Here is the pumpkin I carved this year, I'm pretty proud of it.

The picture is from some artwork I did in photoshop a few years back, I just turned up the contrast until it was all black and white, then I printed it out, taped it to the pumpkin and poked around the white areas with a tack. Then I took off the paper and shaved the outer skin off the pumpkin where the white areas were. The deeper you cut the lighter it will be. I saw pumpkins carved like this a few years ago and thought it would be cool to try. It turns out it is really easy! This is only my second attempt at carving a pumpkin using this method!
