other form right now and probably stomp away angrily (after he tipped Sezru off of his back, of course).

Instead, he stood completely still as Sezru put on the halter that wouldn't allow him to change his form back until it was taken off again. Sezru's hand lingered affectionately on the side of the blood splattered muzzle and he gave it a chaste kiss, lips tinged a bright red.

Settled comfortably on Kihreyn's back, he licked at the blood and smiled to himself.
