Description: Gonna start slow I think.

My love for wild riders and eternals has always been a problem for me since I like to go over the top and have either loads of one or loads of another. I've made a list recently using both however that isn't over the top (to me) and actually doesn't look to bad (again to me). This is where I need your help though to advise me on it as although I have them sorted I'm kinda freaking out about the core choices now lol I've made like 20 different versions of the same list just altering core and its killing me. Here's my favourite of the lists so far.
Noble, Eternal, Blight of Terrors (go with eternals)
8 Dryads (support eternals flank)
8 Dryads (support eternals flank)
5 Glade riders, musician (do the old bait and switch/harass war machines/mages)
20 Eternal guard, musician, standard (7-3 formation up the middle of the field)
5 Wild riders, musician, standard, war banner (hunt small weak easily broken targets/ support units)
6 Wardancers, musician (what ever the hell they like)
There's really no limit on what I can change as I either have most of everything or its easily bought. I'd appreciate any and all advice, thanks.

I've never played with a list liike this, but I'd say it looks good.
Blight of Terrors is an unusual item to take, but I can see it having its uses in small games- especially against some races. What are your likely opponents?
what are your otherlists like? What is it that you are questioning?
SeanyPrawny - March 30, 2009 12:05 PM (GMT)
My opponents are most likely empire, high elves (not too sure though) VC, quite abit of chaos and lizard men though to be honest I rarely play games of fantasy ever and its only on the odd occasion that any1 else does.
My other lists have more alot of glade guard or glade riders in place of dryads or no Wardancers and some Waywatchers instead. this seems the more competitive. the blight of terrors would probably be more for against the empire but as its the full 50pts I could switch it to other things against other armies without breaking the points limit.
What I'm questioning is the list as a whole competitively against all comers. As I don't get many games (played one game once in rl with the new wood elves and that was a 2v1 game lol (i was one of the 2) I've managed to play as chaos and undead in a couple of games when some guys asked me to stand in for them but I play much more 40k than anything. I want to try and get alot more games of fantasy in this year though.

It is an interesting list to be sure, only 6 bow shots per turn and a big block of infantry supported by skirmishers and fast cavalry. It seems like it could work well, especially at 1000 points.
Once you get to the higher point levels then you will need something that can deal with big threats (you don't have anything now) and I would increase your bows as well. 2 units of 10 glade guard at 2000 points is the minimum, I prefer 3 units of 10 since it allows you to rain the arrows down on advancing enemies. I would also put in a treeman at this level as it gives you some real hitting power and the ability to take on some of the scarier things in the Warhammer world. It also takes the big target off your unit of eternal guard.
Your first 1000 points looks like a good start, I'd try some different magic items with the noble, the Amber Pendant comes to mind. That would give you a bunch of attacks before your oppenent gets to attack, even if they charged.

I was actually thinking of removing the eternal kindred from him and having the old amber pendant and great weapon trick going on him along with maybe the gwythercs horn thing to make enemy have to charge the unit. Other ideas included the annoyance of netlings for challenges in case I come across some blood dragon vampire guys lol.
I actually figured the dryads and or Wardancers could handle anything big and threatening but like I said I have little to no experience.
My eternals, wild riders, dryads and noble came today (along with the new space wolf model) so should be getting them sorted very soon and hope for a game soon after that.
EDIT just seen my brothers list that he is starting to use when he plays the game. Empire gunline. 3 - 4 units of handgunners with the sniper guy in and 2 cannons with a commander on horseback to keep his guys in check. (Ld) I think I would suffer against this list. The mas of S4 shots would take me apart and his sniper guys can pick out guys from units like that 1 bow we have (bit pissy) he was talking about a 3rd cannon too so now sweating abit now lmao.
Do you think this list could take that?
Charok - March 31, 2009 11:24 AM (GMT)
With Empire gunline, I think your best bet is speed. No treemen, no treekin, just lots of fast things. Yes, you'll get shot up badly, but the constant advance will see you in combat soon. And then the whole gunline concept falls apart.
I see deployment here more critical than actual army composition. Position your units as close as you can and never stop marching.
Then again, if you like your brother, let him shoot you up. It's really satisfying for an Empire player to vent off like that once in a while

Considering how much money he owes me I think I'll just keep marching
 thanks Charok.

I am loving the list and want to use it myself! In fact consider the idea stolen! lol
Against Empire Gunline just take screens of Dryads. -1 to hit Immune to panic and 5+ ward with T4 makes them a very good screen. If they make it then at least 3-4 will take down a unit of Hangunners fairly easy. Instead of having Eternals in the middle have them on the flanks where there is most terrain cover and have all skirmishers in the middle (worked for me against DE boltline and magic heavy at 1500pts+). Obviously forget about treemen in the middle but by all means don't be afraid to take them. Remember nothing can shoot you in combat (maybe skaven can? i think or is that older books?).
Edit: One thing i would change is the blighty of terrory for the amby pendanty + Greaty weapon. It will protect him more (best defense is a good offense) and be cheaper (Take a shield if his got snipers as you never know). Or the regen armour. The few games where i tried the Blighty it did nothing and i think is too overpriced. (35pts most).
Good luck with it and give us some battle reports! Eager to see this one's performance.

Thanks Silly. Against the empire gun line I was thinking about eternals behind the dryads but I think your right about the flanks since a stray (or strategicly misguided) cannon ball could still rip through them.
The more I think about the blight I actually like it more. Its takes up his whole magic gear allowance but against the VC it will basicly make the eternals immune to fear since their commander is terrifying. Against everything else the Terror should just be a huge pain. I guess I'd have to see in a game really. After all it comes down to the enemy's Ld and dice rolls.
