Title: Sisters of battle

I noticed a few of you mentioned having sister armys and i was hoping for some tips.

Currently I have 400 pts:
Cannoness
5xseprephim
10x stormtroopers

I would be grateful of some general tips nothing to in depth and what would make a balanced 1000 pts list.

Retributor Squad, and Battle Sisters are the meat and potatoes of this army.

Faith Points are very important. Keep that in mind when making a list. If you use allies (imperial Guard) you are actually weaknening the army by draining possible faith points, and having models that die very easily.

Even my basic sisters squads are really hard to kill with the miracle that gives them a 3+ invulnerable save...

I completely agree with that (though I'm only just starting them myself). The sisters will see you through. Restributors are brilliant as are seraphim. I wouldn't take guardsmen, or (in 1000pts) any tanks, but that last is personal preferance.

No you are right Servant... If you take a lot of core sisters of battle and max out their faith points, you will kick butt in 1000 points. One Retributor Squad is all you need for heavies in that low a game.

You can use one meltagun per squad to remove opponent's tanks easily. Always take a Heavy flamer on your Battle Sisters as well as a melta gun and your cheapest troops will always be a BIG threat to your enemy.

I win a lot of games with my Sisters, and only have trouble with Dark Eldar... But who doesn't? heh heh.

Wouldnt a unit of dommions in an immolator be quite powerful in a 1000 pts, espcially with flamers.

Whats the best way to army retributors hevay bolters or melta guns?

Servant of Isha - February 7, 2006 07:42 PM (GMT)
Heavy bolters in my opinion....they can't move, so won't take advantage of the doubled armour penetration for under 12" range. Heavy bolters have a longer range, and work just as effectively at the longer ranges.

Retributors should have 4 Heavy Bolters in them. Multi Meltas suck in Retributors.

However, a Multimelta in a Celestine Squad who can position itself better can be good.

THe immolator is very fragile and is an easy kill for a rocket Launcher, or a Heavy Bolter squad (needs a 6 to glance).

My favorite Dominion Squad (and best performing Dominion Squad) has 4 Storm Bolters, + Veteran with Storm Bolter, and 1 fig with a normal bolter. It performs awesome every game. 24" Assault is amazing.

Don't use vehicles in 1000 points. They are too easy to kill and not worth the points. Rhinos are easily killed as well... If you have any melta guns in your basic sister squads, or a multimelta in a Celestine, plasma gun in your Seraphim or Retributor with Heavy Bolters, you will have enough anti tank.

Take a blessed weapon and inferno pistol with your celestine as well as a jump pack and the cloak (gives her a 2+ save - which turns into a 2+ invulnerable with a miracle).

Max your miracle points out.

Stormtroopers are generally a waste of points. For one more point, you get a 3+ save and a S4 weapon in a battle sister. Take them, if at all, for the plasma guns.

An Eversor Assassin can be deadly in 1000 points.

As for the Dark Eldar, keep all your units very close to each other- try refusing a flank. Dark Eldar try to catch isolated units and destroy them, so don't leave any "appendages" laying around. Keep your "body" dense and small.

just to validate that below 1,850pts it's not wise to have ALLIES. you can but you're not maximizing the SOBs strenghts.

SOB are mid range fighters. go with lotsa inferno pistols, heavy flamers and hvy bolters. take multi melta on your immolators and let your exorcists do the tank hunting.
