Poem #1 First Day Fear is etched across your face Something new starts today Longing just to be at home Mother says time to grow Down the street we walk Leaves falling from the trees Smiles on other kids As we all head to School So small I feel next to most of them This is my first time going Up the steps into the school Clutching my mothers hand With her by my side into class we go There I see toys, paints and all kinds of fun things The teacher is standing there Looking at all the kids all ready there Her face is ever so kind looking No warts or scars just cheery cheeks Her hair is tied up into a tight bun But you can see she is having fun Mother says time for me to go I turn to her with a sad little face Tears dropping from my eyes She says to me growing up time Standing tall I do as the teacher Walks to me to say Hello I greet her as I always do with a HI My name is “Hannah” With that the teacher smiles taking my hand Mother sneaks out but I don’t know Taking me to play with the others I meet my new best friend The day goes on as I learn more and more Friends I gain and enemies are made What a day to have there at the school Seeing as it is only the first day of many to come
Poem #2 School When summers done and it all ends school time comes rolling in Time for working classes with friends reading 'riting 'rithmatic Many months of lots of learning it all ends with happy cheering we get three months of summer fun then school starts once again
