Welcome Back to The Lost Glade!

Well the new year has started and with it a rejuvenation of the kindred cup. All kindreds have been reset so if your not in one tell an admin what you want. The competitions will be happening each month starting with the Vaul's Anvil Challenge which will continue all year in order to motivate players to paint their miniatures so be sure to pop on into Vauls anvil for that!

A few other changes will be made very soon so if anybody is having any problems with anything tell an admin and we will get it sorted.

I have a confession to make.
...and a complaint.

After several years of collecting and painting, after hundreds of pounds and hours spent on models from the 3 main GW ranges: LOTR, WH40K and WHFB, I still have no idea how to play. laugh.gif

My first White Dwarf was WD289, was printed in England and cost £4.00
Out This Month included the Warhammer 2004 Annual, The BRetonnian Army Boxed Set and the Catachan Battle Force.

The latest is WD358, was printed in Poland and cost £4.50
New releases included the Space Wolves Pack, Wolf Guard Terminators and Njal Stormcaller.

There's less mix in White Dwarf nowadays, several issues tend towards a just released updated army and what are we paying that extra 50p for? There's no more or less pages in it - 129 in WD289 and 129 in WD358 - if we're paying for it to be shipped from Poland, why not bring it back?
The people at Games Workshop might not have 'lost their way' but the people who run it have.

That's very true. The most game I've played was in a Games Workshop store about 4 years ago in Bristol Cribbs Causeway where the explanation went in one ear and out the other blink.gif

Hmm. Interesting! I definitely wouldn't be in this hobby if it weren't for the gaming aspect of it.

It might be that bit at the back of my brain telling me not to "become one of them," I'm terribly prejudiced when it comes to hobbyists.

this has been a common compliant about GamesWorkshop for some time now, and is actually the main reason why i stopped playing Warhammer. The magazine and the website now focus far less on gameplay and focus more on just trying to get you to buy the product. Even when you go to a shop, they only talk to you about strategy and gameplay when their suggesting something for you to buy. One shop i was at wouldn't even let me play someone i met on an open table because it wasn't 'open gaming' night. Instead it was some kind of campaign that i would have to buy a book for to even play. I sat there a watched them play and it wasn't even really a game it was just a demo to get kids interested in buying an Ork army. I'm glad your interested in the hobby painting/modeling aspect of it, because if you were in this for gameplay, GW would seriously disappoint you.

The saddest part is it definitely was not this way about 8 or 9 years ago when i first got started.
