Title: Forum Done?
Hillbilly Carl - January 14, 2010 10:23 PM (GMT)
I don't want to be the one to say it, but I'm pretty sure this forum is finished. It has been an excellent place to share ideas, meet new friends and generally talk about Warhammer and other hobbies but there hasn't been any activity in months. I probably won't be coming back here anymore to check for updates.
Thanks everyone for making this one of the best forums I've been a member on!
Zelt Arruin - January 15, 2010 12:31 AM (GMT)
Aye, it would seem that it is ending. Though I would not mind trying to revitalize it, I am uncertain how well that will turn out. Also, what about the dungeon-crawl?
Balthorn - January 15, 2010 11:46 AM (GMT)
To be honest, I remeber reading through the posts on the occasions I've returned after leaving for an extended period of time, and there is always talk of revitalising the forum. It seems that each time, fewer people feel the need. I hate to say it too, since this is one of my fav sites, but I think HC is right. The end is nigh. I'll keep checking back to see if the holiday lull is just that, but yeah...
Damn shame about Dungeon-Crawl though.
I would suggest if people want to stay in touch, perhaps post some contact details up, or other forums they will be frequenting. I'll be on The Bolter and Chainsword (google it, not hard to find) as Thanatos. And my PSN ID is Asrai86.
SeanyPrawny - January 15, 2010 12:20 PM (GMT)
I do blame myself for this. We do only have like 8 members now though you guys are the greatest people I've ever known just for holding true for so long. The few things I did try to do for this site ended in frustration. Like the warvault link for example. Or making a forum skin. The fact is I just don't feel the same love for this place as I used to and I was only trying to really keep it slightly afloat for the memory of Highborn Sycath. If any of you do want to try and carry this place on I'll happily let you try. Just say and I'll give you the powers coz I trust you all. I do think it is past redemption now though. I also frequent the B&C, same name if any of yas care :p
Hillbilly Carl - January 15, 2010 01:21 PM (GMT)
I'm on Coolminiornot under the same username but I don't post there much. I'm also on WAMP under the name nathanr.
Zelt Arruin - January 15, 2010 03:00 PM (GMT)
I don't frequent many forums nowadays, but I am either ZeltArruin or Zelt Arruin, so I am sure you will recognise me, I bet my avatar will be the same too...
If you ever feel compelled to email me, I have a gmail account under zeltarruin.
It is a shame that both of my forums, High Elf and here, have slipped away in under a year, espescially given the friends I have made at these places. I am never a fan of 'good-byes', but there is little that can be done at this point. You can be sure that I will still lurk around here every now and then, checking for signs of life. So if you want to, I will take up the mod status or whatever, just in case.
Billfred - January 16, 2010 09:02 PM (GMT)
It was very nice while it lasted.
Thanks Spoony for inviting me to a very nice forum. (:
I'm off to the bleakest parts of Yorkshire on Monday... have fun you guys!
somaticon - January 18, 2010 01:21 AM (GMT)
I cant believe that this forum is dying. It's a real shame as it was one of the best woodelven forums on the net.
Hillbilly Carl - January 18, 2010 04:17 PM (GMT)
Well it wouldn't be dead if there were as many replies to other threads as there are in this one. I'm as guilty of this as anyone but it is hard to post an army list or battle report and not get any replies.
Zelt Arruin - January 21, 2010 01:44 AM (GMT)
I know what you mean, HBC. It is even harder if you aren't playing 8 months out of the year.
WinterGuardian - February 15, 2010 11:52 PM (GMT)
One day, a few years from now, GW will give the Wood Elves an update or a new book.
This forum will flourish again, and i'll be here.
I'll still check back every month or two like i am now, good luck everybody im sad to see the end to such a great community.
The Lone Warrior - February 16, 2010 10:32 AM (GMT)
Hey guys, seems like everyone feels the same.
It's a real shame that there's no activity on here anymore
I think part of it may be my fault. We were all posting and talking until the Vaul Anvil Challenge fell apart thanks to my uni work. It seems after that not a lot has happened
Even though I believe this is the end for now, I'd still like for the site to be kept open as the hundreds of posts on here will still be good to look over and keep.
If you'd like, I'd be happy to take responsibility for it. Like Winter Guardian said, when the next WE book arrives I see this place flourishing again, even if for a short while.
It's sad to see this place in decline.
You've all been good friends and advisers.
Cheers to you all.
SeanyPrawny - February 16, 2010 12:45 PM (GMT)
Don't blame yourself Lone, you kept the site active far past its time.
I'm still floating around here so the site won't be closing. There is alot of good information here in fact I think that's probably why no1 posts, we've already covered everything lol.
The Lone Warrior - February 16, 2010 02:04 PM (GMT)
Thank you Seany
Am glad it'll be staying open
Hee hee maybe your right, maybe we between us have all eliminated everything that needs to be said for our pointy eared friends
P.S. Erm this may seem a strange request, what with the current topic, but I originally signed up as Varnu Heartleaf but sumet went wrong and my computer shutdown before i could note down the password and when I couldn't get back on as that user I re-signed up as the Lone Warrior. Is there any chance you could change my user name to Varnu Heartleaf? I'd just like to know my true WE name was here at the end
SeanyPrawny - February 17, 2010 09:57 AM (GMT)
Consider it done my friend. I was going to change my name to Ecthelion since SeanyPrawny is hardly wood elfy but I figured it would just confuse people haha
Varnu Heartleaf - February 17, 2010 02:03 PM (GMT)
Thank you Seany
Much obliged
I think maybe if you declared it before hand people would understand
Billfred - February 17, 2010 07:32 PM (GMT)
Heya guys, it's been a while I know.
Still in Garrison unfortunately, getting my 2 weeks break on the 26th though - so just 1 more week (:
I'm glad to see that it's staying open, I don't like seeing forums closed, all that information lost in one click...
