Currently I'm working on a system a bit equivalent to the Kindred Competitions, turned Undead though. I was thinking - as a prize, you could let the Kindred members (the winners) design their own skin, and have it online for some time?

It would be fairly easily possible with the Bloodlines (and Necromancers), and maybe it could be done here too, in true Wood Elf style. The main problem is that the Wood Elves are not differed by colours very much: everything's green, brown, etc.

Seeing that this skin has some work into it too, I was thinking:

I think that the Invisionfree css style sheet is not hard to master. At least, you just need a 'cheat' sheet ;) (I got one if needed). People can just look up what the code is for and implement it. Though, there would be a graphics designer 'type of guy' needed to do the graphics (banner, buttons, maybe headers and background if needed), or at least someone with Photoshop/Paint (I do not recommend)/whatever :D

Maybe just banners then, if it would be too difficult to realise?

It could be an idea, but i think it requires way to much work actually... creating a script for the colors and stuff on the board will probably be more than possible....

Though banners could be an idea since their rather easy to make... at least compared to making the other thing..

The admin will know this, but the majority of the people don't. So I'll explain. ;) :

This board contains a css style sheet. You are only permitted to change things there, and many things aren't even used as well. Basically, Invisionfree forums are only color and link swapping. Mostly colors. And that can be easily done !

I work through it in less than 5 hours most times. And with a team, you could do it in way less time !

It sounds like a huge project, but it ain't ! Trust me (and the admins)!

the only problen i see is that we have seasonal skins right now (or will soon)
they were planning on making a skin for summer, winter, fall, and spring

right now this is the fall one, and it used to be green in the summer

if we used six months out of the year dedicating it to kindred skins, then the seasonal skin would be thrown off
i think it depends on whatever everyone wants to do
take this new idea and ditch the seasonal skins, or keep it the way it was

Plus, for the skin to look good, it would require a decent main title, banner etc. Some members might not be up to it.


It is a good idea though.

Likewise, as the colours really lend themselves well to the general feel of the forum. As stated before, it's a good idea; just probably will require a lot of team effort, involvement and just general hard work, which few would be prepared to take up. If only I knew how to make pictures outside of Paint...

I agree, it's an interesting idea, but I don't think it will work here. Many people will, as stated, not be familiar with how to work it, and I really like our seasonal skins and think they should continue. It would work well on that undead site though!
