If anyone has ever encountered an error message like "Whitespace not allowed at this location" in an xml file (particularly the lang file), it is probably because of an odd character such as "&" somewhere in your text.

I just learned this after wrestling with a lang file for about 15 minutes before I figured out that I had copied a line of text from a website which contained an "&".

I'm sure there are other cases where a message like this will come up, but if you ever encounter this message in a lang file, check for odd characters! smile.gif

If anybody knows anything else about this subject (I'm no pro at XML, that's for sure!), feel free to add to this knowledge!

I found examples of “curly double quotes”, and ‘curly single quotes’ mashing up XML - examples were invariably in plagiarised xxx_strings entries. MS Word uses these banjaxed characters (and more) and has a history of messing with XML & HTML. Stick to "straight double quotes and 'single quotes'.
