This is a world of mysteries. A world of challenges. A world that is different.
In true cinematic fashion, we start with the world, before the camera zooms in on the central continent Bella, central only because humans have decided it is.
It zooms in further, on a piece of land that can be described as flowing. It consists of a lot of farmland and wilderness, with here and there a small city. What it zooms in on, however, is not a small city, it is Berchon, capital of Pallatus.
It is in this city, that a special gate can be found, a gate leading to a place which is truly unique in it's purpose: To raise those students found worthy of studying there into wizards. This is the place where all wizards meet, sooner or later.
The date is the 10th of Primuary in the year 1321, and it is still cold in the streets. The time is 10 o clock, and those that can afford to are still in bed.
However, in front of the gates are gathered a large group of young would-be students, eager to start their studies into wizardry. For them, their life is just beginning to take shape.

Bodily Description:
Guen's an interesting looking young lady, her mid-blue hair is very long, reaching her hips. It's in seven ponytails, all seven being tied at neck-level. Two of them drape in front of her shoulders, the other five behind her head. The two in front are braided together at mid-chest level, ending at the bottom of her ribs. The other five get longer as they go to the middle of her back.
Her narrow green eyes seem stern quite often, a cold stare being piercing. But there's a shine of delight in their spring shine.
Her mouth is small and her lips are thin, but any movement they make is noticeable, letting you know when she's happy or sad quite easily.
Guen is a young lady with some nice curves for her age, mostly at her waistline. suggesting she takes good care of herself. But she's also more solidly built, not a dainty sort. She's a little on the short side for now, but that may change when she's older.

Full Name: Jack Jefferson Hawthorne

Age: 15
Bodily Description:
Jack's a young guy, but he's very tall and thin. He looks like a runner or a dancer, both of which he does quite well. Jack's deep blue eyes show his emotions like a mirror and his face holds a youthful and hopeful shine. Odd thing is, he doesn't have any hair. He's quick and nimble, nearly having a dance to his walk. It's obvious in his eyes that even when things go wrong that's his fault he never means any bad intention.

Full name: Geziah Bastogh. (Nickname "Gezz")
Country of origin: Bondual (Bella.)
Age: 13.
Physical description:
For a 13 year old, Gezz appeared to be quite the lazy guy. He has his rather big hands in his pants pockets as much as possible, and his shoulders slighty down forward. This gives people the false impression of him not being tall. With his 1.75 in metres or roughly 5"8 if I recall correctly, he is in fact quite tall. The long curly pitchdark black hair, which goes to just above his eyes yet over his ears, makes his bright blue eyes seem even brighter. Those same eyes don't share much emotion, but they do send an air of challenge to anyone that looks straight into them. Gezz can often be found daydreaming emotionless, or smiling about something random. His flappy ears are as good as hidden by the hair, but at times they're noticable.
Being as slim as he is, with his 'lazy' attitude and posture, people make mistakes about him when it's about running. He trained running in the hills of Bondual, and many other random outdoor activities, such as tree climbing. His legs are unusually muscled due to that.

(Maarten, just a warning, while it's not impossible, it's kind of rare for a 17 year old to start wizarding. Most students are 10-15. So perhaps you want to make him: A. a higher year student, or B. Younger. Most stories'll focus on the first-years, or whatever year they'll be.)

The young students were anxiously talking to eachother.

"Hello," a blonde kid, dressed at his finest and his hair neatly combed, conversed to another kid, by ways of getting to know eachother.
"!Ola", the kid replied.
"Erm, I am Stephen, you?" the blonde kid asked
"?Que" the kid asked.
"Never mind." Stephen said. He was aware that not all people spoke his language, but this was his first time meeting someone he couldn't understand. Having come from Lence, he was doing all he can to even understand a bit of the Pallatin language.

Stephen had finished gazing at the gate a couple of minutes ago. He walked around a bit now. There was a group of people which Stephen guessed were from Pallatius itself, as they showed no signs of estrangement and were chatting happily.

There were about five wizards standing and keeping watch, but at least one of them was snoring. The gate wouldn't open yet for a few more minutes.

One of the students is looking a bit nervous. She strokes her hair by her right shoulder. No other women in sight. In her mind, she shrinks back, not finding someone to converse with - meaning she's not searching for one. But in her mind she wishes someone would come forward.

In another section, a very tall and thin young man stands, looking rather nervous.

"Oi... I do hope this goes okay. This isn't what I wanted, but I don't want to endanger myself," he worries to himself.

"<Excuse me, are you lost?>" asked a student to the woman. He was speaking Pallatin though.

[Riddler]

"Hello there." An almost as tall guy stepped forward to the tall, thin young man, smiling friendly. "Are you new here aswell? You seem rather old, yet sometwhat nervous."

