Welcome Back to The Lost Glade!

Well the new year has started and with it a rejuvenation of the kindred cup. All kindreds have been reset so if your not in one tell an admin what you want. The competitions will be happening each month starting with the Vaul's Anvil Challenge which will continue all year in order to motivate players to paint their miniatures so be sure to pop on into Vauls anvil for that!

A few other changes will be made very soon so if anybody is having any problems with anything tell an admin and we will get it sorted.

And lastly, don't forget to click the Warvault affiliate banner to the right over there! Vote for us and make us the #1 Wood Elf forum.

 Eternal Kindred, How does it work?

With the FAQ now letting us add normal gear to our eternal kindred how do you guys feel it works?

1) You can add mundane gear but do not benifit from it.

2) You can add mundane gear and benifit from it for example light armour gives you a 4+ save. A great weapon gets the extra attack rule etc.

3)Other (please state)

I've seen similar topics on Asrai.org but it never seems to be answered definitivly.

A. Yes.

It all depends on how the rules are worded for the Eternal Kindred. I don't have my army book here so I can't say for sure but I would imagine that the abilities will stack which is pretty cool actually.

Posted in case anyone is too lazy to look it up. I can see how this could go in multiple ways though. But with the advent of 8th ed and the 'you use what you have' rule, it makes it weirder.

I think the part that causes issues for most people is that in the description for the eternal guard fighting style it says ... Regardless of how the eternal guard are armed or armoured they have a 5+ save and have the extra attack as if using 2 hand weapons in base to base or spears if in the second rank.

Now this is clearly meant for the eternal guard units so u can have the old spear and shield models or the new spear stave ones. Hell you could even use Phoenix guard or something if it suited you.

Now I think the writers got lazy when making the eternal kindred and just linked to the other rule without putting any effort in. Without the FAQ I would say you couldn't get the benefit from mundane gear however the fact that the FAQ specifically says you can add the gear it only makes sense that you can benefit from it so I believe that you could infect have eternal kindred, light armour and great weapon on a noble and have a 4+ save and 4 s6 attacks. That's 11pts for something most armies get for free or for about 4pts at most.

I do see how it's a sticky subject however I don't see a single person seriously arguing against this when it stops you taking magic armour or weapons.
