Title: Heavens Lore

How do you play with Heavens? basically for thunder and lightning spells, even though they arent magic missile spells my group plays like they are for targeting purposes since thier range is so vast, and were split on opinions on how comet should be, as of now thier are no restrictions, as in if i have a lone character thats within 5" of us5 troops, course it would be kinda silly if we did get that exception, since its a freakin comet smashin down, but we have lowered the strength to 4.

basically, the spells are played exactly how they are listed.
There is no limitations on range, so its a definite bonus when it comes to casting the spells. Also there is the matter of line of sight, and since i dont have my rulebook here, i cant exactly answer that question.

Yeah just play the spells as listed in the Warhammer rule book, which I have borrowed from my friend at the moment. Forked Lightning and Uranon's Thunder Bolt can both be cast on any unit on the tabletop (just like it says in the spell explanation). You then roll 1D6 to determine the number of hits and these are distributed exactly like hits from shooting.
As for the Comet of Casandora you can cast the spell upon any fixed point on the tabletop. Also the only spell in the Lore of Heavens that requires line of sight is Storm of Cronos.

Yes i know the range is unlimited, and dispersing the hits and all but the main argument is should you allow the spell/s to target lone charcters or lone man size models (ex banshee) if within 5" of a US5 unit. which means your treating it like a magic missile but no need for LOS. which we have always played with since we figured its too good otherwise especially since you have good chance of getting 1 of the 2, dont get me wrong, we know how the spells are supposed to perform according to the rules(including the revised suggested heavens and life), im just tryin to get a grasp on how others (outside my group) follow up on the "rules", mainly does each group have thier own revised house rules or whatnot in result of long-time gaming.

I'm reading the revised lore right now, and both forked lightning and uranons thunder bolt state that they can "target a unit blablabla etc.." If you'd really play by the written rules, I think it would mean that you couldn't target lone characters with it, but as far as I know I always did use 'm to turn enemy characters into cute little piles of ash and no-one really complained (ok, cursed maybe for not dispelling it...) The same goes for the comet by the way..

The spells can target single characters, although if you want to use it otherwise as a house rule then that is fine (the heavens lore is considered one of the most powerful at the moment). The revised lore limits it to 24" instead of the whole battlefield, which goes some of the way to re-addressing it (although not much; most things iwll be within 24" range).

Oh, right. Servant of Isha has already explained what I needed to say.
