Thanks for the welcomes-back, dudes, but I have some good news and bad news.

Good news is that my computer is running again. The bad news is that the absolute moron (and that's the nicest term I've used for the dude so far) Dell sent out to fix it seems to have messed up something while fixing the previous problem so someone is going to have to come back out /again./

Basically, if the bottom of the thing is touched even slightly the thing does the computer equivalent of committing suicide, except it restarts right after it dies.

I'm on the verge of either selling the piece of garbage or chucking it out the window, shoving whatever survives that full of left-over fireworks from the 4th of July and then beating whatever survives /that/ into oblivion with a sledgehammer, and all that's been going through my mind apart from strings of profanities that would make sailors squirm is a Whose Line is it Anyway? quote that goes roughly along the lines of "somebody's going to the electric chair! Gonna fry, gonna fry!"

So yeah, this is getting a bit frustrating.
