I'm fairly certain there's also dialogue for the failure of the mission (when you fly through Megalith but escape through the top without destroying the final missile.). It shows the missile launching, and screams of 'abort mission' and stuff.

i though there was only 9 wingmen.

are you sure that will happen. i've never tried it but i assumed that the doors won't open unless you've fired.

No he's right. If you don't destroy the missile you see it launch. Then you see your aircraft flying level and people screaming "Abort the mission! Abort the mission!" I wonder what would have happened.

QUOTE (ICE @ Jun 27 2006, 06:45 PM)
ulysses already went down. i think it was another very close asteroid shot down on purpose.

Actually, Uylsses fragmented before entering the earths atmosphere, alot of it was shot back into space. the asteroid in the mission WERE probably knocked into a collision course towards earth by megalith, but they are fragments of the same asteroid from 1999.

But this is my theory.
A piece of the asteriod orbited Earth and it felled down during Operation Judgement Day.

ive allways wonderd about the asteroids falling in op: judgement day.

i was under the impression that megalith was being used to shoot at the smaller fragments with the smaller missiles & the bigger missiles were being used for more bigger fragments. But ISAF had come to the conclusion that the missiles were going to be used in attacks on ISAF held positions, so it needed to be taken out.

Yes from what I've heard is that when Uylsses blew up it rained in all directions, meaning most of the fragments got absorbed by the earth's Gravity and were hanging in orbit.

Megalith was forcing those Astroid fragments down as what could be a "Scorched Earth" way of fighting.

If you watch the map on the briefing it shows objects falling from the right of the map and showing impact zones.

Megalith was using it's missiles to force and steer the fragments on to a collision course with ground targets.

The asteriods are there to make the mission more dramatic. That is all.

Can anyone provide me screen caps of that pre-mission cutscene, where Rex Tremendeae is playing and we can get a full frontal view of the island, complete with the falling meteors, the launching missiles, and those Angry Red Laser Beams scything across the sky?
