Well, I started my day finishing off a two-day trip up to the X-Mansion from Eagle Plaza in Dallas, Texas. And if you’re looking for pearls of wisdom from an old man I’ve got one for you: Sleeping in the driver’s seat of a cargo van is not, repeat NOT, a comfortable thing to do.

So around 4 in the afternoon I knocked on Xavier’s front door and surprised everyone with my Unexpected Arrival. Though to be honest it was Remy who surprised me with a couple of hugs. And then there was Sage, who convinced me that hanging out with the guys at Harry’s was actually a better idea than I originally thought. Also, I met the X-Men’s newest addition, a kitten named Bast.

After surviving my encounter with Sage and Remy I made my way down to my lab to check on things. I was happy for a moment to gather myself after my entrance, but soon Jubilee dropped by with food to Beard the Inventor in His Cave.

Jubilee and I had a nice, long talk. She got me caught up to speed on a bunch of things I had missed in my absence. The one that grabbed my attention the most, even more than learning Kurt and Remy had a make-out session, was that Hank had been turned by a Skin-walker.

As soon as Jubilee left I went to check on the Once Bitten, Twice Shy blue doctor. Seeing my old friend made me feel a bit more at ease, especially knowing he'd survived werewolfdom with no ill effects...well, outside of eating Logan's butt.

I finished with Hank and decided to make a run up to the kitchen and take care of the leftovers from the mountain of food Jubilee had brought me. It was in the kitchen I ran into the one, the only Jean Grey, and I have to say, it was really nice Seeing Red Again.

Following my catch-up session with Jean I retreated to my little hole in the subbasement to prepare for Harry’s, and on my way up to meet the rest of the team I met Callie Betto, a new student, and learned how much of an Unsung Hero I really was. She’s a sweet kid. Hopefully she enjoyed meeting Bast.

Then there was Guy's Night Out. It was pretty much all the male occupants of the House Xavier Built stuffed into a single bar. Yeah, nothing bad happened…

After Harry’s I finally got to end the day. It was time to knock off and dream of…Danielle Moonstar being attacked by werewolves? Perhaps I should avoid those pre-bedtime quesadillas from now on. [OOC: To be linked later.]

Monday started with the remnants of a dream echoing in my head, and I spent most of the morning trying to figure out what that dream meant, if anything. Unable to find any answers, I got to the work of Making. I figured maybe if I put some distance between myself and the problem things might become clearer.

I had almost put the finishing touches on Hank’s Anti-Cajun security system when Ms. Frost dropped by my lab. There was a bit of a misunderstanding between The Maker and the Queen, seeing as Sage took it upon herself to tell me Emma wanted a special order vibrator. I’m not sure why Sage hates me so much. Especially since I started working on the spider she requested for Bast.

The rest of the day was spent sneaking in the rest of the junk I brought with me from Eagle Plaza and starting on Bast’s spider.

July 8, 2008

Tuesday morning I organized some of my new junk and finished the spider.

Around lunchtime Callie caught me in the kitchen and got to taste some Seeds of the Southwest. Afterward I have her a tour of my Cave of Wonders.

During the tour she mentioned Sage flashed a gun at her, and, being old and jumpy, I got it in my mind to go set Sage straight. I tried to tell her Kittens and Guns Don't Mix, but…well, things didn’t quite come out like I planned. Hopefully Sage isn’t too mad.

July 9, 2008

Wednesday was a pretty low key day for me. I got a bit of Making done and even found time to go grab some groceries.

The morning started with a nice quiet run around the Xavier Estate. After my run I went back to my lab to grab some stuff for a Danger Room session, and Jubilee dropped by to ask me to make a lock for her new room. Evidently her Lockpicking days has her not trusting the new students.

With ideas of locks twisting in my brain, I set off to do some weight lifting before my DR session. When I got there I found Sage pounding a punching bag into submission. I was worried she might be mad from the other day, but she decided on Going Soft with an old man.

Once in the Danger Room I showed off An Old Dog's Old Tricks and proved I should not be handling any field work.

Back in my lab I got to creating Jubilee’s lock, despite the grumblings of my neglected stomach. I was scrounging for parts when Lorna Dane dropped by and playfully chastised me for ignoring Old Friends. Then she introduced me to our newest Spirit Talker, a girl named Wicked.

Later in the afternoon, I installed Hank’s Remy Deterrent Device, and Hank called the Cajun down for a Security Test. The system worked beautifully, if I do say so myself.

Like it or not, I’m a shaman, and being such, I’m no stranger to nightmares. Add to that the guilt I carry for what I did to my men, and I’ve had some rough dreams in my day. This morning’s dream, however, was more than I cared to see. It seemed to portend the death of the X-Men, with me left to shoulder the blame. There was nothing I wanted more than to forget it all, but as a talented author once wrote, A Thing, Once Dreamed, Can Never be Undreamed.

I didn’t waste any time getting dressed and out of my lab. I needed to clear my head and figured a run would be my best bet. But after that didn’t work, I decided to give in and try my hand at deciphering my dream with some out-of-practice shamaning. What I got was a vision more disturbing than my original dream.

It was Him. He shouldn’t have been there. Couldn’t have been there. But there He was. In my vision. Unbanished. The Adversary. Promising eternal pain and suffering for me, but only after I watched Him destroy all I held dear.

Unfortunately, one of the new students, Sooraya Qadir, happened upon me. The whispers of her soul woke me from my vision, and He didn’t seem to take kindly to the interruption. It seemed He left me a little token to remind of the agony to come because I noticed my spirit sense picking up on every little emotion while Sooraya and I discussed The Names of God.