All the best,
Gil Galed - February 27, 2010 07:30 PM (GMT)
It's not done while it still exists on the web, we can always come back at some point :)
o and you guys can always find me on B&C or xbox live under 'gil galed'
SeanyPrawny - February 27, 2010 07:37 PM (GMT)
Yeah I think am always gonna be floating around.
Varnu Heartleaf - February 28, 2010 10:29 AM (GMT)
I'll always be around too.
Geep - March 1, 2010 07:59 AM (GMT)
I'll float around occasionally. I really like this forum- it's small enough that I can consider all of the people posting here as friends.
I have given a vague explnation of my recent disappearance on another thread I just made...
If people want to contact me outside of this forum you can send a PM (I'll see the e-mail), and I also visit Warseer (but don't post much).
It'll be a while before I feel like getting back onto the dungeoncrawl game- I'll PM those involved when that happens. Sorry about leaving that.
Hillbilly Carl - March 1, 2010 09:16 PM (GMT)
Its ok Geep, I'm glad you're back. I may have been a bit premature about calling the forum done, it seems as though there's a little life left in it after all!
Zelt Arruin - March 3, 2010 01:03 AM (GMT)
I would gladly help in the revivification of this forum, as the other I frequent is doing much the same.
Varnu Heartleaf - March 3, 2010 09:44 AM (GMT)
Anyone any ideas how we could revitalise the forum? The 8th Ed Thread seems to have got people talking again if negatively
SeanyPrawny - March 3, 2010 11:29 AM (GMT)
Comps, games, rule/item discussions...
Hillbilly Carl - March 3, 2010 04:49 PM (GMT)
I think the biggest thing is just responding to other people's posts. If someone posts an army list then read it and comment on it. If someone posts a battle report, say "nice win" or "maybe you should have taken wardancers instead of glade riders" or something to that effect. There may not be a bunch of new stuff for wood elves but there are certainly a lot of new armies and units out there that could be talked about. For instance how should wood elves go about killing a hydra? I think if we each make an effort to be more active then the forum will become more active and hopefully new people will stop by and see the activity and decide to stay.
Spoony - April 3, 2010 12:48 PM (GMT)
I still stop by to lurk every so often. It's a very comfortable place here. Keep your eyes up, gentlemen. I daresay there'll be somebody kicking up dust around here before you know it.
Silly Dragon Elf the Third - May 29, 2010 08:58 AM (GMT)
Now hang on a god damned minute here people!
So we don't have that many members and we don't have well i don't know a yatch with loads of bikini clad babes waiting on us to...look here i go again getting side tracked. What i was going to say is that how much of your time would it take to log in and look every once and a while? (i know i can't really say anything) Post some stuff even if its facebook Bull stuff like "weeeee i went on a slide today" no scratch that. No not that babe ahhhh thats better....whoa sorry again.
I stopped comming onto this site becuase i wanted to focus on getting my life back on track (not that successful but at least i don't feel like jumping infront of every car/train/person i see...wait did i say person? ah so i did). AND i kinda stopped playing warhammer abit.
But i wanted to come back and see how things were doing and the first i see is this topic and it reminds me of the same negative mentality i had (and still have every now and then).
If we all go our seperate ways or stay in comtact at least try to come back to the home where it all started even for pure reminisence (spelling wrong i know).
Hope you all the best and more hopefully see you around.
PS. I am also now on xbox live and my gamertag is Roqueapplepie. That is with a Q yes i know spelling wrong. Damn keyboard...Kristine babe make a note for a new one will you darling and...oh wait sorry.
Lindsay - June 19, 2012 05:35 AM (GMT)
Hello and greetings to all. Wow, it sure has been a VERY long time since I have visited TLG! Great to see some of the old members still lurking around! I was reading some of my old posts and remember the good times we all had around here.
Well, much has changed. I'm now 22 (nearly 23) and still do the odd gaming with my mates. I actually sold all of my wood elf army a couple of years ago as I just wasn't gaming often enough and lost interest. I do however still play the odd game involving warbands and other RPGs with a single character (such as Dungeons and Dragons). How times change!
I've gone through university (studied property) for 3 years, worked full time for a few months and then I'm back doing tertiary study again (quantity surveying to build on my property degree) for another couple of years.
I just had to post. I will keep TLG on my favourites so I can visit from time to time. I agree with others that when (if) Games Workshop update the wood elf army book, numbers will come flooding back. I for one probably won't look to purchase again as I just have other things going on in life now.
Until next time,
SeanyPrawny - June 19, 2012 12:00 PM (GMT)
Good to hear from you Lindsay, Congratz on the Property Degree.
I don't game nearly as much as I would like. Maybe a few games a year, Wood elves will always be my Fantasy army however and I don't see myself ever not having them. Can't bring myself to get rid of any warhammer stuff :p
Anyway its good to hear from you again and hope you do stick around abit, when we do get topics going it would be nice to have some input from you :)
Edit: Happy Birthdays btw
Lindsay - June 21, 2012 02:56 AM (GMT)
Thanks SeanyPrawny on the degree and birthday.
If I ever were to get another Warhammer army it would definately still be wood elves. Always had a soft spot for the elves!
Will stick around and pop by from time to time too.
Zelt Arruin - June 22, 2012 08:39 PM (GMT)
There's a couple of us lurkers hanging around here! Good to hear you're doing well for yourself, too. I graduated about a year ago and have a job and all that now, and while the cash is nice, I miss my free time. Makes it a lot harder to paint and game....
Hillbilly Carl - April 3, 2013 10:41 PM (GMT)
I was feeling nostalgic today and decided to peruse old topics, man this forum used to be great. Does anyone still stop by here at all?
