Title: 1000+ pt Lords and Heroes
Description: Am I completely looney?

TreeKin - March 18, 2007 08:19 AM (GMT)
I had an idea the other day. Orion is around 500pts (off the top of my head), and already he's relatively awesome. But would it be legible (if not possible) to have a lord or hero thats 1000pts or more? He (or she, trying not to be sexist) wouldn't just be a warrior, he would also have to be a wizard (or partially anyway).

Is this idea completely useless or is there something that could be made from it, like special rules and, something else i thought of, a sort of a bound spell?

I dont think its possible to make a lord who's 1000pts by himself. Of course a Chaos Lord on a Dragon, with 100pts of artifacts and a mark of Tzeench (the most expensive mark, makes him a wizard as well) would probably be close. (lol)
Those whaky chaos characters.

Zacharias the Everliving from the Undead book: cost, 1015pts.

Level 4 wizard with lots of magical bonuses (including a 15+ casting of invocation of Nehek), counts as having a dispel scroll for each turn of the game (150points in itself, though limited that you can only use one per turn), bound spell etc etc... plus he's as good as any other Necrarch vampire lord in combat, add a 300pt zombie dragon.

Though to be honest these really powerful characters don't get much use; they're not really worth it until at least 3000pts in most cases.

Servant of Isha.

Cool! Thanks for the comments! I'm still a bit of a noob when it comes to playing warhammer.

If I remember correctly, there already are a few 1k + characters. Lord Kroak from the Lizardmen comes to mind at like 1200 or something.

I have an idea!
il get on it, a 1K hero you say, i can do this

Hethratar: the forgotten dragon prince

- a dragon prince that fougth in the war of the beard, but his dragon was a forest dragon, anyway, his dragon was maimed during the war, and the elves were unable to transposr the dragon across the sea, unable to abandon his trusted friend, he brings it to athel loren to heal and sleep, joining the wood elf society, as the years passed, he became connected with the forest, and no longer wished to return to the high elven court that had abandoned him.So, hes a rediculously good high elf/wood elf fighter, with 2 rings ( bound spells?) or is a mage , with really good armor, and can use high magic, and of course, on a dragon, a really jacked dragon.. ill write the rules for him.... and test him...muyhahha

Treekin, you asked if you were a complete looney and i think...maybe, but Isaldomere most definatly is (lol) tho isald' you have got me wondering what your cooking up so i can't wait :p this should be good.

Well, I was primarily thinking of some wanderer or very powerful person who had collected quite a few odd bits and pieces with magical qualitites. Also he would have a lot a martial arts experience and some wizardry experience.

there are a few 1K plus characters that i know if, Lord Croak seems to be popular

one thing people seem to not like though is characters that are good in combat and also very strong wizards

Like the Witch-King, he costs 950pts, is amazing in combat and a lvl 4 wizard but nobody ever takes him
if he is in combat, then your not using the wizard part of him..
and then if he's casting spells, your not using his close combat potential

personally i'd rather have a character that was specialized in one area like Lord Croak, or had a cool special ability like the movable bolt thrower Orion

if you want to make a wood elf character, maybe have it be like a super tree singing/ forest spirit summoning lord that could move multiple forests and get dryads to pour out of them, and maybe even raise a forest as a really difficult spell

that would have to cost over 1000 points and it would be more usefull then a dragon-riding close combat lvl 4 wizard

Sounds like a better idea to me...

I think you would really struggle to make a balanced 1000 point character without giving him a lot of useless equipment.

Even if he was a level 4 mage on a dragon and a good fighter, like the witch king he'd still struggle to make his points back, and he should really be low toughness and armour to fit in the wood elf theme, though he could always regenerate or have a cool ward save.

If Orion only costs 575 and the twins on a dragon are 595 then a 1000 point character would have to be pretty tasty.

The only thing I could think of would be a tooled up Ariel, make her almost as good a fighter as Orion, she can fly, is a level 4 mage with some extra abilities (like all the Anthel Loren spells) and maybe some nifty items such as the acorn that gives you another wood and maybe a special ward save too.

Or you could make an extra tough treeman ancient maybe with a load of bound spells and all the spites!

TreeKin - March 29, 2007 04:10 AM (GMT)
Both those ideas i really really like! Consider this: Ariel (600pts) with all her spells and other parifanalia...plus armour plus a suitable weapon plus higher weapon skill, attack and strength.

Another i thought of was Orion decked up with armour...

Just a suggestion!