"Uh-?" Guen gasps, looking over. She tilts her head with a small hum, "Mmm...?" Seems she's having a little trouble translating. She says in her native tongue, that of Istal, "Are you... talking to me, sir?"


"Old...?" Jack rubs his bald head. "How you mean... old? Oh, if you think I'm older because of my height, I'm just tall for my age. But yes! I'm new and yes indeed nervous... But you seem okay. Are you confident?"

The guy paused. He closed his eyes for a bit, and raised his two fingers to his throat. It seemed he was casting a spell. After the small ritual, he opened his mouth to speak.
Just before uttering a syllable, he went into a coughing fit, wheezing a lot. He eventually regained composure, and flicked at his throat.
"I apologise." he said, "Erm..." he stalled, and resorted to a common tactic when talking to a foreigner, talking loudly and pausing after each word. "I! Asked! If! You! Were! Lost!" he exclaimed, making vague signs with his hands that could mean anything.

[Riddler]

"Well, in a way, I guess I am confident. I'm Geziah, you?" said Geziah. "And the reason why I think you're older is just comparing faces to the others. Most seem to be 12, or somewhere near, while you appear to be around 14."

Guen jumps once at seeing Stephen cough like that, hoping he's okay, but once recomposed, she's more at ease. She seems to be familiar with some of the patterns of speech. She just shakes her head, whether answering or dismissing, it's unclear. She gives a small calm smile, placing the first two finger to her collarbone and saying, "Guenevere." Then she extends her hand to him, as if wanting him to rely to that.


"15, actually. I guess for a first student I'm old," Jack laughs. "Name's Jack. Jack Hawthorne, to be more precise. It is an honor to meet a new student like myself."

Jack extends his long-fingered thin hand, being a little on the bony side.

[Riddler]

"There's me thinking I would be an older one with my 13." Geziah says while shaking hands with Jack. "An honor it is indeed. Mind if I ask why you've decided to go study wizardry?"

[GameNerd]

The other guy is taken by surprise. He looked older than most students, and was already wearing wizarding robes, but no hat. His hair was as red as fire, and the guy had combed it, or at least tried.
While he looked significantly older than most students, he also looked significantly younger than the other wizards.
"I am Renee." decided the guy, not shouting, but still stressing each word. He slowly and unsurely extends his hand, too, slowly shaking. "What are you doing here?" he tried.

"Oh, eh heh... well... it's um... not exactly my decision. You see, I was more or less drafted here," he explains, seeming more anxious than ever. "It's... well, how can I put this... not my idea. I wanted to be an entertainer, but a wizard saw my potential and... well, here I am trying not to tick him off."



Seeing the young man's confusion, Guen tries mimicking him and stressing her words, making hand gestures to try and assist. "I come here to learn like the others." It looks like she hadn't counted on her hand being shaken though, but she took it as a friendly gesture.

The man tried out the words. This time, he tried another language, an old one, too. "<Can you understand Urlatin?>" he tried.

Finding more common ground with this one, she gives nod, but a little hand twitch to say she kinda understands it, but it's better than before.

[GameNerd]

"<Where are you from?>" asked Rene. At least the where was recognisable enough.

[Riddler]

"Well, I guess that works. Hope it'll work out for you then. I'm going to walk around some more, feel free to walk along. If not, i'll probably see you inside." At that, Geziah started walking, slow enough to give Jack a chance to follow.

[Ryuu Atrineas]

Guen puts her fingers on her collarbone again and says, "Istal." Then she extends her hand again for a reply.


"Wait a minute, you're just going to leave me now?" Jack asks, striding over quite quickly by his long legs. "But this is where solid friendships start. Right outside the gates to a new level of living! Do you not wish to embrace that chance?"

"Oltavia." he said, this time, not shaking the hand, but the thought crossed his mind. "What are you doing here?" he tried, pointing at her, the university and shrugging. "I still don't understand," he added.

[Riddler]

"Yes I do, that's why I was planning on getting to know a few more people here. If you'd prefer to talk here, that's fine though." Geziah says.
Quite amazed by Jacks speed, Geziah stopped moving. "Have you heard something more about specialising in certain types of magic yet? Cause I heard they have that kind of option, but they're only rumors.."

Guen smirks and spreads her arms. "All these students..." she touches her collarbone again, "I am one..." She points to the university, "And I will go there..." then spreads her hands out again, "with the rest of them."


"Personally, I hadn't the foggiest idea. I still don't even know why that Wizard said I had potential to learn magic in the first place," Jack admits. "Sometimes I wish Budd was around to see me off. He and I had such great plans together until this. But I know he'd have been happy to watch me enter the gates. Poor soul is ill in bed today, though."

Rene seemed puzzled by it. "<Student...>" he repeated. "<How do you mean? You can't be a student>"
He was no longer stressing each word with the last sentence, but speaking fluently. The negative tense was still noticable, though. Rene himself had a nervous smile on his face.
