The Secret of Monkey Island Special Edition announced. Interview.
(I don't really like the new Guybrush but, besides that, this makes me excited. biggrin.gif )

Telltale Games picks up the saga with Tales of Monkey Island.

I think Tales of Monkey Island is going to have a hard time living up to the originals (1-3) due to the episodic format. Telltale's games usually only have a handful of locations which get reused between episodes, so it doesn't quite have that grand adventure kind of feel.

The Special Edition remake looks awesome, though!

I watched the interview and I believe that it is the best treatment of a classic game that I have ever seen. The fact that you can even toggle between the two versions is just amazing. This release is a definite must for me.

For some reason I never got into MI. I know I should have. Now I just don't have the time.

Anyway, what do you peeplz think the chances are of them making a retouched LeChuck's Revenge too, and then selling the two together with The Curse of MI in a retail box?
I'd want that.

I'd want that.

I think the chances of a retouched MI2 are good if this one does well. MI3 was recently reboxed out here anyway, and still can be found at most videogames shops. Not sure if they'll rebox all 3 together, I'd say they'd do all 4 if anything (I actually have the old 'complete' box with all 4).

I'm not crazy about Guybrush's undercut in the MI remake ("I thought I told you shave off those sideburns!") or his douchebag beard in the new Telltale series. But then, he is sort of meant to be a big loser. Remember the "designer stubble" bumfluff everyone made fun of in MI2?

Did you ever play MI, Tore?

Nope. But I believe I have, you know, seafaring gentlemen versions of most of them on my HD ...

Play the first three - ignore the fourth. It's not *bad* per se, just not as good as the others. If you only have time for one, play Curse (3).

I'd say 1 or 2. Ron Gilbert had departed by 3, but it does manage to preserve the feel pretty well.

I have to admit, it was the one concern I had about Tales. Could the Telltale Tool handle Stan's jacket? Turns out it can. It's not the first time Stan has appeared in 3d though, there was Es....wait, no. That never happened. Yup. First time.
