Who's Next? As a certain legendary band once asked. We seek to delve into the music industry and come up with a bountiful collection of stars to be. Or is that just wannabes?

This week it's the turn of six young starlets hoping to make the big time with their angelic voices, one of whom shared his 11-year-old thoughts with InTheNews.

Think Simon Cowell and you immediately think of pop wannabes and cheesy Saturday night competitions. But pop may not be the sole spark that lights Simon's musical fire, as was proved by his opera group Il Divo. And now he has branched out yet again into this genre, but rather than the suave, dashing men of Il Divo, this time he is looking to a rather younger generation.

Angelis is formed of six 11- to 14-year-olds who were picked by choral experts in a two-year nationwide search. A brief look at their accomplishments is terrifying and leaves you in no doubt that these are indeed some of the UK's finest voices. Appearances at the Royal Albert Hall, in musicals and in national orchestras are all commonplace for this lot.

If Cowell's predictions are true, then the kind of music recorded on their first album is going to be a huge hit with people looking for something distinct and fresh in the myriad of identikit pop bands dominating the music scene. This could be true, but their style is likely to appeal to a smaller section of people who are fans of the Russell Watson school of music rather than achieving mass, chart-topping popularity.

Their self-titled debut album includes a mix of modern and classical songs; with covers of Sarah McClachlan's beautiful song Angel, Eva Cassidy's Over the Rainbow and Enya's May It Be alongside classics such as Pie Jesu and O, Holy Night. Their voices are beautiful both on their own and singing in harmony.

A quick chat with the charming Moray West, one of the youngest members of the band at the age of just 11, reveals how exciting the whole experience has been for the selected six. Facing the cameras of Newsround seems to be just as terrifying as performing as a soloist with the Scottish Opera Orchestra however, as Moray admitted: "It's exciting but it's really nerve-wracking at the same time." The six are said to all be "best friends" and "get on really well".

And Cowell's Saturday night mean-guy persona may be just an act, as Moray confides: "He's really nice, he's not like he is on TV at all." As well as working with Cowell, the six have had the privilege of working with the producer Steve Mac, who has worked with the likes of Westlife, Il Divo, Mariah Carey and Kelly Clarkson. Moray is full of praise for Mac, describing his no-nonsense work attitude and friendly persona.

The future of the group depends on the success of their debut album, and the direction the band goes in may diverge, as Moray admits some of the boys are more interested in rock and rap than classical music and may not want to spend their lives in the classical charts.

But one thing is for certain: Cowell is determined they do not become corrupted by the industry and, rather harshly given her recent career turnaround, is adamant they do not turn out like Charlotte Church. Speaking on Classic FM, Cowell ranted: "What I don't want is six Charlotte Churches. I don't want them on chat shows swearing at the age of 20 in a few years' time. I can't bear all that. In fact, I'm almost thinking about sending them each a poster of Charlotte Church with a big cross on it - 'don't go there'." Kids, you have been warned.

The Angelis album is released on November 6th.
