Just outside the hall

[James]

Talking, walking, landing, taking off...

[A'dan]

Arunath and his rider appeared above the Hall, and A'dan shuddered a bit from the cold, something he hadn't quite, and wasn't sure he'd ever get used to.

-So, any potential candidates around?- he asked.

-Yes, actually. Those two.- Arunath replied calmly, as he glided down towards the ground, flapping his wings to slow his decent to land several dragon lengths from the two people that he'd been refering to.

A'dan dropped from the dragon, landing on his feet, and then walked forward, briefly scratching its eye ridges as its head lowered, and then he walked on, raising his eyebrows as he got close enough to note the details of their features, and he smiled.

"Hello," he said, giving a small bow, speaking formally, "I am A'dan, rider of blue Arunath from the Weyr."

[Cha'aka]

Cassia stood up quickly when she saw the dragon appear. She batted Mysia with the back of her hand lightly. "Look!" she exclaimed softly, pointing up at the dragon. Her heart started beating faster as she saw that the dragon was going to land next to them. She tried not to gasp as the rider dismounted and walked toward them.

"I am A'dan, rider of blue Arunath from the Weyr."

She swallowed and stepped forward. "Cassia, of Harper Hall, and my sister Mysia. Can I help you?"

[A'dan]

A'dan smiled, nodding, "I am on a Search... for potential candidates that could Impress to one of the dragons that will hatch soon... Arunath beleives that both of you could make exellent candidates."

[Cha'aka]

Cassia looked straight at him and crossed her arms. "That's because we would." She arched one eyebrow.

[A'dan]

A'dan's expression remained indifferent, "I know you would. Arunath does not make mistakes about these things." he replied.

-You're sure about her?- he asked his dragon.

-Did you not say that I do not make mistakes?-

-Yes...-

"The choice to come to the Weyr to attend the Hatching is, of course yours," he explained, "With the permission of your specialty master."

[Mysia]

Mysia listened intently as her sister and the rider talked. It was normal for her to let Cassia talk to new people, but even then she couldn't help but roll her eyes at her sister's pride. She quickly returned her gaze to A'dan though, scrutinizing his features with an artist's eye. Then she looked at the dragon, graceful with glitteringly bright scales and a keen intellect behind those swirling orbs.

"We want to go." She said suddenly, looking the rider in the eye before that flash of nerve failed her and she looked down at her hands once more.

[A'dan]

A'dan smiled, "Thats good news. Is your specialty master around? We can send word from the weyr if they aren't."

-Arunath, can you ask Peganth to come out here with Fowa?-

-She is... unavailable at the moment.-

"I can only take one of you at a time... I'll be back shortly," A'dan said, motioning for Cassia to follow him, smiling back at Mysia.

[Cha'aka]

Cassia strode after A'dan, glancing back at Mysia and flashing a rare excited grin, but her expression was impassive again by the time she was looking toward A'dan.

"How long will this trip take?" she asked bluntly, both in a hurry to arrive and for him to come back to get Mysia.

[A'dan]

"Only a few moments... I should warn you... when we go between, you'll feel an extreme cold, and it'll feel like you're alone, but you won't be... you'll still be on Arunath's back, and I'll be there too." he explained, helping Cassia onto Arunath's back, following her up and the dragon lifted into the air, stirring up a great deal of dust.

"You should breath in now." he said calmly a few seconds before they all vanished between.

[Cha'aka]

"You're so reassuring," Cassia muttered under her breath, then breathed in and they disappeared.

[Mysia]

Mysia waved after her sister with that amused knowing expression that said she knew exactly what her twin was doing. She let out a little sigh and wondered what she'd done. She'd changed her life again without a second thought, ignored every sensible fiber of her being and listened to that reckless part of her that she thought might actually be her sister invading her head again. Turning back to the hall she ran up to the doorway, hoping to get word to their respective masters by way of another apprentice and save the weyr some trouble. She hadn't lost her mind so completely she was in shock still... Well if she was she wouldn't let it affect her.

After giving a junior apprentice a near-heart attack with her quick succession of orders she watched him run off to obey with another sigh. This time she didn't run back out into the field, lingering a moment comsumed with thought. A dragonrider? It had never been a future she'd allowed herself to do more than vaguely dream about, but here she was pondering it like this were the most natural step in her life. Cassia she could picture riding one of the fighting dragons with pride and confidence, but... She only really imitated her sister's airs, did she really have what it took to ride one of the great dragons of Kresh?

[A'dan]

-Um... where'd she go?- A'dan asked as he surveyed the feild after they had emerged from the cold nothingness of between.

-By the Hall.- Arunath calmly replied, setting down a few dragon lengths from where she was.

A'dan dismounted again, walking over, "Not changing your mind, are you?" he asked with a smile as he approached.

[Mysia]

Mysia saw the dragon touch down and closed the distance without her usual calm. Quickly reprimanding herself for being nervous and excited and... Well, all out of sorts, which just wasn't her. She smiled at A'dan, her own quietly contemplative smile. "I don't change my mind that easily." It sounded almost arrogant, but her tone was quiet enough she doubted it could be misconstrued.

[A'dan]

A'dan nodded, "Good to hear," he said, smiling, motioning back towards Arunath, "This'll only take a second... now, when we go between, you'll feel an extreme cold... it will feel like there's nothing there with you, but I'll be there with you, and we'll still be on Arunath's back, no matter how it feels." He went through the prep speech as he helped her onto the dragon's back, then followed, "When I tell you to breathe in, breathe in."
