Welcome Back to The Lost Glade!

Well the new year has started and with it a rejuvenation of the kindred cup. All kindreds have been reset so if your not in one tell an admin what you want. The competitions will be happening each month starting with the Vaul's Anvil Challenge which will continue all year in order to motivate players to paint their miniatures so be sure to pop on into Vauls anvil for that!

A few other changes will be made very soon so if anybody is having any problems with anything tell an admin and we will get it sorted.

And lastly, don't forget to click the Warvault affiliate banner to the right over there! Vote for us and make us the #1 Wood Elf forum.

i was thinking i could use some high elf models as bretts... it would represent a "last alliance between elves and men" sort of thing

You could always use the Lord of the Rings models.

QUOTE (Schmeag @ Mar 8 2007, 06:43 AM)
You could always use the Lord of the Rings models.

The only problem with that is all the bases will be round and not the standard rectangle versions of 'proper' cavalry. So you'll have to fork out cash for the models (relatively more expensive than fantasy) and cav bases.

Its an idea and for friendly games that is what i plan to do with my silver helms and dragon princes when i get round to wanting a bret army.

It would work and i guess most tournys will allow it though some may disagree with you.

Good luck with it.

Also note the scale is different in warhammer and LOTR. The LOTR models look kinda tiny compared to warhammer once.

A great idea, use the Bretonian horses as they are cool.

There is an army that rides under the banner of Mordheim. It has some horsemen that are Bretonnians and High Elves. Maybe you could do a mixture of units so half the Horsemen are Bretonnian and Half are high elf silver helms.

That army would look sweet with dragonprinces riding pegasi, and an elf lord on a hipogriff. Also, you could use all Brets for the core choice cavilry and elves for the elites (that way you save money on your special choices cuz all your stuff would be plastic biggrin.gif )

That could look really cool, if you use High elves as the very eilte of the army.

I could see them as a unit of Grail Knights, with magical attacks and as damsels too.

A unit of High elf riding pegasus knights would be very cool too.

It would be perfect for a flank attack scenario, with the outnumbered "Normal" Brettonians fighting against some foul opponent such as Orcs or Chaos and a relief force made up of a unit of High elf Grail Knights, Pegasus Knights, a damsel and a hero mounted on either a steed or a pegasus too.

Would you paint the elves in brettonain style colours?

There're no official lists that allow you to combine the two. but if you do want to incorperate elven models with humans then it's best left to cavalry (i.e when moevement doesn't come into effect) I did it with my Dogs of war (i'll repaint them over time and when i'm happy i'll post some piccies) but i went with Dark Elves rising up against the witch king (too many failures) so they had to hire some mercenaries to help boost their numbers

Captain - the cold one knight command with the dragon
Paymaster - the executioner champion with the cold one knight champion sword and a shield
Sorcerer - i'd need to look one up (only played a joint list with them and my ally had a sorcerer as a general. Most likely a converted beastmaster)
Crossbowmen - empire crossbowmen
Heavy cavalry - cold one knights riding bretonnian/empire barded steeds
duellists - Witch elves if they had two hand weapons, shades with the crossbows cut off and spheres for pistols
Pikemen - spearmen/spearelves
light cavalry - dark riders
cannon - empire cannon with converted crew (i used an old gretchin loader from 40k and the monkey from the empire handgunners box)
Paymaster bodyguard - black guard
Dwarves - would never use/too much hassle to think of a reason
Norse Marauders - chaos marauders with warpaint and horns filed down
Ogres - Ogres from any range
halflings - couldn't think of a unit apart from halflings
Hot pot - converted cauldron of bloodapult

The only thing is with Dogs of war you're really restricted in your magic items
