Welcome Back to The Lost Glade!

Well the new year has started and with it a rejuvenation of the kindred cup. All kindreds have been reset so if your not in one tell an admin what you want. The competitions will be happening each month starting with the Vaul's Anvil Challenge which will continue all year in order to motivate players to paint their miniatures so be sure to pop on into Vauls anvil for that!

A few other changes will be made very soon so if anybody is having any problems with anything tell an admin and we will get it sorted.

I think I've finally settled on a color scheme for my high elf army. It is super easy and I think it will look sharp once I get it all done. I did up a few test models (minus the skin so far) so let me know what you think:

The blue metal is just boltgun metal with a blue wash and the silver is just boltgun metal highlighted with mithril silver. The white is a basecoat of Kommando Khaki highlighted up to skull white. It should be quick and easy. I'm going to paint up a dragon prince, an archer and a silverhelm before I decide for sure but I'm pretty happy with it so far.

Wow that blue metal look amazing. I'm not too sure about the shine on the swords. At first glance it looks good but looking at it for abit put me off it. Maybe they just need to be thinner strokes or something. Then again this is an up close pic. on the table top it will look astounding I have no doubt.

The blue gems are particularly impressive.

Are you going to be doing anything with the shield? it looks abit odd with nothing on it. Then again as a unit it probably will work. I love the scheme though as a whole. Simple yet extremely effective.

Looking lovely. Really like the colour scheme. Brings out that pureness that High Elves always behold.

Which reminds me, need to take pics of my Flagellant squad so far - very... colourful I'd say.

Thanks! I'll probably be more careful with the sword effect when I'm actually painting them for real, this was more of a quick test-paint to make sure it looked like I imagined it in my head.

I haven't decided if I'm going to put anything on the shields, I kinda like the blank white but it might look funny in a fully ranked unit. I'll paint them up blank to start and then once the unit is done I'll make that decision I think. I've got a long way to go before I get to that point though!

They look quite cool, HC. Not quite my style, I like lots of colour popping off the unit, but I can see it being a very effective look. I would suggest a design on the shield though, I think it will look too whitewashed without it. Something subtle, just enough to break up the solidity.

Interestingly enough, the effect you have on the sword is kind of what I've been looking for, but in regards to my Sternguard's bolter casing! I figure century-old veteran marines should have funky weapons, and marble texture is pretty ostentatious hehe.
