Welcome Back to The Lost Glade!

Well the new year has started and with it a rejuvenation of the kindred cup. All kindreds have been reset so if your not in one tell an admin what you want. The competitions will be happening each month starting with the Vaul's Anvil Challenge which will continue all year in order to motivate players to paint their miniatures so be sure to pop on into Vauls anvil for that!

A few other changes will be made very soon so if anybody is having any problems with anything tell an admin and we will get it sorted.

Welcome, Lords and Ladies of the Asrai, to the second army list competition!

Once again we are looking for the most creative, fun and playable army lists you can design. There will be 3 judges - Geep, Nelyafinwë and me, Servant of Isha. Each judge will be marking the following categories:

Originality & Creativity - 10pts

Playability - 10pts

(including both how fun it is to play with and how well it will do)

Small story/Fluff piece (i.e. theme) - 5pts
(very little is required, unlike the fluff competition; 100-150 words. This does not have to be a single piece, it can be split between units/characters, though if it is then uniformity will be expected [no missing out the 'basic' units])

Miscellaneous - 5pts
(variable, & can include things like presentation of the army list etc since it's an overall impression - up to the judge's discretion)

Giving a total out of 30pts. The 3 scores out of 30 will be added up to make a final score out of 90. First, second and third places will get 50, 25 and 15 kindred points respectively, and a special title may well be up for grabs for the winner (up to the admins). 5 kindred points will be given for each entry recieved.

Text in addition to the fluff (such as tactics/ideas) may be included; it won't be marked specifically, but it may get you a mark on overall impression - who knows! It also gives us a better insight to the list, and may make us notice something that we wouldn't have done otherwise, so something like this may be worth adding.

Any army is allowed, it is not restricted to just the Asrai. Army lists can be any of the following: 500, 1000, 1500 or 2000pts. No other points values will be accepted. The lists may go a maximum of 5pts over, but may be penalised for doing so in the miscellaneous category. There are no limits per kindred, though each person may only submit a single entry each.

The lists have to be made from the most recent version of the army and dogs of war/regiments of renown may be used as rare/(special) choices in the normal manner. Special characters from the book and from the GW websites are allowed, so long as the army follows the normal restrictions. Player-made special characters are forbidden, as are characters from previous editions that haven't been brought up to date with the current army book.

Here are some alternative army lists you can use, along with the special characters on the GW site:
Chaos Dwarves
Dogs of War & Regiments of Renown
Cult of Slaanesh and City Garrison
Army of Middenland
Grimgor's Ardboyz
Special Characters

All entries should be sent via PM to me by the 8th of August. Do NOT post your army in this thread, though feel free to use the thread for any questions you may have etc.

I look forward to receiving your entries!

Servant of Isha.

I´m a bit confused about the point value.
QUOTE
Army lists can be anything up to 2000pts; no higher points values will be accepted.

So 2000 points )including a Lord is accepted...?

QUOTE
Each army should include the 'standard' number (e.g. 1000/1500pts) along with the total

??? blink.gif ??? what is meant by this? does it mean you have to make your army fit into known army list pointvalues?
Just say 'either 500, 1000, 1500 or 2000 point list' ???

Just trying to clarify things a bit.

This is what happens for trying to be varied... I meant that you could choose any value army list (up to and including 2000pts), but you must state what you're going for. You could go for a 1200pts force if you want, but you'd have to state you're doing that. I'm going to change that. There's little point in it anyway. Let's keep it simple, and go with multiples of 500.

Points values allowed: 500, 1000, 1500 or 2000pts.

Sorry about that. At least it got cleared up early.
Edit: I've changed the original post.

I suppose by this paragraph that any army is allowed? Like i may use my High Elfs for example? Its just the title makes it seem just asrai again.

Indeed any army is allowed, the title is just to make it sound better... clarified this in the first post.

I don't see why not. For those of you that don't know about them, they are simply minor modifications to the Lizardmen list for hosts dedicated to a single god. The rules can be found here:

Sacred Hosts.

Similarly, Back-of-Book armies (such as the Vampire Counts Bloodline lists) can also be used, but we'd expect you to use them fluffily and not as a way to include something really powerful for the sake of it!

Now I'm back I thought I'd remind you all that this competition is still running, and the deadline isn't all that far away, so get your entries in! The deadline as set is Wednesday the 8th of August, just 2 weeks away.

On a side note, if an admin could sway this for the last army competition as far as stickyness is concerned, that would be much appreciated.

I must admit I've been delaying in the hopes of gaining more entries - we've only had 2, which isn't amazing. Part of me would like to extend it to get more, but on the other had I really don't want this to drag on like the last competition.

If anyone does send in an entry in the near future I would be very pleased. Also, tell me your thoughts on what you think I should do.

I'd judge this competition anyway- the conversion competition only had 2 entries too.
Sometimes people are active here, sometimes there not, but I think dragging things out discourages people from entering later competitions.

I agree - I'm certainly not going to not judge it at all, and letting things drag out isn't good. Incidentaly if you'd like to submit an entry instead of judging Geep, feel free!

I'll send you and Nelyafinwё the entries, and I'll attempt to give an in-depth analysis of the two entries and add some extra things to keep it interesting (perhaps pose the question of what might happen should the two armies face each other in battle?) which you two are free to do or not as you wish depending on how much time you've got. If we have any more entries before judging is finished I'll accept them, but not after that.

Thanks for your thoughts, it confirmed what I was thinking.

I can as well enter something. I had no really good idea, but as there's only two entries I must at least try. Oh and it's a wood elven list and you will get some idea of what list it is when you look at hat kindred I'm part of wink.gif
