Welcome Back to The Lost Glade!

Well the new year has started and with it a rejuvenation of the kindred cup. All kindreds have been reset so if your not in one tell an admin what you want. The competitions will be happening each month starting with the Vaul's Anvil Challenge which will continue all year in order to motivate players to paint their miniatures so be sure to pop on into Vauls anvil for that!

A few other changes will be made very soon so if anybody is having any problems with anything tell an admin and we will get it sorted.

And lastly, don't forget to click the Warvault affiliate banner to the right over there! Vote for us and make us the #1 Wood Elf forum.

I agree with Spoony, most of the old guys that used to post a lot still check back to this site somewhat often I'm sure, they just never post(lurking).
There really just hasn't been anything to talk about lately.
Even when i would go a month straight without posting i still log on to the site every few days.
I think we need to do something to spur activity back into people.
Recruiting new people isn't as much of a priority in my eyes.

I was thinking of a new kindred comp or at least starting up an old one again. The only reason their aint been 1 in a while is the people who hosted them are napping.

So... everybody up for a fluff comp? (pm me if yes rather than derailing the topic any more) Or give me other ideas, am more than happy to start and judge one.

Well I do think that something needs to be done with the TLG staff at least. A new openly active Admin would be nice--as in, someone that participates in the discussions. Having the Mods and Admins participate in the day-to-day threads makes the forum feel much more alive. The new Mod/Admin(s) can be voted in or chosen at the discretion of the current staff. Anyone that posts a lot, posts well, is mature and is willing to give up their time to address the forum issues could qualify for something like that.

Though Foxtale should know all about revving up activity. There's another site he moderates and that site has encountered a lot of inactivity in the past.

I think we shouldn't try to hard at artificially generating activity, lest we collapse from exhaustion afterwards. There has to be something sustainable that people can find a common interest in.

Yeah, I usually come on to TLG without logging on and scan the topics before closing the window again. Unfortunately, my interest in the actual game of Warhammer has been waning for quite some time, so I usually get confined to Off Topic and the Fluff/RP forum.

I may participate in the fluff competition, but I usually rely on spontaneous inspiration for writing stories.

From what I've seen in the short time I have been here, there is spot of January blues around, only a few regular posters, well done to seany prawny for that one, and a slight ghost town feel. This has been common on a few forums I have been on and is easily rectified. I agree that we need an active Admin and, or global mod, It took a while for me to get my kindred for instance. I see from the kindred threads that it is very deserted, Maybe kill them off for now, keep the badges as they are just a bit of fun. We had a similar 'bloodlines' event when I was a mod on Carpe and it just seemed to run it's natural course, so we ended it. I agree with merging inactive forums, there seem to be a few that are very deserted...

As for me, I would like to help, I contribute weekly with my BR's complete with piccies and maps and fluff, might not always be WE related but will always be bloody!
I would also like to start a PLOG and maybe a tale of four gamers, which I have done in the past on other forums, the last one I did on Carpe had 16 entrants which was probably a tadge too ambitious and very hard to keep on top of every one to keep painting..
I think I will start some kind of BLOG for my WE army as I am completely new to this race, having only started border battles with my guys last year, so it should prove interesting I hope...
Hope that will help liven up the place somewhat... But of course I am willing to help with any good ideas that come up biggrin.gif

Sounds great! I concur with the with an active Admin, and think that a Tale of Four Gamers would be great. Though I myself cannot paint well and find it very difficult to inspire myself to do so.

Merging of inactive forums may be a good idea, if only just to the make the forum feel less deserted.

Keep the ideas coming!

I'd love to do a tale of four gamers- as long as there's nothing against adding to my already existing Orc and Goblin army (I care about their painting the least)

I just tried to start Hurt and Heal back up- don't know how well it'll go at the moment, but it's a great game (and Servant of Isha's not around to do it)

I think Hurt and Heal is a good idea, but perhaps we should change up the teams from being kindreds since everyone is so spread out?
if people had the incentive to post every day to help out their team i think that would get people on the site more often, but with kindreds most people are on a team by themselves right now.

I dunno, just an idea.

No nothing wrong with that at all, and @ Schmeag - does not matter what standard of painter you are, so if you want to enter all the better for it.

I will start the tale of 4 gamers soon if I can get 3 dedicated allies in this, I will strart a thread in painting and modelling.

As for my WE Blog, that will start this wknd as I have my first proper WE battle next week, only 750 points but will be an ideal way for me to try out my WE tactics and plans, so look out for that, my list needs writing, units assembling and hopefully painting, or i might use them as my army for tale of 4 gamers...

Right then, must go hurt and heal............

oook as our forum still seems to be confined to that dusty, backwater place of the internet known as limbo, and since nothing much seems to have happened of late maybe we should start thinking of an immediate "action plan"?

I propose that:
We do a count up of who is actually still active (I don't think we should count the once in a blue moon posters on that subject). This will give us a rough idea of how we stand. I reckon there'll be a max of about 15/20 of us. After we know our numbers perhaps we can tailor a forum that was built for over 200 people down to our needs (for example scrapping the kindred forums, while a nice idea that would only work with bigger groups of people)
I also suggest maybe melding some of the forums together? With so many different sub-headings the few active topics are very spread out and far between.
We could also try and facilitate a change of staff like previously mentioned, oh and maybe the new staff could delete some (well it would be like a huge number) of the dead topics, maybe give TLG a new leese of life. It seems to me we're stuck in the past, time to adapt people!

TLG FTW

oh and also maybe if we change the forum's scheme back to it's original spring colours that might help to make the place at least seem more cheery

Love to have the green skin back on the site. The golden browness is awesome but also its...brown. Hardly the cheeryest colour. Could do with having our warvault thing fixed so we can get ourselves back into the web ring and attract more members.

not sure how I feel about merging forums together as it mkes the site look smaller.

Yep, good idea, especially the trimming part, it is quite a big forum for the few of us who post.
As for the colour I like it!

Kindreds can go for sure, till at least we get more new arrivals, fully agree, even thought I will keep my Wind rider banner, cause I like it.
And I also agree with new staff aka new ideas etc..
Can people volunteer for this, cause if so I would like to throw my hat in the ring.
I used to MOD on Carpe which is now huge, but I left as I got bored of VC and was not excited by the new book.
08 is all about my woodies...

Its all well and good suggesting all these improvements and changes but without at least 1 active moderator/administrator etc we are and will always be stuck on square one. None of these changes can be done without them. Is there a way we can E-mail Invisionfree.com or whoever this server is and plead with them our case for new admins? Cause otherwise nothing can change. Sorry to be so down about it its a good idea but just not practical unless we get some new mods or get back the old ones.
