Title: Heya. New WE player here.
isabelra1 - September 27, 2007 02:40 PM (GMT)
Hey Folks!
Just signed up to the site after starting my first Wood Elf army. I've been playing Warhammer for about 15 years on and off, but just got back into after a 7 year break. (Daughter was born, working on career etc..)
Glad to be back into Fantasy but all my models were out of date. I loved the new WE models so picked up a battalion of them, a box of wild riders and 1 box of eternal guard plus the codex. Wish I had read the codex first though, I was reading through the fluff and thought it would be great to start an army based on Coeddil. (Treeman ancient that betrayed the WEs and slaughtered a bunch of wild riders, Ariel banished him and his dryad handmaidens to the south eastern dark forest). I was thinking of making an all tree army with a warped and twisted theme. Here's a 2k army list i was thinking of.
Lords:
Treeman Ancient (Coeddil) - A cluster of Radiants, An annoyance of Netlings, A murder of spites, A befuddlement of mischiefs. (I just pictured him swarming with spites hahah)
1 Branchwraith Lvl 1 wiz
1 Branchwraith Lvl 1 wiz
Core:
15 Dryads
15 Dryads
15 Dryads
Special:
4 Treekin
4 Treekin
Rare:
1 Treeman
This comes out to exactly 2000 pts.
It's very low on models, but really I was just thinking it would be fun to play around with  But having an entire army without a single model below 4T and 2A is pretty nice! All fear causing, all immune to pych etc etc. And the ability to move a single forest 8" to 20" in a single turn! hahah
One change I might like to make is taking the 100 pts of spites from the ancient and giving the Branchwraiths each one of the terror causing spites. That would give me 4 terror causing models in the army. Psycology can be a battle winner against most armies. What do you think?
Look forward to chatting with you folks. Think I'm going to like the Wood elves. They are so diverse now I can see myself fielding several differant kinds of armies from 1 race. When I first started playing Warhammer, they just had a handfull of models and were allies to High elves. Not their own army.

Welcome isabelra1
15 years is quite a long time.
Pure forest spirit armies aren't that uncommon, although most people prefer more dryads over treekin. I like your version (with treekin), although would suggest more units of less dryads (makes it easier to flank/ less likely to be devastated by a single spell, etc.).
If you post this list in the army list area you can get feedback without confusing it with the general welcomes which usually happen here.

Just realized I turned my introduction into an army list sorry about that :p
But for me, I'm a single father of a beautiful 3 1/2 year old girl. I'm from New Jersey, near atlantic city and I work in the Technician department for a Jet charter service.

Welcome to the site isabelra1. An all tree army theme would be pretty awesome but you may want to consider branch nymphs in your dryads, also you can't have the same spite on more than one character - I know four terror causing models would be great! You could get three though (2x treeman and terror spite on branchwraith).
You may also like to join a kindred, check out the pinned topics in the introductions forum for more information.

Welcome to the site friend. A jet technician was needed indeed, maybe you can do something about the Great Eagle's gases.
If you haven't noticed, we have an excellent Photo Album where you can post your daughter's photo as also yours.
As commented to the appropriate forum, I like your list, I say you try it, alot.
Have a joyful stay!!!