When Sooraya and I parted ways, I headed to the mansion, intent on hiding away in my lab, but when I entered I ran into a Fey Spirit. Or at least a girl who looked like a fairy. It was Megan Guinn, another new student, whose physical mutation was weighing heavily upon her heart…and thus weighed heavily on my mind.

By the time I finished talking to Megan, I thought my head was going to split, but the Fates weren’t finished with me. Before I could duck into the elevator, I encountered Rogue. And her boiling rage was all but Out of Sight, Out of Mind.

At the end of Rogue’s discussion, it finally sank in that this could all just be a harbinger of the Adversary.

For the next couple of hours I hid in my lab, happy to be left alone, even if I was still picking up stray emotions here and there.

Eventually, when I was sure most everyone had left, I peeked out of my cave, hoping to sweat away my hypersensitivity in the gym. Instead I met Cessily Kincaid, who was lost in Spirit Dancing before she noticed me and her emotions went on a rollercoaster. In the end, there was no working out, just me scurrying back to the solitude of my lab.

Following my encounter with Cessily, I once again retired to my lab, only to be visited by Sage. She was wondering if I had finished her Bast-proof keyboard. Which is kind of odd now that I think about it, because Kittens Can't Type to begin with.

After Sage left I thought I might finally get the peace and quiet I had been longing for all day. I’ve never been so happy to be wrong. But then, Ororo Monroe does have that effect. During our visit, she said a lot of things I really needed to hear, whether I realized it at the time or not. Most importantly, she reminded me that I don’t have to try Weathering the Storm on my own.

However, in the true spirit of the day, the joy of Ororo’s visit proved short lived when the security system was mysteriously shut down, leaving us trapped in the basement until Jubilee showed up with her own brand of Sizzling Salvation.

For a few hours after that, I retired to my lab to…rest for a spell…before seeing to the freshly broken elevator. While surveying the damage, Wicked happened down caught in a fug of Spirit Angst over her meeting with a demon at a carnival.

Upon hearing that Wicked had run into a Soul Collector the same day the Adversary had promised to rain death and destruction upon my friends and me, I decided it was Easier to Run than wait around for Him to fulfill his promise. With much passion and rage, built up from her own terrible day, Jubilee talked me out of doing anything stupid.

Following my chat with Jubilee I snuck off to Devyl’s Cove to reflect upon the day. While there I met up with Alison Blair. Evidently we were both drawn by how The Spirit Moves across the ripples of a lake.

My night ended…or rather didn’t end, with me tinkering in my lab until I fell asleep sometime around 5:00 a.m. on my stool with my head and arms splayed across my work table. Contrary to popular belief, that’s not the best (or safest) of sleeping positions.

July 12, 2008

I started the day repairing the elevator. Evidently yesterday’s stress was just too much for it to take. While I was beginning to reconnect some wiring, Kevin found me and asked if he could borrow a soldering iron. Of course I said yes. A little while later, our resident fairy girl, Megan, dropped by and lend me a hand with the repairs before giving me a bad case of Inventive Overload that somehow ended up with me giving her a tour of the subbasement.

Following the tour, I made a quick phone call to Naze about the previous morning’s non-vision. He reassured me it was just a bad dream and told me that if I weren’t such a lazy, worthless student of the mystic arts, I’d have known that without calling him. He also strongly suggested I start practicing more.

Still trying to reattach my newly chewed off ass, I grabbed Kevin’s soldering iron and cooling until and dropped them by his shop before going to the library and picking up a little something to help me practice.

As I left the library, book in hand, I bumped into Callie, who’d prepared a picnic lunch and had high hopes to spend a little time Telling Tales to me. I was more than happy to oblige and even happier afterward because she really did an amazing job. I’m not sure if it’s a sad thing or not, but she tells my tales better than I do.

Next came the dreaded act of practicing. I found myself a quiet place in the garden, unsheathed my spirit blade and set to performing some Cheyenne energy exercises. Everything was going fine…well, maybe not fine, but I could have done worse…until I discovered Lorna was amusing herself by watching me prance around. Normally there’s nothing I hate more than Practice...Interrupted, but with Lorna I don’t so much mind. Though I could have lived without her forcing me to spill about my dream and the demon that ended up not being behind it.

After Lorna and I parted ways, I picked some stuff up from my lab and went to install Jubilee’s newly finished door lock. When I arrived I discovered how much of a mess Creed had left. I had to go find a completely new door and put it up before I could install the lock and leave a Note for Jubilee, thanking her for talking some sense into me yesterday.

With visions of desouling Creed dancing in my head, I decided it was finally time to face the Goddess and pray her mercy would outweigh her wrath as I came clean about what had set my spirit sense to overdrive.

I went back to my lab when Ororo was done with me, and while I was organizing, Sage invited herself in to discuss matters Of Kittens and Keyboards. She seemed pleased with the new keyboard and gave me some new projects to work on…one being a door lock she wants in 24 hours or less.

Sage left and I tinkered a bit with some upgrades I’ve been planning for the lab. I got so involved I was almost late for a Danger Room session with Hank, but when I arrived our session ended up a Crashed Party when the recently returned Sean Cassidy joined us.

Following our session, which I actually managed to survive in one piece, I got to working on Sage’s requested door lock. After a couple hours, I decided to answer a few questions that had been bothering me about Creed’s ease of entry into our home. As I entered the room I was shocked to find Remy Sleeping on the Job. Upon waking him, I found out the Red-eyed Coyote could play linebacker for the Dallas Cowboys if he wanted to. Still I preferred getting hit by him more that getting hugged by him.
